15.01.2022 International Karatedo Gojukai Association IKGA Branch and its members The world is threatened by the spread of COVID-19. The WHO announced its pandemic in Marc...h 2020 and it became an international issue. Karatedo can be enjoyed as a sport and also can help develop ones character. It can be used as an international cultural exchange, but now the instructors and the karate practioners are struggling to practice Karate. As Chojun Miyagi Sensei once taught, peace without incident is best. Now that we are facing these difficulties, I think we can now understand and appreciate what he meant. We have to understand the situation correctly and deal with it appropriately to make an improvement. As you know the IOC announced that it would hold the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics in 2021 from the 23rd of July and the 24th of August respectively because of the new coronavirus. I would like to show my sympathy towards all of the Olympic athletes and at the same time I support the decision for postponement. Japan Karatedo Gojukai Association has been preparing for the global championships and planned to book the venue to use during the second week of August in 2021. The first bulletin was going to be sent out this month, but the postponement of the Olympics and Paralympics forced us to reschedule. We have discussed this issue with the members of the IKGA Presidents Council that includes the Vice Presidents of IKGA. We decided to hold our 8th Karatedo Gojukai Global Championships in 2022. JKGA will also make a new plan in accordance with this change. According to the WHO, the battle with this new type of coronavirus will be a long one. Please take care of yourselves and be careful with your hygiene so as not to be infected. I hope you can change your teaching style to suit the situation to continue your training. With so many sports cancelled our children are left with little in the way of physical activity. ...
