Expressions of interest are now open for the Morrison Government's $10.2 million Powering Communities Program - which aims to help lower power bills and reduce Australia’s emissions.
24.01.2022 #Manufacturing Did you know, manufacturing is the third-largest industry on the Gold Coast? It was great to engage with some local manufacturers today in a virtual briefing where they outlined how they want their businesses to grow, and what’s standing in the way. I’m excited about working through these challenges to ensure our local industry can thrive. ... Spantech Neumann Steel Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery Stacked Farm

23.01.2022 I have been so impressed to learn about the incredible work being done everyday to keep Australians safe in the Home Affairs portfolio. Like those in the Department and agencies, I am committed to safeguarding our security, prosperity and unity, especially in our COVID recovery.
20.01.2022 #BUDGET I'm getting cracking on delivering our $1.5 billion Modern Manufacturing Strategy after yesterday unveiling the plan with PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo). It's just the beginning of what will be a big Budget next week - to grow manufacturing, create jobs and secure Australia's future.
20.01.2022 It was terrific to chat with Mary-Anne at Reedy Creek Child Care about how she has navigated COVID - ensuring the safety of children and staff, while keeping her business afloat. The centre opened in March and is welcoming children from babies to pre-schoolers.
20.01.2022 If you live on the southern Gold Coast or northern NSW, you may have already received your copy of the wonderful Our Border Region coffee table book. As representatives for the southern Gold Coast, Cr Gail O'Neill - Division 14, Laura Gerber MP and I encourage you to support local businesses - including those featured in the book - as often as you can.
20.01.2022 MEET is more than a plant based protein brand. It’s the result of nearly 15 years of hard work and collaboration between industry & researchers, including the CSIRO. I was thrilled to join Julian Leeser MP to open ProForm Foods’ new factory, which will produce around 5,000 tonnes of product for Australia and abroad. Australians want to buy Australian Made and the world wants our food too. It’s clean, green and manufactured to the highest standards. ... These products are a great example of value-adding to our proud agriculture industry, and alongside our traditional meat producers, we can capitalise on Australia’s reputation for producing safe, premium, high-quality food.
19.01.2022 The Gold Coast is famous for our beaches - and rightly so - but we also attract visitors who love spending their days in our stunning hinterland. I believe this could be our secret weapon in attracting more domestic tourists to our region. Do you agree? https://twitter.com/7newsgoldco/status/1310484079813378055

17.01.2022 Lung cancer is one of the top 10 most common cancers in both men and women in Australia. That's why the Australian Government is extending lung cancer medicines on the PBS. Without this subsidy many Australians would be out of pocket thousands of dollars per treatment - instead they will only have to pay $41.30 or $6.60 with a concession card. Since 2013, we have approved over 2,600 new or amended listings on the PBS, an overall investment of $13 billion.

14.01.2022 There are now a record 13,077,600 Australians in work, with the level of employment now 74,300 (or 0.6 per cent) above its pre-COVID level in March 2020 and 947,100 (or 7.8 per cent) higher than the trough in the labour market recorded in May 2020. The increase in employment over the month was due to a rise in part-time jobs, which increased by 91,500 (or 2.2 per cent) in March, to a record high of 4,203,400. While full-time employment fell by 20,800 (or 0.2 per cent) over t...he month, to 8,874,200 in March 2021, the decline this month was not surprising, given the five consecutive monthly increases totalling 359,600 recorded between October 2020 and February 2021. Women accounted for the vast majority of the rise in employment in March, up by 55,400 (or 0.9 per cent), to a record high of 6,229,600, while male employment also rose, by 15,300 (or 0.2 per cent).

10.01.2022 #Announcement The Morrison Government will invest an additional $1.2 billion to support Australian businesses to employ 100,000 new apprentices and trainees as part of our COVID-19 economic recovery plan. From tomorrow, businesses who take on a new Australian apprentice will be eligible for a 50% wage subsidy - regardless of geographic location, occupation, industry or business size. 10.01.2022 Bruce Jeffreys and his Dresden Vision co-founder couldn’t believe how fragile and non-recyclable prescription glasses were - and how costly they were to make. Making science and technology work for their vision they partnered with like-minded businesses and researchers to find innovative solutions. Dresden now makes glasses that are 100% recyclable and cheaper than anywhere in the world! It was fantastic to visit Bruce and the team in Sydney this week.

06.01.2022 Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert is coming home! Last night I was advised that after more than two years of detention following her arrest, conviction and sentencing to t...en years in prison by the Iranian Government, and following concerted and determined diplomatic effort by our Government and our officials, working closely together with her family and colleagues, Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert had finally been released and was safe with our Ambassador and our officials in Tehran. She is now finally on her way home. I spoke to Kylie this morning. It was wonderful to hear her voice and I look forward to seeing her after her return. Securing Dr Moore-Gilbert’s release has been an absolute high priority for our Government. We have always rejected her conviction and detention and I join with all Australians in praising Dr Moore-Gilbert and her family for their courage, strength and patience as we have all worked tirelessly together to secure her release. I also thank our amazing team of consular and other officials, our DFAT team, together with Minister Marise Payne, for doing such as outstanding job. Welcome home Kylie!
06.01.2022 Around 2.7 million Australians live with asthma - many of them suffering from severe asthma. That's why the Australian Government is extending asthma medicines on the PBS. Since 2013, we have approved over 2,600 new or amended listings on the PBS, an overall investment of $13 billion.

05.01.2022 One of our greatest responsibilities is to keep our children safe. The Morrison Government established the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation in 2018 to address the growing exploitation of children online. The incredible team working at the Centre that I met have a steely resolve but are also incredibly compassionate.... And it’s making a huge difference. Last year the AFP charged 191 people with 1847 alleged offences and 89 children were removed from harm.

02.01.2022 For nearly 80 years, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh served his Crown, his country and the Commonwealth. It was a life of duty, service, loyalty and honour. The Duke’s deep affection for Australia saw him visit on more than 20 occasions and be Patron or President to almost 50 Australian organisations. You can join me in giving thanks for Prince Philip’s life of service and send your love and deepest condolences to Her Majesty and all the Royal family at this time o...f sorrow by signing the condolence book at my office. 01.01.2022 It’s here! The two-way travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand has just opened, making us the envy of the world. Today’s milestone is a win-win for Aust...ralians and New Zealanders, boosting our economies while keeping our people safe and just in time for ANZAC Day this Sunday. It will allow friends and family across the Tasman to re-unite for the first time in over a year. 5,000 people are expected to travel on flights to and from New Zealand today. This is the next step in our road out of COVID-19 and is only possible because of the hard work to date of both countries in managing and suppressing the virus, which means we can open up to each other safely. It’s also good news for jobs with Qantas reporting this morning 630 of their staff returned to work this morning as a result of the bubble.
