25.01.2022 Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. Ill meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other... doesnt make any sense. The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Dont go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Dont go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Dont go back to sleep. ~ Rumi From A Great Wagon Enjoy your morning, enjoy your day, enjoy this beautiful world. Every moment of it.

25.01.2022 Every night I lie in bed The brightest colours fill my head A million dreams are keeping me awake I think of what the world could be A vision of the one I see... A million dreams is all it's gonna take... Merry Christmas everyone. May you have the brightest colours shining inside and a million dreams. Karen Lyrics from A million dreams Song by Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Ziv Zaifman

25.01.2022 "I think the most important question facing humanity is, ‘Is the universe a friendly place?’ This is the first and most basic question all people must answer for themselves. For if we decide that the universe is an unfriendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to achieve safety and power by creating bigger walls to keep out the unfriendliness and bigger weapons to destroy all that which is unfriendly and I believe th...at we are getting to a place where technology is powerful enough that we may either completely isolate or destroy ourselves as well in this process. If we decide that the universe is neither friendly nor unfriendly and that God is essentially ‘playing dice with the universe’, then we are simply victims to the random toss of the dice and our lives have no real purpose or meaning. But if we decide that the universe is a friendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to create tools and models for understanding that universe. Because power and safety will come through understanding its workings and its motives." 25.01.2022 This tiny flower on a little path near my house has become like a good friend. Stay well little friend and keep on blooming! I will pop by again tomorrow to say hello! Ok, maybe this lockdown has sent me a little loopy, but anything for a laugh in this household.....AND anything that connects us more with nature, is a good thing IMHO.... I have been reading Sarah Wilsons new book This one wild and precious life and there are so many gems I would love to share...but for now I will share this: One study showed that a mere 20 minute walk among trees lowered levels of salivary cortisol (the stress hormone) by 53 per cent. Even just living close to parkland with trees has been shown to reduce our chances of developing mental health issues... It has been a good day! Nature is awesome Karen

22.01.2022 ENOUGH-NESS Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else. Your completeness must be understood by you and experienced in your thoughts as your own personal reality. ~ Wayne Dyer ... Who else find practicing Yoga can work like magic to help get out of a funk, clear the fog, re-discover and uncover one’s enough-ness?

22.01.2022 I was sky gazing at sunset. What a beautiful world we live in. Every moment is an opportunity to experience the beauty. Every moment is an invitation to be right here.

21.01.2022 Acknowledging some days are easier than others, and to let go of expectations, I set my intention to #findjoy and #seebeauty and #lovelife . Is it weird that I am excited about my veggie patch which is so far mainly compost? Either way weird is good, and I have some seedlings from a friend and I have discovered the more time I spend in the garden (so far mainly pulling out weeds, relocating snails, and getting compost out of compost bin) the better I sleep at night . T...hat and I practice Yoga . And I have a new hobby that isnt really new, its just that its free and theres no rules gazing at flowers and leaves and trees and clouds and the sky on my #dailywalk . I was chatting via message with a new Instagram friend, she also shares my #naturelove and we wrote about how things seem to be under a looking glass. 21.01.2022 Breathing is now top of my priorities. Or more to the point, enjoying each breath. May all breathe with ease. Im sending healing prayers to those who are unwell today. Loved seeing beautiful souls for Yoga classes today. We practiced the full Yoga breath. ...

20.01.2022 Sleep for me was a bit rubbish last night, I was wide awake at 3am, and my nervous system is feeling out of its window of tolerance (AKA anxiety) And so...a good 20 mins of this pose for me. And breath awareness. And inner body awareness. And simply BEING. Did I mention how much I love Restorative Yoga? There’s @puff.the.kitten snoozing in her fav comfy spot behind me and Beatrice is snoozing too. It has been fabulous to see students for classes so far this week, both here in the yoga room and in the zoom yoga room. 18.01.2022 Another day and another walk in my #5kmbubble this morning (okay I admit it was after 12 again BUT again it seemed like morning) . After checking my bubble in the app, to decide which direction to go, I decided to head west! A change is as good as a holiday they say! Let me not pause on the word holiday for too long here...Anyway the walk turned out to be hilly and muddy and rainy...never mind, although at one point I had a vision of me making a phone call to ask to be rescued when I thought my boots and feet were going to be swallowed by the mud. I made it home in one piece and slightly muddier and sweatier than before. Stopped to admire more flowers and raindrops and trees on the way (more in stories)...and this bee . How was everyones Sunday?

