24.01.2022 [ wholistic healing: physical health ] Wholistic may as well be my middle name at this point. A part of wholistic healthcare that I havent touched on yet, but is pretty obvs, is your physical health ... Its important. What your body is doing, how its reacting and responding to the way you live is an important aspect of any healing journey, no doubt BUT, lets get it clear. Physical health does NOT equal what someone looks like Its about how you feel in your body AND whats going on inside (any pathology, inflammation, disease, measurable biomarkers, etc) Most people use physical health outcomes as their main driver and desire to get better, or usually wait until something goes *really* wrong physically before they do anything for their health. And this is fine if its what gets peeps to care about their wellbeing, but... Its only one small piece of your WHOLISTIC HEALTH puzzle Theres so much more to address & get curious about in regards to truly feeling BETTER: living a vibrant life AS WELL AS preventing illness! So, how are you feeling in your body right now? No matter what your body + being is going through at the moment, one thing thats universal is that our physical bodies could probs do with a lot more lovin #health #wellbeing #wellness #naturopathy #naturopath #onlinenaturopath #holistic #healing #wholistic #naturalmedicine #naturalremedy #nature #wholehealth #thrive #physicalhealth #preventionisbetterthancure #stress #disease #mentalhealth #hormones #hormonalhealth #womenshealth #femalehealth #beyondthephysical #preventionmedicine #naturecures #naturalhealthcoach #wholistictherapies #healthyliving #vibrant See more
24.01.2022 "Okay, I can track my cycles, but what should I actually be tracking?" This is something that I get asked a lot in my consults! And for good reason. 24.01.2022 [ herbal spotlight: Chaste Tree // Vitex agnus-castus ] Speaking of getting your period back... Vitex! I think I speak for a lot of naturopaths when I say this herb is our go-to for restoring cycle regularity and dealing with amenorrhoea (meaning no period)... Vitex is an awesome herb for supporting the hormones that fluctuate in your cycle, namely progesterone. And because of this, its also super useful for PMS and other issues that are fuelled by a progesterone-deficiency If youre thinking Vitex might be a useful herb for ya, let me know! Id be happy to help you source & find a dose that works for you And if its something you want to dive straight into, PLEASE buy from a reputable health food store with naturopaths that work on the floor (rather than just buying online). 22.01.2022 Its as simple as that, really. A [different] quote has stuck with me for the longest time (in fact, it used to be my insta bio ) "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. You always have a choice"... The first part comes from ancient Buddhist philosophy, when I first started reading the teachings of the Dalai Lama as a teenager In life, we experience pain. Without a doubt. Disease. Disasters. Loss. Disconnection. Global pandemics. But, its not a given that we must suffer in these states. The second part about always having a choice, I tacked on. It just seemed to make sense If youre not happy with something in your health, in your work, in your relationships, in your thoughts, in your community theres always an option for action. You always have a choice. Is there something thats been holding you back, or weighing you down, that you believe you cant change? What is it? (you dont have to share, but at least journal about it or make a note of it) And more importantly, what choices do you have in the matter? If youd like some help & natural guidance with an area of your health that you THINK cant be changed let me know. Im now offering Wholistic Connection Calls, so you can understand how my wholistic naturopathic approach can help you create *lasting* change in your life. First link in bio to book a sesh See more

