25.01.2022 A nice reminder
25.01.2022 Namaste fabulous Narangba yogis Please bring a blanket and strap to tomorrows class [Update: If you dont own a yoga strap, I have a supply of straps at the hall that you can use. A towel, scarf, or cloth belt can be used instead if you prefer to have your own equipment ]
25.01.2022 You are not your emotions or thoughts, but are the awareness behind them
24.01.2022 The courageous Rosa Parks practiced yoga. Rosa is known for claiming her power and changing the world for the better
24.01.2022 Yogis aim to slow down the breath, and therefore take as few breaths as possible in a lifetime. The ability to improve the quality of the breath - which takes practice - has many health benefits, and therefore can support longevity. As Dr Greger explains in his blog, slower breaths tone the vagus nerve which can help prevent chronic medical conditions, such as depression.
23.01.2022 Namaste dear yogis . Ive just checked the Chief Health Officer's Non-Essential Business, Activity and Undertaking Closure Direction (No. 10) effective from 16th May and it appears that although community centres are allowed to reopen, indoor sporting activities are not yet allowed. Apologies for my mistake. According to the roadmap below, if all goes well I can recommence class on June 13th. Enjoy the sunshine and I look forward to seeing you next month
23.01.2022 Yoga is a great remedy for a scattered mind. Drishti, or focused gaze, is a technique used in yoga which helps tune out the noise and relax. It relates to the fifth and sixth limbs of yoga - Pratyhara (withdrawal of the senses) and Dharana (concentration). Drishti allows us to see divinity in all things. Yoga is on every Saturday morning at Narangba Community Hall starting at 8am. My class operates under a COVID Safe Checklist as a business and is not affected by restrictions on private gatherings announced last month. There is no need to book in advance because there is ample space for social distancing. I look forward to sharing yoga with you
22.01.2022 Namaste beautiful Narangba yogis Just a reminder that this Saturdays class on February 8 is cancelled because I have a work commitment. I look forward to sharing yoga with you next week. Have a wonderful weekend
21.01.2022 Namaste dear yogis . A directive from the state Chief Medical Officer was declared today to close all non-essential businesses to help contain the spread of COVID-19, as a result, my Saturday class at Narangba Hall is suspended until further notice. Class passes remain valid and can be used when class resumes. I have tentatively cancelled my hall hire booking until mid-May or until the restriction is lifted. In the meantime, I hope that you will continue to practise yoga at home, as I will. You may wish to practise along with my online yoga videos on my YouTube channel KarenParkerYoga. I will stay in touch through this Facebook page. Take care
20.01.2022 Yoga harmonises the inner with the outer Let go of force and be gentle when you need to. Be aware when there is a compulsion to consume and numb, dimming the light of pure awareness. This is a sign of imbalance. Be committed and disciplined. There is no deadline. Do it for your own liberation. Trust-love the practice. All will be laid before you in wondrous ways Yoga recommences at Narangba Community Hall this Saturday. Send me a message if you would like to book your spot. Bring your own mat and yoga equipment. I look forward to being your guide
20.01.2022 Master, how can I face isolation? - Clean your house. Thoroughly. In every corner. Even the ones you never felt like, the courage and the patience to play. Mak...e your house bright and well cared for. It removes dust, cobwebs, impurities. Even the most hidden. Your house represents you: if you take care of it, you also take care of yourself. - Master but the time is long. After taking care of me through my house, how can I live the isolation? - Fix what can be fixed and remove what you no longer need. Dedicate yourself to the patchwork, embroider the starts of your pants, sew well the frayed edges of your dresses, restore a piece of furniture, repair everything worth repairing. The rest, throw it away. With gratitude. And with the awareness that its cycle has ended. Fixing and removing outside of yourself allows you to fix or remove what's inside of you. - Master and then what? What can I do all the time alone? - Sowing. Even a seed in a vase. Take care of a plant, water it every day, talk to it, give it a name, remove the dry leaves and weeds that can suffocate it and steal precious vital energy. It is a way of caring for your inner seeds, your desires, your intentions, your ideals. - Master and if the void comes to visit me? ... If fear of illness and death come? - Talk to them. Prepare the table for them too, reserve a place for each of your fears. Invite them to dinner with you. And ask them why they came from so far to your house. What message do they want to bring you. What do they want to communicate to you. - Master, I don't think I can do this ... - It is not isolation your problem, but the fear of facing your inner dragons. Those that you always wanted to get away from you. Now you can't run away. Look them in the eyes, listen to them and you will discover that they put you against the wall. They've isolated you so they can talk to you. Like the seeds that can only sprout if they are alone. ~~Zen Life /author unknown