18.01.2022 Go to a wide-open space, Gaze without looking anywhere. The mind stops its building of thoughts, And rests on its own foundation - ... Immensity. The light that you see by Is the light that comes from inside. ~ from The Radiance Sutras The ancient name of the Radiance Sutras is the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, part of the ancient tantras, and one of the early Yoga meditation teachings. So old we dont know how old exactly, but estimated at thousands of years. I like the translation Lorin Roche also provides in the prelude ...the terror and joy of realizing oneness with the soul.

17.01.2022 You are that which you seek. You are whole. There is nothing you lack. You have everything within. This morning as I sat gazing at the colours changing in the sky, from my meditation spot by my window, I decided to re-read some of my journal writing from my time on retreat at Maitripa. ... These are words I wrote. And also much more. It was just a few months ago I was there. It seems like a world away? And yet, a constant beautiful peaceful presence. This photo of the flowering wattle is from the Yarra Valley trail, a short walk away. Om shanti Karen

17.01.2022 My intention is to create a safe and peaceful practice, so that each student may deepen their awareness and connect to their inner-most-self, and to learn not just about the practices of Yoga & meditation, but to get curious and learn more about themselves. SO grateful for the wonderful people who join me each week...some several times a week. Its a beautiful little community! I offer Restorative Yoga sessions, Yoga Nidra meditation sessions, and Hatha Yoga sessions. ... Stay tuned for the next ONLINE mini-5 week-term. You may wish to join my mailing list (see link in bio)...to stay in the loop. Also, I sometimes share my yoga videos with those on my mailing list! Annnd...did you know I have a YouTube channel? Karen

17.01.2022 I opened up my visual diary, after removing the dust from the cover. I started this page in 2010....yes! Ten years ago! I know because I bought this visual diary before attending a silent yoga & meditation retreat with Sacred Earth that year...it was a blissful weekend I will never forget. So finally Ive finished this gratitude page. Ive also been participating in @inspiredbyyogainspiredbylife Amys 21 day gratitude challenge. And the reason I dusted off this diary is that... I am also journaling and drawing and writing about my yoga journey, with Anahatas guidance in the inside-out immersion for yoga teachers @oneheart_anahatagiri

16.01.2022 I have so much to write but I barely know where to begin. Feeling waves of sadness today. This scarf was a gift from a beautiful soul, a yoga student, thank you Kerry its so soft and I love it. ... Now I will share a tiny bit of my experience of wearing a mask. Is it my fav thing? No. Its harder to breath under the mask it has triggered anxiety for me. Do I agree we need to be wearing them? Yes. Since yesterday an additional ten people died in Victoria from Covid-19. Ten more families that have lost loved ones that most likely didnt get to sit beside or hold their hand as they died. I cannot imagine their grief. Thank you for reaching out this morning my dear Taz and to hear your voice meant a lot to me...those words were beautiful @inspireyogadesire Thank you also to my husband for dragging me out of the house and buying me a yummy carrot cake from the bakery for afternoon tea. #supportsmallbusiness And I also had a phone chat with my lovely mum, who lives in country Victoria. Its been a long while since Ive seen her and longer still since Ive hugged her, but it always good to hear her voice. I am reminded to not take things for granted, that each moment is precious, and to be grateful for all the little things. Keep safe and keep well everyone Karen EDITED TO ADD: I have received some private messages regarding this email, so I would like to clarify. The sadness I was/am feeling is because of people who have died and their families and the state of this Covid 19 pandemic in Melbourne. I have no sadness about wearing a mask. I believe wearing a mask is now essential.