21.01.2022 [ PCOS AWARENESS MONTH ] Managing #PCOS naturally? Yep, it can be done!... Lets break down the process: 1 Determine the ROOT CAUSE: together, well explore your symptoms, lifestyle, history & story to understand whats actually driving PCOS for you 2 Make FOUNDATIONAL changes: with the #rootcause in mind, well make some achievable adjustments to your lifestyle & with #FoodAsMedicine. These changes might be the hardest its certainly easier to pop a pill but they will be the key to sustaining your #health & #wellbeing over time! Example: if #inflammation is fuelling your symptoms, lets see where we can (1) remove PRO-inflammatory foods, habits, exposures and (2) introduce ANTI-inflammatory foods, habits & rituals 3 Apply HERBAL MEDICINE to support hormone balance: if we see that your #hormones are imbalanced (too much #oestrogen, not enough oestrogen, low #progesterone, high testosterone, high #cortisol, etc), we can use #herbs that are chosen with YOU & your PCOS in mind to help bring these back into normal #rhythm. The main aim here is to support regular #ovulation & optimal #HormoneMetabolism 4 Introduce CYCLE TRACKING to your life (if you havent already) This plays 2 main roles: 1. Observing and recording signs, symptoms, periods, #CervicalMucus changes, basal body temperature, #cravings, moods & energy ALL provide an insight into what your hormones are doing, and is a way of tuning into your body and tracking your progress AND 2. Get excited to ovulate! A common issue in PCOS is irregular cycles & not ovulating, and with this comes major fears of #infertility and not feeling normal or feminine enough. I truly believe I can make regular cycles possible for you, and I want you to believe that, too! Tracking your cycles will become part of the mindset shift necessary to heal If youre interested in taking this collaborative journey in natural healing together, let me know! Check out the link in my bio to connect with me and book your FREE Connection Call I also have some spots left for my Harmonised Hormones Package in September, where I walk you through all these steps & we map out your healing journey See more
19.01.2022 [ wholistic healing // exploring YOUR health story ] You come down with an illness, lets say, a bacterial infection. Its throwing you off, so you figure youll need to go to the doctors to get a diagnosis and some treatment Youve also got some other issues in the background: your "gut" doesnt feel quite right, and you might not be feeling great leading up to your period... but youve put up with it for years, so its probs not that bad, right?... You remember youve also been feeling really low-energy lately, a bit moody, and are having some trouble sleeping. It might just be stress. Hmm, probs not a big deal. You can just get an over-the-counter sleep tablet for that anyway Flash forward to the doctors office. They take a quick look at your issue, know exactly what it is and have the antibiotic script printed and signed in under 5 minutes. Great. Before you even remember your other health issues, youre out the door and heading for the pharmacy And, as expected, the antibiotics work. Youve no longer got the symptoms of your infection and can get back to normal But on your way back to normal, you might realise: "I dont actually feel better" "I didnt feel heard in that doctors room" "I didnt even have time to think about the other areas of my health" "Im more than just my symptoms and diagnosis" "I felt like nothing more than another script to fill" Well, not sure about you, but Ive DEFINITELY fallen into the above scenario. Way too many times. And it felt awful. It didnt feel healthful or helpful. It was more like time-and-disease management, rather than promoting the actual health of a real human being So, I wanted to be different. I want my clients to feel... better heard like I have time for them (because I do) like a whole, multi-faceted being with a unique experience (because they are) that Im there to help them (because I am) [ continued in comments ] See more

18.01.2022 [ harmonise your hormones // ] Insulin is the key that allows your cells to absorb the sugar that you eat, which is then used as energy Sounds simple enough, sure. But insulin has a HUGE impact on your health if its not working well, and certainly isnt just related to diabetes ... Swipe to check out the common (but not often investigated!) signs of insulin imbalance The most common issue with insulin & health nowadays is something called Insulin Resistance, and it goes a lil something like this: You eat food, the sugar from it gets absorbed into your blood, your cells need insulin to get the sugar out of the blood and converted to energy. But the cells arent responding to insulin theyre resistant to it. And again, you might be thinking, okay, but doesnt this just affect people with diabetes? what does this have to do with anything else?" Insulin Resistance is actually one of the underlying drivers of a common condition (that I see lots of in my clients, and even in myself!) called polycystic ovarian syndrome (you might know it as PCOS) And when PCOS gets started, LOTS of symptoms can pop up and your health, self-esteem and menstrual cycles can really take a hit Some simple tips for improving your insulin function: Balancing