25.01.2022 IMPORTANT: I have just received answers to the many questions coming to my office about animal rescue and care in Victoria. Firstly, I want to share some good n...ews for shelters and rescues. Adoptions CAN continue under specific rules. I am so glad my conversations with the Andrews Government have come to a sensible result. A big thank you to all of the shelters, rescuers and concerned animal lovers who swiftly brought it to my attention. Wildlife and animal rescue can also continue, including supplying care, but rescuers (this includes volunteers) must fill out a permitted industry form here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/permitted-worker-scheme-covid-19 Read the full DHHS update on animal rescue, adoption and care here: https://www.business.vic.gov.au//agriculture,-forestry-and Read the DELWP update on wildlife rescue and care here: https://www.wildlife.vic.gov.au//sick-injured-or-orphaned- Please share this post and tag anyone you think needs to know.

11.01.2022 Million Paws Walk is Australia’s biggest dog walking event and holds a special place in the hearts of many people and their pooches. While it is a great day whe...re we all come together and celebrate our love for dogs, the safety and wellbeing of our supporters, volunteers, staff and animals has always been our priority. As a result, it is with great difficultly that due to recent developments concerning COVID-19, we will no longer be able to hold the public event being held on Sunday 17 May. But don’t put away your activewear just yet! We’re working around the clock to make sure animal lovers can still celebrate and support animals in need this May. After all, it is our favourite day of the year and so important for animal welfare! We’re excited to launch ‘Million Paws Walk: Walk This May’ your fun excuse to (responsibly) walk your dog and still raise money for animals in need. While social distancing is a national priority, our dogs still need enrichment and exercise. And funnily enough, the average length of a standard dog lead is 1.8 metres which is a pretty good indication of a safe distance between you and other people! You can log your minutes walked on your fundraising page from now until the end of May. You can do this by using the pawdometre on your fundraising page. To ensure important work against animal cruelty can continue, if you have already registered for the event, we’re asking if you’d allow us to transfer your ticket purchases to a tax-deductible donation. Of course, if you prefer to have the cost of your ticket refunded please complete the form available online here https://www.millionpawswalk.com.au/refund As we navigate the coming weeks, we will be sharing more information on how you can ‘Walk this May’ in support of Million Paws Walk and help us continue the fight against animal cruelty.