16.01.2022 #Repost Option B Self-compassion comes from recognizing that our imperfections are part of being human. Those who can tap into it recover from hardship ...faster. @neffselfcompassion, a psychologist who specializes in self-compassion, sees it as giving ourselves the same kindness and care we’d give to a good friend. When we make mistakes or are unhappy with ourselves, many of us will self-criticize using words we would never say to another person. This not only takes a toll on our self-esteem, but also reduces our ability to show resilience in the face of difficult situations and can trigger physical reactions, such as spikes in the stress hormone cortisol. Being gentle with ourselves is key. In her book Self-Compassion, Neff cites a study that found that the more self-compassionate versus self-critical that people were, the lower their cortisol levels and the higher their heart rate variability when confronting stressful situations. Self-compassion is associated with greater happiness and satisfaction, fewer emotional difficulties, and less anxiety. As psychologist Mark Leary observes, self-compassion can be an antidote to the cruelty we sometimes inflict on ourselves. Let's be kind to ourselves. What is one nice thing you can say to yourself the next time you make a mistake? -- Shared from @neffselfcompassion - https://bit.ly/32lEr3B

16.01.2022 Forgive yourself For when you were awkward Forgive yourself For when you were mad Forgive yourself... For when you were disappointed Or unsure, or low, or sad Forgive yourself Whenever you think you are lazy Forgive yourself Whenever you’re somehow not up to par Forgive yourself For wishing things were different or better And know you are enough, more than enough, exactly as you are. ~ by me

15.01.2022 Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are ~ Jason Crandell ...and I will add...never ending learning about who I am, including embracing all my mistakes, misunderstandings, and imperfections along the way. ... Karen

15.01.2022 Totally embracing my Pranayama practice each morning. Conscious breathing is my anchor. [Photo by me; sunset over Lilydale]

14.01.2022 The air that you breathe is nature, as is the breathing process itself. Bring your attention to your breathing and realize that you are not doing it. It is the breath of nature. If you had to remember to breathe, you would soon die, and if you tried to stop breathing, nature would prevail. You reconnect with nature in the most intimate and powerful way by becoming aware of your breathing and learning to hold your attention there. This is a healing and deeply empowering thing... to do. It brings about a shift in consciousness from the conceptual world of thought to the inner realm of unconditioned consciousness. You need nature as your teacher to help you re-connect with Being. But not only do you need nature, it also needs you. Eckhart Tolle ~ ~ ~ ~ I have loved every second in the zoom yoga room this week. I have just said goodbye to beautiful souls I guided through a slow mindful breath-centred practice and then Yoga Nidra with the singing bowls. To those who joined me this week, I thank you for your dedication to yourself and I thank you for your yoga practice and being here within our beautiful little community. As we each raise our own consciousness, we raise it for all. Remember to be gentle with yourself. Karen PS: Photo from my daily walks in my neighbourhood...we are no longer in a 5km bubble, and yet there are precious memories within that bubble and connections to earth, sky, birds, trees, and nature that will always be.

13.01.2022 What you do for yourself, any gesture of kindness, any gesture of gentleness, any gesture of honesty and clear seeing toward yourself, will affect how you experience your world. In fact, it will transform how you experience the world. What you do for yourself, youre doing for others, and what you do for others, youre doing for yourself. ~ Pema Chödrön Artwork by @abeanpole

12.01.2022 Trust the energy that courses through you Trust then take surrender even deeper Be the energy... Don’t push anything away Follow each sensation back to its source in vastness and pure presence ~ Dana Faulds I shared these words last week in our zoom classes. Trust and surrender and being present...big, huge lessons for me, a never-ending journey of learning about myself. The photo from this mornings walk. Just a 30 min walk out my front door...As @lessonsoftheforest was saying this morning in her stories, I don’t go out there intending to take photos, but sometimes (okay more than sometimes ) I pause to admire and can’t help myself but capture the moment with my phone camera. Have a gorgeous day lovely ones! Karen

09.01.2022 Generally speaking, we regard discomfort in any form as bad news. But for practitioners or spiritual warriorspeople who have a certain hunger to know what is truefeelings like disappointment, embarrassment, irritation, resentment, anger, jealousy, and fear, instead of being bad news, are actually very clear moments that teach us where it is that were holding back. They teach us to perk up and lean in when we feel wed rather collapse and back away. Theyre like messeng...ers that show us, with terrifying clarity, exactly where were stuck. This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, lucky for us, its with us wherever we are. ~ Pema Chödrön Being in this current place, in Melbourne, in this lockdown, I may have used the word rollercoaster or coronacoaster a few times. Okay, a bit more than a few! Its good to be able to reach out to fellow Melbournites who get what that means. But, whether youre limited to a five km bubble like me, or whether you can roam wide and free, we are all affected by different emotions....do you back away, or do you lean in? If you havent listened to Pema Chödrön, theres a few excellent interviews on Spotify and I highly recommend...as well as her books. Let me know if youve read her books, and which ones? Hope everyone is ok Karen

