22.01.2022 Congratulations to Cat Fewings on beating Geoff White in Friday's Super Seven Singles. Cat wasn't going to enter until he was asked to run the event, so you never can tell when it's your turn to win.

21.01.2022 BADGES GALORE FOR KARDINYA TEAMMATES Lawn bowls can throw up some amazing results, but this lot takes some beating. At Kardinya last Saturday (31 October 2020) the club’s 5th Division Red team scored a massive 142 to 34 win over Belmont City.... Not only is the aggregate score thought to be a record for a three-rink pennant match in Western Australia, two of the Kardinya teams achieved 50-plus scores, while one of these teams recorded a rare eight on two separate occasions for the afternoon. The most dominant rink was that of Kardinya’s Brent Morey (skip), Dave Adams, Eugene McNamara and John Kelly who eclipsed the Belmont City crew 57 shots to 16, and scored two lots of eight in the process. On a nearby rink, Kardinya teammates Barry Burley (skip), Joe Spadaro, Tom Smales and Dennis Andrew scored a 54-6 win over their hapless Belmont City opponents. This adds up to 16 badges being won for the afternooneight 50-badges and eight eight-badges. The previous highest aggregate score by a Kardinya three-rink division was 131. That was a few years back, and again Brent Morey was involved. The previous highest rink score by a Kardinya pennant team was 52, which was achieved on 2 February 2013, with yet again Brent Morey being the skipper, Barry Burley (third), John Cranny (second) and Fred Langford (lead). Brent has won three 50 badges in his bowls career so far. Wow, what an achievement! John Terrell

20.01.2022 IT’S RANKS VERSUS COCO IN THE CLUB MEN’S SINGLES FINAL You couldn’t get two different semi-final games last night. Dave Rankin was in red hot form to beat John Terrell 21-1. He had an unbelievable night and you could count on one hand the number of poor bowls. The other semi saw Tony Cocodis overcome a dogged Brad Henley. Tony raced to a handy 10-1 lead only to see Brad come charging back to be 17-16 up. Tony’s steady draw bowling saw him eventually win the game 21-17.... So it’s all set for a great Club Men’s Singles final to start at 5:30pm, Tuesday 16 March 2021 between Ranks and Coco. Remember that the Club Men’s Novice Singles final between Steve Garner and Peter Smith is also held on the same night. It should be a great night and we'd like to see a good crowd to cheer them on.

20.01.2022 THREE IN A ROW FOR RANKIN Kardinya champion David Rankin chalked up his third club singles title in a row, defeating a valiant Tony Cocodis 25-12 in tonight’s final. More than 50 Kardinya club members enjoyed a free sausage sizzle while watching the finalists in action.... Rankin’s win qualifies him to contest the WA Champion of Champion singles crown for the third year in succession. Rankin will be attempting to equal Mosman Park champion G. Clement who won three successive WA Champion of Champion titles in 1948, 1949 and 1950. The all-time best record for this event belongs to ex Claremont and North Perth star Harry Snook who has four WA Champion of Champion titles to his credit. His titles were won in 1937, 1946, 1953 and 1959. Kardinya Bowling Club also acknowledges its 2021 ladies club singles champion Kelly Bezant who defeated Cheryl Lonsdale in the final, and Steve Garner who defeated Peter Smith in the club’s men’s novice singles final.

20.01.2022 THE TWO D’S WIN THE CLUB MIXED PAIRS Daryl Radford and Denise McMillan joined forces to win this year’s Mixed Pairs final overcoming Tony Regan and Val Picen 22-15. It was an interesting final with both teams slugging it out each winning ends with threes and fours. The rains came half way through but the short break didn’t affect the quality of play. Well done Daryl and Denise.

17.01.2022 Kardinya Club Fours Update We have rescheduled start time to be 9:45am for a 10:00am start with reduced ends . We will review and assess the situation at 9:30am and update Facebook.... Match Committee

16.01.2022 121,000 REASONS TO BE HAPPY Kardinya Bowling Club will receive a State Government grant of $121,000 upon the re-election of the McGowan government to pay for the replacement of shade cloth above its A and B green playing surfaces. The club executive received news of the promised grant when Kim Giddens, the Labor candidate for the local State seat of Bateman, visited the club recently. Kim was impressed by our club's commitment to the community.... The money will meet the total cost of replacing the near-worn out shade cloth at the end of the current bowls season.

