24.01.2022 G'day everyone, Sensei Damian here. I'm pleased to let you all know that starting in 2021 Sensei Brett Hall, who also runs the Wondai Dojo, as well as now managing the Kingaroy Betta store, will be taking over the Kingaroy Dojo. After 20 years of karate, I have found myself needing a break & Brett has kindly agreed to take over. Thank you, everyone, that I trained, and trained with over the years. I wish you all the best on your karate journey - I'll still be around town, on Facebook, etc. and look forward to catching up with you all around the traps. Karate truly is an amazing martial art and it has changed my life for the better and enriched it with experiences and the people I have met. I don't want to get soppy, so I'll leave it there Osu!

09.01.2022 Summarised from JESSE ENKAMP KARATE Nerd Today is a special day... On October 25th in 1936, the senior Karate masters in Okinawa held a meeting to decide the future of Karate.... Originally, the art was known as Toudi ( lit. Chinese Hand) and taught in secrecy. But on this day, it was decided to officially make it a Japanese art. The result was a name change ( Karate, "Empty Hand"), adopting the Judo belt system (kyu/dan), creating new styles (-ryu), implementing titles (hanshi, kyoshi, shihan etc.) and introducing a competition format. If it wasn’t for this decision, maybe Karate wouldn’t exist today. That's why Oct 25 is celebrated as "World Karate Day" around the world. See you tonight for the 100 Kata Challenge!
