23.01.2022 Our favourite thing on a Saturday night is receiving a comment stating that certain supermarkets have cheaper cage free eggs and that our eggs are expensive. Ugh... Please don’t try and understand our side and why our prices are the way they are. There’s no point explaining the work we do behind the scenes to be able to produce a high quality product because there’s always 1 out there who will never understand farming. Inform yourself well, before commenting how you can b...uy your cage free eggs at a cheaper price instead of buying local, supporting Aussie farmers and actually being able to see firsthand the chook that lays your eggs. As our slogan says The chicken comes first so we take great pride in making sure these girls all continue to live a great life. These are not meat birds and will not be sold for the purpose of this. Most are still on the lay however we can’t take any responsibility for individual chooks and their laying cycles. How grateful we are for Tricia and the whole market team for doing everything they can to keep us going as long as we can ... Now if you haven’t yet PLEASE like Kiama Farmers Market on Facebook or Instagram and please read the rules that apply for today. It’s a very different market and that is for 1 reason... HEALTH ! Today is COME-SHOP-GO Do not stand and talk, do not mingle and bring a blanket and sit and eat and gather with your friends and family. Wash your hands when you arrive to markets and please don’t put your bags or personal items on stall holders tables. Leave everyone at home who does NOT need to be there. If you don’t follow these few simple steps and it then gets looked at as a gathering we could potentially be closed down. Don’t be that person who ruins it for all of us. Unfortunately all this rain has affected the grounds at surf beach and markets are a no go this week HOWEVER, you may still order your eggs to be picked up from the surf beach car park thanks to the wonderful market staff ... Here’s how you order: Send us a message via Facebook messenger with your order Please make sure you specify name of person picking them up, how many dozen and what size eggs. eg Bob - 2 Doz 700g Egg sizes are 600g, 700g and 800g No trays are available this week Pick up between 3 and 5pm in the surf beach car park Orders must be placed by 5pm TUESDAY 11th AUGUST. This is a definite cutoff and we won’t accept any orders after this time. If you know of anyone who doesn’t have Facebook please let them know and add their eggs to your order. What an overwhelming response we have had for a junior to join our team We have been inundated with messages and emails and we are trying our best to reply, however with the farm being so busy it is hard for us to reply to everyone, so we would just like to clarify a few things about the position. Applications for the position close Wednesday at 5pm.... At this stage we are only after a junior farmhand. Age preference between 14-16yrs. The position is for after school and weekends, so please only apply if you have full availabilities for these times, as the roster will vary each week. After school hours vary with local schools, so we will work with the successful applicant to cater with their school finishing times. Reliable transport means you have someone able to drive you and pick you up to and from your shift, eg a parent or guardian. Regards, Kareelah Farms Team

16.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone Just a quick update on some important market changes for today, please make sure you read and understand these new changes: Shoppers are now to walk in a 1 way direction. ... 1 Point of entry and 1 point of exit All shoppers must WASH THEIR HANDS ON ENTRY. There will be hand washing stations at the entry. It still is a Come, Shop & Go. Do not bring your family for an outing or sit and gather. Grab what you need and go home. The entire market will be fenced and supervised so please do not try and enter or exit through stall holders stalls or under any fences. These have been put in place by the police commissioner and not by market staff. They are jumping through hurdles and doing every little possible thing they can to be able to keep us farmers supplying you all with our produce so please respect the rules and if you do see them around please thank them Other social distancing rules are still in place and you can find these on our previous post. Due to poor Rain fall, low dam levels and extreme dry conditions this year we have chosen to Stop fruit production this season and keep our plants alive for seasons to come. Fruit Production requires a lot of water that we just cannot spare this season and maybe even next season. ... Egg Production is continuing as normal and ramping up with our third van to go into operations early in the new year. Limit- *2 DOZEN PER PERSON (*800g- 1 DOZ, you can buy another size, eg 1 800g and 1 700g but can’t buy 2 800g due to limited stock) It’s time for us to deliver some egg-cellent goodness to you all yet again ! How fast these weeks are going ! We are again so very blessed to be able to continue to supply you all The team at Kiama Farmers Market are still going above and beyond to keep this going every week so please if you see them tomorrow just give them an air hi 5 (remember no touching ) and thank them (from a 1.5m distance ) All the same rules and regulations apply again this week: Wash your hands BEFORE you shop Strictly COME - SHOP - GO. Do not bring your family, do not gather, do not stop and talk ! Save that for the FaceTime where you make your friends and family jealous with all the delicious produce you found 1.5m distance at the stalls, there will be markings on the ground Use Eftpos as much as you can and have your card ready We appreciate it Do not touch the produce or put your belongings on the stall holders tables. We will hand you your eggs or produce ! Do not come if you are over 70 If you are unwell - STAY HOME Send someone to get your shopping. Thank your farmers, be appreciative and kind and just buy what you need. The days of panic buying are so over Some good news is our new girls are laying some delicious pullet eggs, they will now be available for you to purchase at $5 per Dozen. A pullet is the name we use to describe a young chook. Their first eggs when they come onto the lay are tiny (usually 38-50g per egg) as they learn the ropes on their laying skills. These eggs are highly nutritious as they put all they have into producing, and even though tiny you will find some will be double yolkers #winning We basically narrow it down to they are teenagers on their L plates Cheers to you all for your continuing support, patience, understanding and social distancing during these times See you when the bell rings at 3pm

Regrettably the ground at Surf Beach is too wet & at risk of being damaged if the Kiama Farmers' Market was hel...d this week so we've had to make the tough decision to CANCEL the farmers market for WED. 12 August. Moving indoors to The Pavilion isn't an option due to Covid-19 restrictions. A formal request to Council to use the car park at The Pavilion as the alternative outdoor venue was rejected. PRE-ORDER & PICK UP OPTION:- Some of our dedicated stallholders are still going to come along to provide a "pick up service" to their customers from the Surf Beach Car Park on Wednesday.