16.01.2022 Another superb display of quality bowling saw Steve Novak win Friday’s Super Seven Singles (again!). But the talk of the evening was the performance of new member Peter Smith (Smithy) who reached the final and put up a great effort against Steve. Peter is a convert from Community Bowls and has limited experience but he showed he’s already got the skills to be a very good bowler. Well done Steve on your win and to you Peter great effort.

15.01.2022 TUESDAY LADIES PLAYING FOR A PENNANT FLAG The Ladies’ Tuesday Division Two pennant team finished top of their division and are promoted to Division One. Now for the pennant flag. Today (Tuesday, 16 March) they beat North Beach Ladies and will now be playing against Bassendean tomorrow (Wednesday) at Yokine for the pennant flag.... Starting around 10am, it would be great if we could have some members there to give them support.

15.01.2022 KARDY PLAYER SKIPS THE WINNING TEAM AT MARGARET RIVER Kardy’s very own Graeme Eades along with twin sisters Shaan Saunders and Amanda Masters (Osborne Park) plus Steve Masters (Rossmoyne) won the Margaret River Invitation Fours at the weekend. They had to overcome a last game challenge from Lionel Bell (Osborne Park), Ken Stower (Kardinya), Wendy Stower (Mosman Park) and Julie Saville (Osborne Park) who ended up finishing third.... Another good showing by Kardy players so well done to all.

12.01.2022 "CHASE THE ACE" IS BACK

12.01.2022 FUN AT KARDY'S COMMUNITY BOWLS The penultimate round of Community Bowls was played last night with the theme of Bogan Bowls at Buzacott. It was great to see so many people get on board with dressing up (or should that be dressing down?). Winners, A Green Don’t Bowl There Winners B Green CSA. Fantastic fun with the raffle and Harcourts Wheel of Wonder... Looking forward to next weeks’ Christmas theme, so get your elf on and we will see you there!

11.01.2022 KARDINYA DIVISION 5 RED SHATTER CLUB RECORDS Word spread quickly, Brent Morey’s team had just won two eight badges. And then the news came through that there were two 50 badges as well (Brent Morey’s team with a 57-6 win and Barry Burley’s team with a 54-16 win). What’s more, Brent and Barry’s teams actually beat the club’s highest rink score record of 52. Not to be outdone, the third team also chipped in with a 31-12 win giving an overall score of 142-48. This shattered t...he current record for Saturday’s highest winning aggregate for 3 rinks of 131. Great effort guys, well done.

10.01.2022 KARDINYA PLAYERS HELP WIN THE THORNLIE RAVENS CLASSIC Three Kardy players and one Stirling player joined forces to win the two-day Thornlie Ravens Classic event held over two days at the weekend. The winning team of Sam Perica, Mick Marovic (Stirling), Spike Jones and Jack Edgar were unbeaten on both days and won with 24 pts (+83 shots). It was a good all-round effort to overcome some good opposition. To clarify the results sheet, Sam Perica was the Skip, not Jack Edgar.... Another Kardy player saw Marc Abonnel in a composite team take out third prize and Dave and Mel Rankin being on the team that won the Saturday Day Prize. For more info see the report on Perth Pennants: https://www.facebook.com/media/set

08.01.2022 LEON WINS THIRD SUPER SEVEN SINGLES I think Leon Jamieson likes Super Seven Singles as he easily won the event for the third time against Michael Hughes. On his way to the final Leon reinforced his reputation as a giant killer beating Brad Henley i the semis. Michael Hughes was equally as good playing two excellent games to reach the final. But the shot of the night belonged to Eugene McNamara. It was the first end of his game against Brad Henley and four down when he decided to have a drive and promptly removed two bowls and gently roll up next the jack. Superb.

06.01.2022 A 2020/2021 BPL Cup WA Sectional qualifying triples event was held at Kardinya on Monday evening. The winners were Sam Perica, Daryl Radford and John Terrell, edging out Steve Novak, Brad Henley and Bryn Regan in a quality final section game decided by an extra end playoff. The final round of 16 series continues at Willetton Bowling Club on Friday night. Well done guys.

06.01.2022 AND HERE’S ANOTHER BADGE THIS TIME BY THE LADIES. At Rockingham last Tuesday (3 November 2020) the club’s Ladies 2nd Division Red team scored an eight-badge. Members were June Haynes, Janet Yakas, Helen Barber and Diana Nixon who won the game 39-13. In normal times this is a great achievement but also consider this: it was Helen Barber’s first game with Kardinya after transferring from Cockburn AND this was Diana Nixon first pennant game ever. Great effort ladies, well done.