14.01.2022 Namaste fabulous Narangba yogis . Community centres are permitted to reopen under conditions from this Saturday 16th May. One of the conditions is that no more than 10 people are in the hall at anytime, so bookings are essential. Please contact me if you would like to book your place. The website will be updated shortly. Please bring your own yoga mat as no equipment will be supplied during this time. I look forward to seeing you back on the mat
14.01.2022 A nutritious shepherd's pie using Fable plant-based beef and lentils with sauteed kale. The Fable "beef" product is made from shitake mushrooms. It's amazing how much it tastes and feels like beef. I followed the recipe from the Fable website if you are interested in trying it https://fablefood.co/. Cows are sacred animals in Hinduism, which Yoga stems from. They are said to be the holder of numerous spiritual avatars or gods. They are emotional beings and want to nurt...ure their young. They are also one of the most abused animals in factory farming. One of the first principles of Yoga is Ahimsa - non-violence. On the yogic path, we try to minimise harm to ourselves and others, including killing animals. Yoga brings about greater awareness - realising what is serving our greater good and what is not. This means shedding light on conditioned patterns and beliefs, things we've taken for granted or have had emotional attachment to, and be willing to change. Be aware of how the food on your plate got there. Namaste See more
14.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who joined me for yoga at Norfolk Lakes Park today. There was light rain when we started, but it soon stopped and the clouds parted revealing blue sky. We were blessed with a rainbow too. I think we were a curiosity to a purple swamp hen and magpie who were foraging nearby. It was wonderfully refreshing

13.01.2022 Namaste fabulous yogis My last class at Narangba Hall is drawing near - only 2 more Saturdays to go. As a farewell get-together, I invite you to join me for a beverage, and maybe a bite to eat, at The Hideout cafe on Main Street, Narangba, after next Saturday's class (20th November). I look forward to seeing you there Picture credit: https://breathetogetheryoga.com/mth/
12.01.2022 Happy New Year Fabulous Yogis Class recommences at Narangba Community Hall this Saturday at 8am. All are welcome . We will reflect upon the year just passed and lovingly let go of attachment to it so there is space for the new and changing. You may wish to reflect on 2019 before coming to class. Take your mind back over the year and observe your experiences. From a higher perspective, there is an understanding that all experiences help us to learn and grow
12.01.2022 Namaste amazing yogis Since you will need to have your own yoga mat and equipment for class, I'd like to remind you that I have a supply of anti-bacterial yoga mats for sale for $45 each. They are 6 mm thick and 188 cms long - thicker and longer than most yoga mats and therefore provide better cushioning on hard floors, as well as, more surface area to stretch out. The available colours are: teal; purple; blue; and black. They are suitable for Hatha Yoga and gentle yoga... styles, but not suitable for sweaty vigorous styles of yoga, such as Ashtanga, because they are not super grippy. If you would like to purchase one, you can pay by cash or PayPal and collect the mat from me at the Hall. Please let me know which Saturday you'll come to collect it, so that I can bring it in for you. Please visit my website for more details http://www.feelgoodyogaqld.com/products.html
12.01.2022 Namaste fabulous yogis Next Saturday's class on December 5 will be held outdoors at Norfolk Lakes Park on MacDonald Drive, Narangba, starting at 7:30am - a little earlier than usual. The price is $12 - your class pass can be used. Please bring your own mat and wear sun protection. Let's meet near the children's playground. I look forward to sharing yoga with you
11.01.2022 Thanks to social media, there are so many examples that show that it is possible to be vibrant, strong and agile for life. Explore your potential
11.01.2022 Class has finished for the year but you can join me online through my YouTube Channel KarenParkerYoga where you can find lots of yoga classes of different durations. After a two week break, class will recommence on January 4th. Thanks to everyone who came to my class this year. It was a dream come true to fill the hall during the Moreton Bay Council's Healthy and Active Program - a highlight of my teaching journey to share yoga with such a large and diverse group of people.... We moved and breathed together in peace and love. It was 10 years ago that I started teaching yoga at Narangba Hall and I still enjoy teaching yoga as much as I did when I started. A client who attended the first class attended last Saturday's class, along with others who have been coming to my class regularly for months, and some, years. As I have a regular job during the week, I have only been able to offer one class on Saturdays for several years now. We come together for just 75 minutes a week with the very occasional tea and chat after class, yet a peaceful friendly community emerged from this. In yoga, this is called Sangha - a coming together of like-minded individuals on the yogic path. I haven't forgotten the online Sangha that has blossomed from my YouTube Channel too. My channel has reached 3000 subscribers and I have come to know people who have practised along with my yoga videos for years. It is a beautiful thing. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year See more
