25.01.2022 This is the alternate words to the national anthem that we have been using most of the time at the commencement of our Rotary Zoom meetings. For those who arent club members, sit back and enjoy.
25.01.2022 On 24th June 2020 we had our Zoom Changeover night. Here are a few photos of the night which included Henry Brockman becoming President, Ben Systermans becoming President Elect and Vici Funnel becoming Immediate Past President (much to her relief going by the photo!) Angella Chisholm received Paul Harris Fellow recognition and Christine Power received her Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow recognition.... Ben Systermans also received the Richard Stone memorial Presidents Award. Congratulations to all three of you, your recognition is well deserved. Also a HUGE thank you to IPP Vici for leading us through a year of (dare I say it?) unprecedented times. Not an easy task but very well led.

16.01.2022 Rotary turns 100 in Australia In 2021, Rotary marks a centenary of proud community service across Australia. To commemorate the milestone the Royal Australian M...int has produced this elegant silver proof coin. The coin honours the big hearts of the 30,000 Rotary members and 1100 plus clubs across the country, which run programs such as youth exchanges, fundraise for bushfire recovery and bring life changing surgery to the Asia Pacific region. 14.01.2022 Our meeting on 14/10/2020 was a combined Zoom meeting with Bairnsdale Sunrise Rotary Club. It was great to share the work that both clubs are doing in the community. It was also good to reflect on the ongoing fire recovery work that the clubs in east Gippsland are continuing on with, even moreso with our contribution to the effort. Thanks Bairnsdale Sunrise, hopefully next time we can do it in person.
13.01.2022 On Friday, and then again on Saturday, members of the club did their part for the International Marathon Fellowship of Rotarians by walking for an hour. This is the Saturday walk. Thanks all for being involved. #kardiniarotary

07.01.2022 One of our fundraisers for the year is the sale of Christmas Hampers. Have a look at the attached info and order some for family and friends.
07.01.2022 Our meeting this morning was a club assembly. It is always good to hear of the plans of the various committees even during these unusual times. One of the projects that the club has supported for a number of years is the Bushikori Christian Centre in Uganda. John Watts, who has been our link to the project shared the following video that was put together to explain to our newer members ( and remind our longer serving members) what Bushikori is all about and what it does.... https://youtu.be/0ySKQzHtVRc

