25.01.2022 The truth is that everyone you see here on Instagram started somewhere. For me, I started my own business 5 years ago after realising that a 9-5 job just didn't fit into my lifestyle anymore #mumlife. Plus, working for someone else was unsatisfying, dull and soul-destroying. And tbh working with corporate lawyers was NOT like Suits the TV show (if it was I'd still be there and probably working overtime). Really, I wish it was... bu...t the reality was that while they were wearing suits, they were sweaty, old, boring and more like Louis from Suits ! ha So let's bring it back to the point of all this... it's that you have to start somewhere! And let this be a reminder to you... Just believe that if you're willing to show up for yourself, if you're willing to do the work, if you're willing to be honest with yourself about what needs to change... you will make it. It's only a matter of time. But you have to be willing to take the first step and start somewhere. Even if it's messy, terrifying, and imperfect. Drop a below if this resonated with you. 25.01.2022 NEW ON THE BLOG I interview Krystal from KrystalClear Virtual Assistant who has been a VA for a couple of years now. 20.01.2022 "I went into the VA industry similar to a headless chook, I wanted to just find my way through and figure it out as I go along. I was struggling with certain aspects that I didn't even know I needed. Accounting had never been my strong suit and I didn't even think about it in the slightest, neither did I think about all the onboarding and contracts needed. Karen really made me understand the nitty gritty of starting a business and how we needed to set it up properly and go ...about everything the right way and in a way that would set us up for success. Share your tips with each other in the comments! 1) Ensure your desk chair and computer are set to the correct height. This will encourage good posture and will keep your back and neck in good health. ... 2) Stretch your legs and body frequently - walk to the bathroom, take a brisk walk at lunch, and stretch your arms up high to the sky and down low to your toes 3) Prepare healthy lunches and snacks that you look forward to. Eating a wholesome diet will have a positive impact on your mind and body. 4) Create space to pause and breathe little breaks of 5 minutes can do amazing things to your mindset and stress levels. 07.01.2022 How many times have you wanted to start working as a virtual assistant, only to be completely overwhelmed by all the information out there Finding Clients. Services. Prices. Marketing Yourself. Graphics. Tech Tools. Social Media. I totally get it! When I tried starting my own VA business 5 years ago, I almost gave up completely.... I completely underestimated the amount of time and energy it took to set up my online virtual assistant business, successfully. I threw myself in the deep end, saying yes to any client, trying to complete tasks I was clueless about, and spending countless hours googling how to do each task but only billing for half the time. I was frazzled trying to meet crazy deadlines for multiple clients All while still trying to juggle kids commitments & family life Was it profitable? Yes, eventually. Was it fun and would I recommend it? No But I stuck with it.... Smoothing out the kinks and becoming organised so that now I have a tried and tested framework that makes setting up your VA business less stressful and overwhelming. 07.01.2022 THIS IS A TRICK QUESTION but essentially it depends what stage of business you're in. Are you just getting started on your business journey, setting up for the first time? If this is you, keeping your expenses low is pretty important especially if you're not bringing in consistent cash yet. If you've been in biz for a little while and making money consistently you might want to consider a paid accounting software.... Either way you want to know and understand your numbers so that you know whether you have a viable business module and so that you know what you need to make each month to cover your household and business expenses. 05.01.2022 This is by far the number one question I get asked all the time "HOW DO I FIND CLIENTS AS A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT?" I get it... it can feel overwhelming not knowing where to start looking. Especially if you're just starting out as a VA. It's all new and it can feel a bit scary too. And I know that this can be what holds you back from taking that first step towards working as a virtual assistant. ... The good news is that it's easier than you think... Here's 3 tips I'll share with you: 1 TELL PEOPLE! Yup get the word out. Tell your family, friends, hairdresser, and anyone who’ll listen that you have started working as a VA and you're looking for clients. Get the word out that you're open for business! Chances are that a friend of a friend will know someone that needs help. 2 POST TO SOCIAL MEDIA: Start posting on your social media accounts like Instagram and Facebook and introduce yourself. Talk about what services you are offering and that you are ready to take on new clients. 3 GET SET UP PROPERLY: Set up the foundations of your VA business properly so that you're organised and ready to hit the ground running when that first client needs your help!