10.01.2022 Just a reminder that tomorrow's class will be held outdoors at Norfolk Lakes Park in Narangba, pending favourable weather. Practicing yoga in nature enlivens the senses and calms the nervous system. You may wish to bring a picnic blanket or tarp to lay under your yoga mat as the morning grass will be wet. If you would like to join us, please contact me to book your spot, and for a cashless payment, please visit my feelgoodyogaqld website to pay by PayPal - there is a pricing option for outdoor yoga. As mentioned in the last post, you can use your class pass if you have one. Feel free to book tomorrow morning. I look forward to sharing yoga with you
09.01.2022 Namaste fabulous Narangba yogis Class on Saturday March 28th has been cancelled because the Hall will be used by another hirer for the day. I decided not to shift the class to the smaller Dance Room during this time when we need to maintain distance from others. At this stage, class will resume in the spacious Main Hall on April 4th. Take care
09.01.2022 Namaste beautiful Narangba yogis. Next Saturday, Easter Saturday, the hall will not be available, so weather permitting, I will be holding my yoga class outdoors at Norfolk Lakes Park on MacDonald Drive instead. The class will start at 8am and will go for 60 minutes. The price is $12 - you can use your class pass. Bookings are required. Please message me if you would like to come. 08.01.2022 There are 5 Yamas that guide a yogi to live an ethical and moral life. Ahimsa is the first, and it means non-violence - in action, thought or deed. Our yoga practice can gently shine a light on where we may be harming ourselves and others, and inspire change. One way to minimise harm to ourselves, animals and the Earth is to reduce, or eliminate, meat from the diet. If you like Thai flavours, try this quick and easy Thai red curry stir fry for one with enough for lunch the... next day. Youll need: 0.5 tbspn of oil; 0.5 brown onion thinly sliced; 1.5 cloves garlic crushed and finally chopped; 1.5 tablespoons of Thai red curry paste (the brands Ayam and Five Tastes are vegan); 200 g firm tofu, cut into 1-2 cm cubes; 0.5 red capsicum; 0.5 carrot; vegetables of your choice - I used what I had in the crisper - a couple of handfuls of cauliflower and broccolini; 165 ml can of coconut milk; a tspn of sugar; a tspn of vegan fish sauce (can be purchased from Asian grocery stores, such as Sunlit) or soya sauce; a squeeze of lime juice; fresh basil to garnish (basil can be frozen for when you need it). To cook: Heat oil, sauté onion, garlic, carrots (and any other hard vegetables that take longer to cook), and tofu until they change colour. Then add curry paste and sauté for 1 minute or until fragrant. Add coconut milk, sugar, vegan fish sauce/soya sauce and stir for a couple of minutes. Add fast cooking vegetables that you want to retain some crunch, such as capsicum and broccolini. Add a squeeze of lime juice - about a teaspoon. Taste and adjust seasoning to your liking. Stir fry on medium heat for a couple more minutes. Then switch off heat and cover for a few minutes - the vegetables will continue to cook. Sprinkle basil on top and serve with steamed rice. I also added some fried shallot on top for extra crunch and taste. Enjoy! See more
07.01.2022 Meditation with Max
06.01.2022 Yoga helps reduce anxiety. Pranayama - controlled breathing - plays an important role in this. We practiced a variety of pranayama techniques that calm the nervous system in the lead up to the suspension of class including, maharaja pranayama, brahmari, nadi shodana, visamavrtti pranayama. Practice pranayama daily without strain to increase lung capacity and switch to parasympathetic mode

02.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who joined me for yoga in the park this morning . The sun was shining and the park was alive with activity. There was an abundance of butterflies flying around. They are a symbol of change and my chosen totem to remind myself that I am loving awareness. Like many living beings that share our Earth, their life is fleeting but purposeful. I wonder if they take time to just sit, relax, and take in the beauty of their surrounds like we do. I’m guessing they do Class is back at Narangba Community Hall next week. I look forward to seeing you then

31.10.2021 Regular attendees to my Narangba class are aware that my class at the community hall will be coming to an end on 27th November. The class has been running for more than a decade. I'm grateful to everyone who has come to the class, sustaining it for so long. There are several personal and external factors that have led to my decision, which I won't go into here. I feel that it has served its purpose of sharing the marvelous benefits of yoga with the local community over th...e years. With waning demand, it is now time to let it go. All class passes purchased in the past and from now on will expire on 27/11/2021. If you have an outstanding class pass, you can share it with others. This means you can come to class with other people and use the same pass, or let others use it without you. Until mid-October, I am offering 5-class passes for $70 or $60 concession. Alternatively, a casual class fee is $15. The first class $10 offer still remains. Next Saturday's class will be in the Narangba Main Hall Picture credit: https://bit.ly/3BJidrI See more
