25.01.2022 In case you missed it.

25.01.2022 While the grocery store shelves are emptying, there seems to be loads of fresh produce available! This is where gut health and immune system support begins! We should be consuming loads of nutrient dense vegetables and fruit to get vitamin C and antioxidants and also feed our gut microbes, they love it! Fresh produce is readily available so go fill your trolley with things that will help your immune system! Eat the rainbow

24.01.2022 Spring time means Mulberry time! Not a fruit I've ever seen to buy in the stores, but a fruit that so many of us have growing in our back yards! A fruit that seems to grace us with little gardening effort required. Now that the tree is in full fruit, it is time to harvest and get eating/cooking and beat the fruit bats!! What do you usually do with your Mulberries?... A Land family tradition, thanks to our beautiful Nan, is to make a Mulberry Pie! I'll be posting some Mulberry inspirations soon!

18.01.2022 If you love Apricot Delight, you are going to need to share this recipe to your page so that you don't lose it!! I have had to make a second batch of this, followed by a stern word to my kids, to enable me to take this photo!! It is that good!!!! Gluten Free, Dairy Free, No refined sugar, Deliciousness! Apricot Delight... 1 cup dried apricots, diced (ideally preservative free if you can get your hands on them!) 1 cup desiccated coconut 1 cup almond meal 1 tablespoon coconut oil 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste 2 tablespoons honey or rice malt syrup Place all ingredients in Vitamix or high powered food processor or Thermomix and blitz until combined. If you have a Vitamix, use tamper to help combine ingredients. Press into a lined loaf tin and place in fridge or freezer to harden. Cut into rectangles or squares and store in the fridge.

17.01.2022 Clients check your inboxes and junk mail this evening for your every own digital copy of the latest Holistic Health magazine, thanks to BioConcepts! 15.01.2022 Last day of school holidays! Today I'm whipping up some healthy lunch box foods and after school treats for my always starving children! Filling them up on real food packed with naturally occuring vitamins, proteins and healthy fats is always on the top of my list! I always make gummies as a lunch box addition. The gelatin is a great source of protein, added to real fruit which is packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. If you have a copy of my recipe book, our favourite Ra...speberry Gummies are on page 114. Today I've had a go at making Mulberry Gummies..... and they received 3 thumbs up from my 3 foodies! Mulberry Gummies Start by blooming the gelatin and cold water. Place in a mug and mix quickly, forming a rubber like clump. 3 tablespoons gelatin 1/3 cup cold water Fruit mix 1 cup of mulberries 1/2 cup raspberries Juice of half a lemon 1 tablespoon of Rice Malt Syrup or Honey Place the fruit ingredients in a saucepan and stir over low heat until they start to break down. I then transferred to my vitamix to blitz the berries, as Mulberries tend not to break down like raspberries do! Or you could use a stick blender in the suacepan, or if you have a Thermomix you could do the entire process in it. Return to the saucepan and add the gelatin clump. Stir continuously until gelatin dissolves. Pour into moulds and place in freezer or fridge to set. When they bounce back, they are ready to pop out of the moulds. Store in the fridge.

15.01.2022 A great afternoon with locals, Lydia Burton from ABC, Jo Cuskelly, Jane Grieves and Greg Driese sharing our experiences with self publishing and illlustrating at Words Out West. #wordsoutwestfest

15.01.2022 Christmas holidays are fast approaching..... I will be taking 4 weeks off over the festive season, so I thought I'd best let you know, so that you can get organised and fill your prescriptions and not run out over this period! If you wish to message or email me your orders, I can dispense them for you. Our suppliers also close down over the holidays, and so will the online dispensary for my regional and remote clients.

11.01.2022 There is no food in the house, only ingredients!! This is a popular saying from Master Q lately! Perhaps he needs to stop eating it all! 6 'dead bananas' according to the kids (that means a few spots on skin and they will not eat them!) and a block of Aldi Organic Dark Chocolate in the fridge (they keep pestering me for) = 2 Banana Choc Chip Loaves! (DF,GF, high in protein and good fats) Now we have some snack food in the house, but for how long?? I'll share this favourite recipe of ours again - see the link below. I didn't have any dates so I skipped that step (leaving out Bicarb and dates). http://karenlandnaturopath.com.au//banana-date-dark-choco/

10.01.2022 I've been meaning to post this recipe for a while now.... I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen making healthy snacks for my kids, BUT THESE, I make for me! Something in the fridge to grab with a cuppa or have as a nutritious snack. They are dense and delicious. Free of dates and refined sugar, I totally recommend you give them a go! Choc-Chia Hemp Balls... 1/2 cup of hemp protein powder (you can use any protein powder) 1/4 cup chia seeds 1/4 cup almond butter 1/2 cup cacao (if you don't like a strong taste reduce to 1/4 cup) 3 tablespoons maple syrup (could use RMS) 1/4 cup flaked almonds (optional) 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil pinch of salt Place all ingredients in the food processor and pulse until combined. Roll large teaspoons full into balls Store in the fridge.

I made these little mors...els up last night as a trial for a Christmas dessert and they are delicious! They became a post breakfast treat this morning, where my three foodies taste tested and can't wait to get home from school to have one. MANGO LIME DELICIOUS is its name! Base Mixture 2/3 cup buckinis or buckwheat grouts 2 tablespoons chia seeds 1/4 cup pepitas 1/4 cup shredded coconut 6 medjool dates (pitted) 2 tablespoons coconut oil pinch of sea salt Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend until mixture stays together when pressed. Place a dessert spoon of mixture in the base of each muffin mould (silicon as it is easier to remove them), and press firmly. (Makes approx 8). Alternatively, you could place the mixture in a round spring-form tin and make one large one. Place the bases in the freezer while prepping the topping. Topping Flesh of 2 mangoes juice of 1/2 lime 3 tablespoons rice malt syrup 1 cup coconut cream 2 tablespoons coconut oil Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. Pour equal amounts onto the top of each base. Place in the freezer for about 3-4 hrs or until set. Remove from the freezer just before plating and serving. Serving suggestions Top with a dollop of coconut yogurt and your favourite berries or simply on its own.

06.01.2022 Not at all surprising!! For the last 50-60 years our guidelines have been based on the ‘scientific’ hypothesis that ‘saturated fats cause cardiovascular disease and should be avoided’. This finding was based on the work of Dr Ancel Keys- and American physiologist, who hand picked his data to match his hypothesis and omitted countries like France who consume high fat and have low cardiovascular disease!!!! The hypothesis was never true, yet the world based their nutritional... models on it. In this time cardiovascular disease has continued to increase along with type 2 diabetes. When you reduce fat, you increase the sugar in a product. Don’t believe it?.. Go and compare a full fat yogurt with a reduced fat one!! Sugar, hidden sugars, processed carbohydrates and rubbish food and drinks are major contributing factors to consider when it comes to cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. I’m guessing, and hoping we will now see a change in the ‘Healthy Eating’ circle promoted by the ‘government model’. While it still suggests ‘reduced fat’ more sugar for dairy and 1/3 of our foods should come from breads, cereals, rice and pasta, which ultimately convert to sugar, nothing will change! Let’s get the education model in this country consistent and scientifically correct!! See more

03.01.2022 Our thoughts are with everyone directly affected by this devastating start to the Australian bush fire season. With no end in sight and back-to-back days of thi...ck, smokey haze I thought it was worth highlighting a review on the potential for nutrition to modify the health impacts of air pollution. Among others, Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamins C and E may offer protective effects against the oxidative insult associated with airborne contaminants. Stay safe and lend a hand where you can.
