18.01.2022 Interesting article in the AFR today which, unfortunately, i can't share due to FB's current position on news sharing...but here's the summary.... It's been reported that some major banks are taking up to 60 working days to approve mortgages ! This is a huge increase from the usual 20 days or less. Barry Thatcher, of Thatcher Finance, which specialises in residential and commercial mortgages, adds: All the major banks are very slow and, in many cases, are not picking up f...iles for a first review for 15-20 days, as opposed to second-tier banks that have managed to keep processing times to one to three days. Key takeaway : Ensure your per-approvals are all in order as early as possible Build the relationship with your bank or broker Find out what is required for final approvals and have it ready The more prepared you are, the less chance of missing out on a property through approval delays. Price is not the only factor for vendors, favorable settlement terms also play a big part in offer acceptance.
