24.01.2022 There’s many of these welded onto govt Departments who are tasked time after time with great responsibilities and they not only short change their workers but they short change our communities when delivering important public services.

A guard of h...onour formed by Forest Fire Management Victoria colleagues was a moving tribute to a wonderful man. After 40 years of dedication to the state of Victoria, Bill will be missed by many. 16.01.2022 Birthday Girl. Its the day not the year as they say. Happy Birthday to me

16.01.2022 I did an interview this morning about the Governments decision to build an Intensive Intervention Unit (IIU) to help people in Youth Justice who have serious violent behaviours rectify these behaviours, so they can have a constructive life back in the community. I have been participating in the consultative forums for a few months now, arguing for a change that will provide a safe working environment for our youth justice workers. I welcome the governments decision to try ...and find a facility, whether inside in the existing two sites or outside, to separate those clients who continuously undertake acts of violence against other clients and staff. Its a small cohort about 10% who create issues for staff and other young people at these facilities and the high number of young people on remand needing to be accommodated is adding to the pressures inside. From November to March weve had over 300 incidents against staff. The violence against staff is significant and is creating trauma across the board, not just for the ones that are assaulted, but also staff who witness it can get significant vicarious trauma to the point that many people are frightened to come to work. CPSU supports an Intensive Supervision Unit which will be structured and has experienced skilled staff - meaning staff on units will be able to develop teams and not be afraid to come to work. We need this yesterday.

15.01.2022 Zelda D'Aprano, working for the Meat Industry Union, chained herself to the doors of the Commonwealth Building during her lunch break on this day in 1969. She was protesting a recent failure by the Arbitration Commission to award Equal Pay. Ten days later, she was joined by Alva Geikie and Thelma Solomon, and they chained themselves to the doors of the Arbitration Court. Union women continue to take action to win justice for working women. Hear tonight from some unions winning change today. https://www.unionwomen.org.au/zelda_d_aprano_union_women_fo
