22.01.2022 HIGH ATTENDANCE is valued and encouraged at school. At each assembly the class with the highest attendance percentage is announced and rewarded with delicious Milo and a biscuit. At times the difference between first, second and third place is .3%. Well done to you parents and carers who support your children by getting them to school when they are well. THANK YOU to Mrs Green who works hard to get hot Milos out to the whole class.
22.01.2022 VEGTEMBER VISITORS: THE GREAT VEGGIE CRUNCH We had two special visitors this morning for The Great Veggie Crunch. Shannon from Crunch and Sip and Mr Veggie Man came to see how well students crunched their veggies. Its official, we are CROCODILE CRUNCHERS which is to top level crunching. Well done KPS, keep crunching on! Thank you Mrs Heard for working hard to keep us healthy. #CrunchandSip #TheGreatVeggieCrunch #PubliceducationinWesternAustralia
22.01.2022 YEAR 1 ASSEMBLY A very educational and entertaining assembly this morning from Year 1 students. There was a great story about Stanley (a plastic bag) and how it affected all the sea animals. They also performed an original song about how to protect our oceans by not littering. Thank you Year 1s, you were sensational.
22.01.2022 ONE MORE SLEEP: WE ARE SO EXCITED Remember to set up your childs online portal for the colour explosion tomorrow and to return your permission slips too
21.01.2022 Today we came face-to-face with one of the dangerous sea creatures in our oceans and we were glad to be on the other side of the glass to it. Special thanks to Mr Carr for organizing this excursion and providing us with the opportunity to add further knowledge of the deep blue. Thanks also to staff and parent helpers who assisted with small group supervision. We had such an exciting time and there are many more photos to prove it. An album will be uploaded later.
21.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW WE SHARE OUR SCHOOL GROUNDS WITH AN ENDANGERED SPECIES? Carnaby’s cockatoos breed in the agricultural wheatbelt region, and then travel back to the Perth region with their young from Jan-June each year. During this time of year, Carnaby’s cockatoos are regularly seen feeding and resting in the large trees around Kardinya Primary School, which is very special. Year 5 student, Nurah was able to visit the breeding site which is located in protected bush. She was a...ble to observe the researchers who are studying the Carnaby’s cockatoo nestlings. They remove the nestlings from the natural and artificial breeding hollows in order to weigh, measure and apply a leg band to the nestlings for identification. The leg band enables the researchers to identify the birds when they are resighted in future years. Nurah was very lucky and was able to hold a 14-day old nestling and was also able to peek into an artificial nest hollow with one of the researchers to look at a small nestling resting there. We thank Professor Kristin Warren from Murdoch University for sharing these photos and information. See more

19.01.2022 Continuing with the Deep Blue theme, enjoy Octopuss Garden by the Beatles, beautifully performed by the school choir last night.
18.01.2022 Everything is set up. All we need now are children and spectators.
18.01.2022 Are you FACTION CARNIVAL ready? We are! Buddies met today to discuss all the things they will need for the Faction Carnival tomorrow. There were some great discussions on the importance of sunscreen, hats and water bottles. However, most of the excitement was for the colourful accessories they were planning to wear or paint on. We are looking forward to a fun day.
18.01.2022 A timely reminder

16.01.2022 VEGTEMBER It is fantastic to see all the classes bringing in such a variety of vegetable nibbles for Crunch and Sip. For the whole month of September we are encouraging the children to eat more vegies . Its a sad fact that only 6% of WA school children eat the recommended daily intake of vegies. So , Kardy families, LETS CRUNCH ON! Thank you for your support.
15.01.2022 It was such a pleasure to see so many smiling faces last night for our annual Parent Night. Students took great pleasure in showing their Deep Blue themed work to their families. The classrooms looked sensational - THANK YOU staff and students. We thank Sue Cuneo (Regional Executive Director, South Metropolitan Education) for attending our Deep Blue celebration. The choir presented four songs with stunning solo performances too THANK YOU choir members and Mrs Fourie... Food and drinks was available from the food trucks and pizza ovens THANK YOU KPS P&C The only thing missing was the (past) storms and rain, which we didnt really miss at all. This morning the choir presented their songs again and we all had the opportunity to have a walk through the classes to see all the wonderful displays. See more

14.01.2022 Great news! The NEW Nature Playground will be open tomorrow. The three winning classes tested it out and gave it the big thumbs up! Even Ms Simpfendofer had a turn on the slide. #natureplay #playground
14.01.2022 JOYOUS JUMP JAMMERS The 2020 Jump Jam competition has been a little bit different this year. Ordinarily the team would go and perform with a number of other schools at a weekend event, but this year they have had to record routines and upload their efforts to be judged remotely. KPS teams have sent two routines in to receive coaching and feedback from the event organisers. They viewed their trial recordings and then performed their routines sporting their super new shirts. Fingers crossed they score well. Thanks Miss Wallace for all your effort and technology skills.
14.01.2022 Attention C4 Kindy Blue parents! Thank you P&C for making sure that everyone can enjoy pizza on Open Night. We are all looking forward to it.
13.01.2022 FLOATING OIL RIGS Did you know that About one-third of the worlds total reserves of oil and gas lie offshore below the ocean. Our future engineers in A2 had to design and build a model of a structure that can support an offshore exploration rig. It had to remain upright and float on water. Their next task is to design a fair float test - When placed in water, does it float? We would love to see if these rigs pass the test.
13.01.2022 Wonderful results for Kardinya PS who won the Meritorious Athletics Shield in the handicap competition today at the Interschool Athletics Carnival and 5th overall. Thanks also to other staff who attended. GO KARDINYA! #sports #athlectics #interschoolcarnival #mdissa
13.01.2022 Well done to the Year 5/6 students who organised a display of a representation of the ocean giants yesterday. They would like to thank all who attended and special thanks to Mrs Kennedy, Mrs Ellis and Ms Stephens for their help in getting organised.

12.01.2022 Although the Massed Choir Festival had to be cancelled this year, it did not stop schools learning and preparing songs for a Massed Choir Festival Sing Day on the steps of the Perth Concert Hall. Our terrific choir was amongst 37 schools who participated at this 2-day event last week. It was fabulous to have at least one massed-singing event to lift the spirits of our students in this difficult year. Thank you to Mrs Fourie for the musical teaching and to Ms Crawford for assisting on the excursion day. Thank you to the festival organisers too,

06.01.2022 D3 and D4 have been investigating why the vegetables in the Year Two garden kept being pulled up and eaten. Did you know that we actually have some cheeky gnomes at Kardinya PS wreaking havoc in our gardens? We decided to do some research on how to and made an AWESOME gnome trap in the garden last Wednesday. On Thursday morning we discovered that our trap had worked! The police had taped up the area so the Gnome wouldn't be disturbed. We found out that when gnomes are scared they actually turn into a statue until they feel safe. Here are some photos for you to enjoy. We hope you like them! We are going to relocate our gnome far, far away so our gardens are safe from these annoying, yet curious creatures.

03.01.2022 TASTY TASTINGS Today A2 got to try some of the food that they grew. They tasted tomatoes, cucumber, mint and rhubarb. Below are some of the food critics' feedback: The rhubarb was sweet because we added some cooked apple. The rhubarb and apple would go really well in a pie.... The rhubarb looked strange but it tasted quite good and it had a bit of a tang. The boats looked yummy and tasted scrumptious. The cucumber was delicious. See more
