22.01.2022 Whilst we’re the new kid on the block in Bannockburn, we’ve been a part of the community in both Bell Post Hill and Warrnambool for quite some time. Over years of reflection, experience and learning we’ve become a little more refined in what we understand to be the best ways to support children during the critical and singular window of development they’re experiencing in the first years of their lives (and we see it as nothing short of an incredible privilege to do so). Be...cause of this we like to think that our approach is unique and we’d love to share with you over the coming weeks a little bit about what, why and how we do things. Watch this space. See more

07.01.2022 Meet our Kindergarten teachers for 2021- Shannon Lewis and Leah Kennedy. Shannon and Leah each have 15 plus years’ experience working and teaching in Early Childhood. Both Teachers have extensive experience teaching both 3yo and 4yo kindergarten as well as Educational leader roles at our Geelong campus. Shannon and Leah have worked together at Kardinia Early Learning, Geelong Campus for 12 years and are looking forward to this new chapter, teaching in their local community. O...ur teaching philosophy is inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. We view young children as capable individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them. Our educational programs are underpinned by an emphasis on both care and education as equally vital to children’s learning and wellbeing. We are excited to offer an integrated Kindergarten experience to your family which gives you the flexibility to choose the days and hours which best suit your needs. Our sessions will run from 9:00am-4:30pm and will include before and after kinder care (between 6:30am-6:30pm) in the same classroom with our co-educators. Feel free to email us at [email protected] or call us on 52786481 to enrol for 2021

06.01.2022 The first 1,000 days of life - from conception to age 3 - open a critical and singular window of opportunity. It’s a unique and powerful time where the brain develops all of the connections that determine its capacity for the rest of a person’s life. During this time, a child’s brain can form 1,000 neural connections every second. Yep, you read that right - every SECOND. We understand children to be powerful, capable and competent members of our community. They are curious l...earners who naturally investigate, inquire and engage in the world around them. What that world looks like and how it interacts with the child affects the way their cognitive capacity develops. Having a specialist infant program run by a bachelor trained teacher seems like a serious step, but we understand the difference we can make with an innovative program in place.

04.01.2022 Kia Ora! I am Rochelle the resident kiwi I will be the Educational Leader for the Infant and Toddler rooms at Kardinia Early Learning in Bannockburn. My role will include implementing a specialised Infant and Toddler Program across the service. After relocating here from NZ with my family in 2017, I have worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Kardinia in Geelong and am so excited to be joining the team in the Bannockburn community.... Offering knowledge and experience from 16 years of working with children, families and professionals, I am a fully qualified, (B.Ed (Tchng) ECE) Registered Early Childhood Teacher. Over the years I have worked with children of all ages from infants to kindergarten, and whole-heartedly believe in the importance of quality early learning environments that nurture those most formative years of a childs life. After completing the RIE Fundamentals Certificate in 2008, I was inspired by Magda Gerber’s Educaring Approach and the work of Dr Emmi Pikler. This approach to care and education with young children is deeply embedded in respect, authentic connections, self-initiated motor development and the view of the child as a partner in all care moments. With relationships at the heart of my teaching, it is my passion to inspire and empower educators and caregivers of young children in these principles and practices. I cannot wait to meet you all and begin this journey!

02.01.2022 For us; Respect is paramount. Respecting children, their choices and treating them with mindful consideration is the foundation of our teaching approach. This means treating even the youngest infant as a completely whole being, not an object. You see, when you observe and listen to children they communicate what they need. They give us obvious indicators as to what they want in order to learn and develop particularly at a non-verbal stage of development.... For children to thrive and be content we have to watch out for their cues, because when children have the opportunity to express their needs and preferences, their wellbeing is recognised and maintained.

02.01.2022 We’re big on community and searching for new ways of developing it. Why? Well, the connections a child has both to the world and to the people who are part of it become embedded within them, helping shape their inner being, their character and their world. But a community is more than a location, it involves the quality of relationships that connect people across places. Connecting with our community is a reciprocal relationship that enhances everyone’s wellbeing and sense o...f belonging. Last week we cooked some food and laid out picnic rugs so we could get to know each other a bit better at our Welcome BBQ. It was nice to see you!

02.01.2022 What do you gain from slowing down and spending your time as if you have it in abundance? Tending to beauty, to relationship, to peace? Let’s face it slowing down isn’t easy, but it is a principle that we follow. It’s one of Dr Emmi Pikler’s principles, actually, and it has a strong presence in our specialist infant program.... When we slow the pace down it allows us to be present and responsive with the company we keep. We are better able to pay attention and respect which can build trust and belonging for children and allows them to feel confident to explore and play. Oh, and there’s still some availability in our infant’s classroom for more company if you’d like to slow down with us.