out the carbs/sugars in your meals with a good source of fat and protein (avocadoes, olive oil, beans, lentils, legumes + tofu, as some examples) Focusing on strength & muscle-building in your movement routines (get those dumbbells out!) Ensuring your body has enough Vitamin D, Magnesium & Zinc And my bonus herbal tidbit for the day is that the CINNAMON that you all know and love can help with insulin function & blood sugar control! (Make sure you use true Ceylon cinnamon from ya health food store) Let me know if you struggle with any of the listed symptoms and youre not sure why Insulin issues are more common than you think! comment below or send me a DM I love answering ya Qs #hormones #hormonalhealth #hormonal #energy #lowenergy #dietforPCOS #foodforPCOS #PCOSwarrior #naturalhealth #healing @ Camberwell, Victoria See more
18.01.2022 Had some thoughts about feelings that I wanted to share (as ya do). Specifically, letting go of the labelling when it comes to difficult emotions with an underlying physical cause (as is the case for many people experiencing PMS with anxiety, depression, irritability, rage, social isolation, negative self-talk, etc.) Even if there are hormonal / physiological accelerators behind your crappy feelings and moods, there doesnt *need* to be a physical reason for you to validate t...hose feelings. They are valid, by default, because you are human & experiencing life. Give yourself permission to ditch needing a label or reason for your feelings (yes, even if its PMS!), and just let the feeling be. (Chances are, its probably trying to tell you something, but dont worry too much about that either!) Have trust knowing that emotions are just like waves that rise and fall, ebb and flow, and that your difficult feelings will pass on their own. No need for resistance.

18.01.2022 Could these be sabotaging your iron absorption? Iron deficiency is a pretty tricky thing to treat! And it's such a common experience for myself & many of my clients. Our bodies are more likely to "reject" iron than absorb it, especially if it comes in high doses.... There are some factors that can inhibit iron absorption (whether you're eating iron-rich foods or taking a supplement), let's break it down: CALCIUM & ZINC These are 2 other minerals that compete with iron for absorption in your digestive tract. Avoid relying on iron supplementation from a multivitamin (where the minerals are mixed together and competing for uptake into your system!). Take your iron supp 2 hours away from other mineral supplements COFFEE & TEA Components of coffee and tea (including green & black tea) can inhibit iron function in the gut. FIBRE High fibre foods & supps such as psyllium husk do have the potential to limit mineral absorption in the gut, and that includes iron. TURMERIC Just when we thought turmeric was good for EVERYTHING! Lol, jk. While there was some evidence to suggest that curcumin (from turmeric) could block iron absorption, further studies didn't find this effect. If you're taking a turmeric supplement, this shouldn't impact your iron absorption unless it's a particularly high dose ROSEMARY (+ some other herbs) Rosemary has been shown to reduce the absorption of plant-based (non-heme) iron. Reconsider if you're want to use HEAPS of rosemary in an iron-rich meal. Chilli can also block iron absorption when added to food! And some more info especially for all you caption readers If there is inflammation in your body, or a bacterial imbalance in your digestive tract, your body will NOT absorb iron. Thanks to our bodies innate + divine intelligence, there are mechanisms in place to BLOCK iron absorption if there's a potential pathogen (bad bacteria, virus, fungal overgrowth) lurking in our bodies. Why? Because those pathogens can and WILL use our iron as THEIR fuel source, making it harder for our bodies to fight off that disease/infection. Pretty cool when you think about it, huh?! See more