05.01.2022 Jennifer E. Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, has been nominated to become Rotary Internationals president for 2022-23, a groundbreaking selection that will make her the first woman to hold that office in the organizations 115-year history. Jones will officially become president-nominee on 1 October if no other candidates challenge her. Jones says she sees Rotarys Action Plan as a catalyst for increasing Rotarys impact.... As we reflect upon our new strategic priorities, we could have never envisioned that our ability to adapt would become our North Star during what is inarguably the most profound time in recent history, Jones said in her vision statement. Silver linings rise out of the most challenging circumstances. Using metric-driven goals, I will harness this historic landscape to innovate, educate, and communicate opportunities that reflect todays reality. As the first woman to be nominated to be president, Jones understands how important it is to follow through on Rotarys Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement. I believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion begins at the top and for us to realize growth in female membership and members under the age of forty these demographics need to see their own reflection in leadership, Jones said. I will champion double-digit growth in both categories while never losing sight of our entire family. Jones is founder and president of Media Street Productions Inc., an award-winning media company in Windsor. She was chair of the board of governors of the University of Windsor and chair of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized for her service with the YMCA Peace Medallion, the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Wayne State Universitys Peacemaker of the Year Award, a first for a Canadian. Jones holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.). A current Rotary Foundation trustee, Jones has been a Rotary member since 1997 and has served Rotary as RI vice president, director, training leader, committee chair, moderator, and district governor. She played a lead role in Rotarys rebranding effort by serving as chair of the Strengthening Rotarys Advisory Group. She is the co-chair of the End Polio Now Countdown to History Campaign Committee, which aims to raise $150 million for polio eradication efforts. Jones recently led the successful #RotaryResponds telethon, which raised critical funds for COVID-19 relief and was viewed by more than 65,000. Jones has also received Rotary Internationals Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service. She and her husband, Nick Krayacich, are members of The Rotary Foundations Arch Klumph Society, Paul Harris Society, and the Bequest Society.
05.01.2022 Our meeting on 29th July was a very informative meeting where our guest speakers were Kerry Menzel, Nikki McGrady and Lani Harr who spoke about the NIKERI Indigenous Nursing Program at Deakin University. Most of you will remember that indigenous nursing scholarships were Gaye Lamonts project when Stephen was DG. Thank you ladies for giving us your time and sharing your experiences with the program.
05.01.2022 The Quiz Master mantle is back up for grabs. Who will be the most trivial amongst us? Sign up, send this flyer to your friends and share it to your page so that the word gets out. ... Have fun, show how much trivia you know and help us raise money for some of the local groups that we support. See you there!
05.01.2022 Imagine what 1.2 million Rotarians can do working together. Eliminate Polio? Now thats a good start!
03.01.2022 It must be nearly Christmas. Well done Phil and Henry for getting the word out.
03.01.2022 Great to be back in person at #kardiniarotary. Hybrid meeting with some on Zoom.
02.01.2022 Our meeting on 12th August 2020 included a Parkinson style panel led by the inimitable Sir Keith Fagg. Panelists were Charter Member John Watts, Legal Guru Amy Fisher and the Queen of Geelong Real Estate, Laura Berry. It was good to learn more about each of our members it helps us to appreciate what a great club we have.
02.01.2022 We are back together today hearing about R U OK. We much enjoyed hearing about the work of R U OK, but also discovered that we need to get together to make our singing ok again. Thanks Stephen Dowling for sharing with us.
02.01.2022 It's been great sharing with Townsville Saints Rotary Club at our meeting this morning. We really enjoyed sharing with you this morning.
02.01.2022 Due to the club Facebooker (Vic) having been away for the last few days in an internet blackspot he has yet to post pictures of the Changeover night. I will attempt to rectify that either this evening or tomorrow. This would be a good time to ask any club members if they would also like to assist on the FB page. I love doing it, but am not always able to do it as often as I would like. If you are interested, please send me a message. Ideally there would be two more people so that there are three of us able to keep everyone updated on what we, as a club, are up to.
01.01.2022 We are this close...
01.01.2022 On September 26th the Rotary Club of Kardinia coordinated the delivery of 4 shipping containers to the East Gippsland Bushfire Aid project. The club has worked ...on the project in coordination with the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise, to ensure that our efforts were directed to the area of greatest need. 3 containers were delivered to Fennings timber yard in Bairnsdale, for subsequent distribution, by Container Space the supplier of the containers. The other was delivered by Mark Haby Motors direct to the Van Der Peet family in Sarsfield East. We thank all our partners in this project. We also acknowledge the efforts of our members, President Henry Brockman who initiated the project, Nola Brimley who has taken a lead role in making the logistics happen, Graham Hobbs for donating the Rotary signage (prepared and installed by Insight Signs) and Steve Haines for the administration of the grants process.
01.01.2022 A bit of club history has popped up from Graham "Magnificent, even the date was prophetic....and we were trim taunt and terrific 15 years ago.... Some have kept on running .... I am slowly walking these days as Pip slows....... Pip a mere 16 years young and I a mere 74 years young....all in the mind (and muscles). Well kept article......and Henry, Kester and Keith were the only marathon runners in our club, in Geelong, in our District 9780 ,and in Australia, and each one has taken a turn as World president, both Ks ...truly remarkable.... I doubt if any club in the world has that honour !!!The rotarian marathoners are a small special mob ....ask Kester and Keith if this double act has been surpassed.... Something to write about with an amazing picture also featuring an internationally known Rotarian PDG Cathy Roth as well."
