24.01.2022 From 1st response to final mop up & containment line checks...Karara51 new Crew Leader Janette was there everyday.......4 days out from pasing crew leader assessment. 24.01.2022 An early start for firefighters Greg & Ian as they checked fireground containment lines and wet down a few hotspots from the previous afternoons grassfire. Karara51 firefighters Jonithan & Josh were first responders to intercept the grass fire from burning into an expanse of inaccessible bushland Thankyou to Greymare RFS for their efforts in backup assitance With two "close call" fires in as many weeks it is important to act early. Calling Triple Zero(000) with as much in...fo as possible will assist our crew with an improved response time. Karara51 crew personally use the EMERGENCY PLUS App for all emergency calls and information. Last week we posted out to our community a booklet on bushfire preparation as now is the time to prepare for next fire season. Remember bushfire arson is a crime. It can tragically effect families, property & environment with a recovery that is never quick or easy. Any suspicious behaviour can be anonymously reported to Crimestoppers. #PrepareActSurvive See more

This year Karara RFS Chairman Josh & VCE Luke presented the start of our annual achievement award that went to a well deserved young man. Congratulations to teachers & students for their efforts & rewards in 2019.
23.01.2022 A false alarm callout ended in a rescue on the way home for the Karara51 crew. A dehydrated adolescent koala was picked up, given some water & wrapped up for handover to wildlife carer Annie from our neighbours at Leyburn RFS. This coincides with our brigade training this weekend in wildlife rescues on the fireground. All are welcome to attend & join us.