18.01.2022 [ missing your period? ] While periods are often the target of much dislike, portrayed as an inconvenience, or experienced as an extreme discomfort, there are many women who are missing theirs. And it can be a cause for confusion, frustration and simply feeling not-quite-right. If youve been there, you know what I mean.... Its also a signal that your body is struggling to ovulate. Remember: ovulation is the MAIN EVENT of your menstrual cycle, and your [real] period is just a sign that you are in-fact ovulating. Its ovulation that orchestrates the symphony of hormones that flow in your cycle. No ovulation poor hormonal flow = you might not be feeling great. As a naturopath, I can help you explore your missing period, and help you get it back. There are natural, holistic ways we can support the body in ovulating. Using diet, nutrition + herbal medicine #holistictoolkit And remember, ovulation leads to a period. And regular ovulation = regular periods. Even better! 17.01.2022 This meal was the first one in a while where I actually made exactly what I felt like, and put some effort into cooking something nice for myself For me, this is a part of mindful + intuitive eating. Asking yourself some simple questions, and calmly tuning into the answers before rushing into a meal ?... - ? (.. , ?) , ? ? ? ? Not every meal has to look the same, or taste the same. You dont have the same nutritional requirements every day, or even at particular times of the day. Sometimes you need more or less. Sometimes you feel like savoury instead of sweet, and vice versa So it can be really empowering to mindfully match your food to your actual needs, rather than just going along with the "3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch n dinner; cereal for brekky, sandwich for lunch and meat with veg for dinner" Who created that norm anyway? Eat for you. 16.01.2022 [ herbal spotlight: Ginger // Zingiber officinale ] This herb has been my Winter go-to. So warming and healing. Ginger, my golly goodness. Its just GREAT! Why I use Ginger:... anti inflammatory: when I notice my joints or muscles are starting to ache, pinch or feel tense, I know its time for some Ginger to alleviate any inflammation thats affecting my movement + recovery period pain: as a preventative and as-needed remedy, Ginger is awesome for period pain & cramps. Again, there can be a lot of inflammation involved in period pain, and Ginger can help take the edge off this. I use it in the week leading up to my period (if you want to get a better understanding of your cycle & know when to expect your period, head over to @oh.my.menses) blood tonic / warming stimulant: when I feel my body just isnt switched on or my blood isnt pumping and flowing as much as Id like, I turn to Ginger (yknow those cold winter mornings where you dont wanna do anything simply because youre so cold? Yeah. Ginger is ace for those mornings) conductor: often herbalists & naturopaths will add a dash of Ginger to their herbal formulas as a carrier or conductor. Traditionally, Ginger has been used to help carry other herbs to the parts of the body where theyre needed (this comes back to Gingers ability to improve blood flow and circulation) You can use dried ginger root as a tea, fresh ginger in cooking or powdered #herbalmedicine #herbalism #herbaltonics #herbs #ginger #zingiber #antiinflammatory #naturalpainrelief #periodpain #periodcramps #musclerecovery #jointpain #bloodtonic #stimulating #naturopathy #onlinenaturopath #naturopathinmelbourne #health #healthyliving #hormones #healing #naturalmedicine #nature #wellness #wellbeing #healingpowerofnature #naturaltherapies #holistic #holistichealth #wholehealth See more
16.01.2022 [ harmonise your hormones: CORTISOL ] A major focus-area of mine within naturopathy is HORMONAL HEALTH and endocrinology. Theres *a lot* to it, but Id love to share what I know in hopes of helping you to heal Lets start with one weve probs all heard of. Or not. Anything goes ... Cortisol! This is the hormone that gets you up in the morning, ignites feelings of stress, in addition to a whole heap of other important jobs in your body! Your cortisol doesnt just stay at one level; it wont just be high or low. It follows a circadian rhythm where its *meant to* peak in the morning and stoop low by bed time Its when this rhythm gets a bit off-track that we experience difficulties with our sleep, stress response, immunity, energy levels, blood sugar and more We can investigate what your cortisol is up to, morning and night, through non-invasive saliva and urine testing. Bless these modern functional testing & diagnostic tools There are countless natural medicines + rituals in my wholistic, naturopathic toolkit to help you balance your cortisol & get it into a nice rhythm When we work on healing your cortisol levels, were looking at: being able to cope with stress better easy to wake and rise in the AM tired at night ensuring a good nights snooze less reliance on coffee or stimulants throughout the day regulating your immunity improving your focus + mood balancing any energy or blood sugar issues If you think you might have problems with your cortisol rhythm (and any other health issues related to stress, gut or hormonal health), Id love to work with you! Send me a DM or email (via my bio) to let me know whats going on for you, and lets see if Id be a good fit for your healing journey Hormonal hugs + love #hormones #hormonalhealth #womenshormones #hormonetesting #cortisol #stress #stressrelief #insomnia #sleep #naturalstresssolutions #naturopathyforstress #circadianrhythm #stressed #moody #tired #energy #dutchtest #naturopathy #naturopath #womensnaturopath #onlinenaturopath #endocrinology #immunity #quitcoffee #naturalmedicine #naturalremedies #holistichealth #healing #health @ Malvern, Victoria, Australia See more