04.01.2022 KELLY WINS THE LADIES’ CLUB SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP Wow, what a worthy game for the final of the Ladies’ Singles Championship between Kelly Bezant and Cheryl Lonsdale. It was a really close game right up to end with it being 20-20 going into the last end and the measure for the final shot just going to Kelly. Well done to you both for putting on such a close game and congrats to Kelly.

04.01.2022 KNIGHTY WINS FRIDAY’S SUPER SEVENS SINGLES With a dominant display in all games, but especially the final, Garry Knight took the honours against Brad Henley. Playing superbly in the final Garry was 12 shots up before anyone knew it. After the game Garry dedicated his win to his brother Lindsay who died recently. Our thoughts are with you Knighty. The Chase-the-Ace jackpot will be $1,200 next week.

03.01.2022 LADIES PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP The Ladies Pairs Championship final was played on the evening of Thursday 19th November. The game looked like being a landslide win for Val Picen and Cheryl Lonsdale with a score of 12-0 on about the 6th end. Kathy McDonald and Kelly Bezant fought their way back but eventually went down by one on the last end. Great game, final score 17-16. Well done ladies.

03.01.2022 Every Friday morning, a group of five members calling themselves the TI’s (Terminally Ill's) get together for a friendly game of bowls and a brunch. Last week they really splashed out to celebrate their Health, Wealth and Happiness by indulging in a fillet steak washed down by a bottle of 1988 PENFOLDS GRANGE. Yes, a Penfolds Grange which, I’ve been reliably informed, is worth close to a grand. The theme was to celebrate and drink the wine now with some friends while all are still alive and kicking. A great idea guys, should be more of it. From left Dave McGinnis, Haydn Dinning, Ian Temby. Eddie Lange and Ron Bowe

03.01.2022 LOTS OF FUN KICKS OFF NOVEMBER ROUND OF KARDY COMMUNITY BOWLS Fantastic weather, both greens were full and a good time was had by all. The winning teams were A Green: Swim Club and B Green: Team Lawrence.... Walshy won the Meat Pack from Jake’s Continental Butcher (Kardinya Park). As always we had some great fun with the raffle and with the Harcourts Wheel of Wonder. Dino at Harcourts Blue Kardinya once again donated some awesome prizes for the Wheel. The burgers were top notch and the place was jumping looking forward to seeing everyone back down at the Kattery next Wednesday. Awesome work by all the helpers, love seeing so many members getting involved!

02.01.2022 BPL CUP QUALIFIER CALL FOR ENTRIES Kardinya Bowling Club has been invited to organise its own BPL Cup qualifying triples event before the end of November 2020. Hence, an urgent call has been made for Kardinya players to make up four teams for this home qualifying event at our club on Monday 30th November.... Expressions of interest can be made through Sam Perica via email [email protected] or by telephoning Sam on 0418 934 884 See attachment for more detail.

02.01.2022 BOOM, BAM, S-P-I-D-E-R Ladies’ gala days are invariably full of colour, and most of all, fun. This year’s event at Kardinya Bowling Club on Tuesday 23 March was no exception, with 80 bowlers from more than a dozen different clubs involved.... To kick-off the day, a traditional spider novelty was conducted. This exercise involved ladies lining the inside perimeter of A-green and delivering a bowl towards a central target, which, in this case, was a jumbo fake, furry spider. For those familiar with a spider, considerable luck is involved, with in-coming bowls crashing and being pushed off target at inopportune moments. From all of this mayhem came a closest-to-the-spider winnerNorma Separovich from Thornliea first time gala day player. The gala day carnival was won by team from Leeming (P. Webber, skip; L. Tinley (third), L. Dewar (second) and L. Rennick (lead). Second was a Warnbro team comprising Elaine Meeham (skip), S. Baker, D Kitson and T. Kreindl. Diana Drake-Brockman from Leanne O’Dea Funeral Directors presented the trophies to the winning teams.

01.01.2022 KARDINYA CLUB FOURS CHAMPIONSHIP This year's event was won by Steve Novak, Spike Jones, Graeme (Shagga) Eades and Silvio Vassall beating the young guns Ian (Bushy) Barrie, Chris Booth, Garry Knight and Monte Monteiro by 26-10. It was an impressive all round performance by Steve's team but special mention must be made about Silvio's leading. Time and time again he was landing his first bowl right on the jack. Steve was his usual steady self and the few times he was needed he... came up with the goods. It was a frustrating evening for Bushy who was most unlucky on several shots, but to his credit he never lost his sense of humour. Photo: Slivio Vassallo, Steve Novak, Spike Jones, Graeme Eades.