08.01.2022 Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think were supposed to be and embracing who we are. Choosing authenticity means cultivating the courage to be imperfect, to set boundaries, and to allow ourselves to be vulnerable; exercising the compassion that comes from knowing that we are all made of strength and struggle; and nurturing the connection and sense of belonging that can only happen when we believe that we are enough. Authenticity demands Wholehearted living and lovingeven when its hard, even when were wrestling with the shame and fear of not being good enough, and especially when the joy is so intense that were afraid to let ourselves feel it. Mindfully practicing authenticity during our most soul-searching struggles is how we invite grace, joy, and gratitude into our lives. . Brené Brown

07.01.2022 What youre looking for is within you. . . I continue contemplating the impermanent nature of all things. I continue walking under trees and gazing into the sky. I continue contemplating being. .... . Photo taken the day before stage 4 restrictions commenced here in Melbourne ...at one of my fav places I will return soon! . . Karen See more

07.01.2022 Don't look for peace. Don't look for any other state than the one you are in now; otherwise, you will set up inner conflict and unconscious resistance. Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace becomes transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender. Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now These words, I shared in classes last week, and little... parts returned to me during little pauses. In those little moments, perhaps a pause between a breath in and a breath out...I would hear...dont look for any other state than the one you are in now....completely accept your non-peace....Maybe, eventually, one day, without trying, the grasping and wishing and even the believing will dissolve away. Its not when we get there but its the journey there. Little steps [ Photo by me on my #dailywalk in my #5kmbubble ]

05.01.2022 What will you do with it? What will you do with the discomfort of having your life as you know it taken away from you? What will you do with sudden change that you have no control over? What will you do with that feeling of helplessness? Your frustration? Your anger? Your pain? ....... This moment in time, for all humanity, is an opportunity to get to know our divine nature better. ...and That is true of every single life event. There is nothing that is more special or less special in terms of that. If we are willing to be humble enough, anything that occurs in our life, we can use to fire, to fuel, our awakening journey. These are the words of one of my teachers Ricci-Jane Adams. This morning, after my restorative class on zoom, after chasing cats and checking kids, I grabbed my phone, headphones, coat, boots, mask and set off out my front door for a walk ...and just caught a powerful talk live on FB by Ricci-jane, about the sacred, deeper meaning of the pandemic. Do you ever get that feeling, that youve heard it many times, from different people, in different words, and then theres that time it all seems to weave together and you say OH Yep!...?

03.01.2022 Within each of our forms lies the existential mystery of BEING. Apart from ones physical appearance, personality, gender, history, occupation, hopes and dreams, comings and goings, there lies an eerie silence, an abyss of stillness charged with an etheric presence. For all of our anxious business and obsession with triviality, we cannot completely deny this phantasmal essence at our core. And yet we do everything we can to avoid its stillness, its silence, its utter empt...iness and radiant intimacy. ~ Adyashanti, The Way of Liberation Im absolutely loving contemplating these words, and reading this book super slowly. Pausing, re-reading, pausing again. I was led to this book from the Tankrika institute; Im currently studying the foundations course...I was lead to the course and the institute after listening to Hareesh Wallis Near enemies to the truth series...I was lead to that series by @amyyogabizcoach ....check it out, it totally blows my mind! Who else loves contemplating being? Photo taken the day before stage 4 restrictions commenced here in Melbourne ...at one of my fav places I will return soon! Karen

02.01.2022 If this year has highlighted something for me it’s how important extreme self care is. Restorative Yoga .....yeeeeeesssss!

02.01.2022 One of my fav things to do this time of year, on behalf of my yoga students and friends, is to gather together the food/toiletries donations for a really great cause. Thank you so much to those who donated so generously! You have helped to make someone's Christmas a little brighter