15.01.2022 ~ just luteal phase things ~ While I don't really subscribe to the term "estrogen dominance", it is very common in clinic that we'll see estrogen that's a littttle too high, paired with less-than-ideal progesterone levels This cheeky combo can contribute to PMS and other menstrual cycle issues ... But why? Progesterone is the hormone that is supposed to dominate the luteal phase (the second half of your cycle) So if progesterone levels are struggling when they're meant to be thriving, and estrogen is too high for some reason, we get symptoms of hormonal imbalance The way through it is ensuring our body can metabolise estrogen efficiently, remove any factors that are causing excessive production of estrogens and support regular ovulation to boost progesterone See more
14.01.2022 [ know your neurotransmitters: serotonin ] A big key in managing my mental health has been keeping focus on neurotransmitters: what they are, how they work and how nutrients and herbal medicines impact them Meet serotonin, your feel-good neurotransmitter ... I like to think of serotonin as the big ole golden retriever at the dog park. The chilled-out one, happy-as-larry, totally fine with all the other dogs/kids/bikes/noises in the background just calm & content This warm n cosy substance, heavily influenced by your gut health, has the role of keeping you calm, relaxed & balanced When lacking, we can experience things like depression, anxiety & irritability While the major action of serotonin is on your mood & emotional state, having low serotonin can also impact your gut (constipation), appetite (more carbs pls), sleep (or lack thereof) and pain tolerance (less serotonin = more sensitive to pain) Swipe to see some symptoms that are linked to low serotonin. If you have 7 of the 12 listed, serotonin may be a good focus point for your healing journey But the fun part? What you eat (and any herbs you take) CAN improve your own production of serotonin! Feeling better could literally be a matter of what youre eating! Some supportive nutrients that boost your serotonin include tryptophan (from protein), vitamin B3 & B6, as well as folate. Are you getting enough of these nutrients from your diet? And even if you are, is your gut microbiota balanced & helping serotonin in your body, or inhibiting it? These are the questions I love finding the answers to while exploring your case wholistically & naturopathically If you think you might have some issues with your serotonin (which can also impact your menstrual cycles, gals!) and are wanting to get to the bottom of it, let me know! 14.01.2022 [ Herbal spotlight: Elderberry // Sambucus nigra ] Man, this berry-baby has been a popular one in my immune tonics lately! I first fell in love with Elderberry when I discovered its benefits for post-viral fatigue (anyone else cop a bad bout of glandular fever back in the day?)... Its also great for swollen glands & blocked sinuses, so a good one to go for if youre prone to things like tonsillitis or sinus infections And because Elderberry is the fkn best, its even useful for relieving the symptoms of a cold or flu, like fever, runny nose, cough and sore throat. Definitely one to keep in the cupboard during Winter! Enjoy Elderberry (and Elderflower, too!) as a tea tonic to help your immune system get the job done (DM if youre in Melb need help getting your hands on some ) And for those of you wondering, as common as this herb is in many an alcoholic beverage, its not quiiiiite the same as a medicinal form of Elder But, global pandemic, right? 14.01.2022 if ya got it, flaunt it. ... hormonal acne, that is. Now, depending on your journey with skin health + acne, you might look at this pic and think, "she barely got any acne/blemishes, tf is she worried about?"... But lemme tell ya! Acne, pimples, blackheads and my skin health was the main issue that plagued most of my adolescence! And obvs, physical appearance is not the most important part of our ~human experience~, but it CAN play a huge role in our self-esteem & confidence and ultimately our mental health Ive worked hard to get to the root cause of my pimple-problems (super important to go beyond the superficial!). And my work was defs cut out for me: I had suppressed my natural hormones for 5 years while taking the pill *while* I was still developing. Eeeep! So coming off the pill, my skin was like "wooooooah, whats goin on?!" And my acne hit its PEAK And now? I honestly cant believe that a couple bumps and lumps before my period is the worst flare-up I get nowadays, enjoying clear skin for most (if not all) of my cycle. Its one of the many benefits of hormone-informed wholistic care & natural medicine. It aint my fave topic for no reason! Curious to know more about your hormones and how to harness them? 13.01.2022 [ learning to love your ] we’ve reached the second half of the cycle: our inner downtime, like a hormonal winter the luteal phase is probably the phase that gets the worst wrap. let’s break her down... [ the physiology ] so you’ve bled, a couple of weeks* have passed, you’ve reached this beautiful ovulatory peak now what? oestrogen peaks for ovulation, and after those 24 hours, it drops sharply. this sharp drop can cause a shift in your energy, mood, body and perspective but all is not lost and forgotten after ovulating: the outer layer of the follicle that was released your ‘corpus luteum’ plays a huge role in orchestrating your luteal phase its main job is to release progesterone, the dominant hormone in the second half of your cycle. the role of progesterone is to support a pregnancy (if the released egg was fertilised within 24 hours) your uterine lining starts to develop again to (1) support implantation if conception occurs, or (2) be shed again at your next period; to begin a new cycle [ your experience ] depending on your hormones during this phase the relationship between oestrogen + progesterone you may feel a variety of different things for most women, this is the phase where PMS symptoms will peak. self-doubt begins to creep in. social tension can increase. you may feel withdrawn. you may notice your body changes... a little, or a lot I often find this phase leads me towards all things soothing, comforting and cozy. not always helpful, but sometimes you just need to stop + honour your body’s call [ symbolism ] this phase can be a powerful point in your cycle, but in a darker, more transformative way. shadows and issues that have been dismissed may come to the surface. you may feel connected to: solitude; grounding working with the darker parts of your self deep reflection comfort in all forms the need for reassurance, open-hearted support + empathy most importantly, remember to have empathy + compassion for yourself during this time; do the basic things that help you feel cared for + supported you are worthy of care, support + love See more

Ensuring your body has enough Vitamin D, Magnesium & Zinc And my bonus herbal tidbit for the day is that the CINNAMON that you all know and love can help with insulin function & blood sugar control!

12.01.2022 [ improving PMS, naturally ] PMS is tricky business at the best of times... and absolutely life-altering, debilitating and soul-crushing at the worst of times ... Helping menstruators experiencing PMS is a healing journey very close to my heart, as its something I struggled with for YEARS And for most of that time, I had very little understanding of what was happening in my body, what my hormones were doing (or why), and most importantly, how I could change this part of my life without using pharmaceuticals or interfering with my natural cycle (reminder: your cycle is important. very important) And not understanding or knowing what to do left me feeling shit, helpless and disempowered For just a portion of my cycle, I was depressed fatigued sore severely anxious socially avoidant overwhelmed & confused It took months of research, trial-and-error, and essentially a life-overhaul to find the root cause of my PMS, address underlying issues and implement changes that worked for MY life But damn, when I got it right and found my flow, I felt like a whole new person. And o m f g, the first cycle I had where I didnt experience PMS at all for the first time in ever, I was so overjoyed that I cried* *not due to PMS, I swear And I owe all this to cycle awareness, preventative measures + nature-based medicine As a wholistic, female health & hormone-focused naturopath, I would love to help you work through your PMS journey I want to take the guess-work out of the equation for you, and help you find your way out of the doom and gloom that can be chronic + recurrent PMS Send me a DM if youre interested in working with me 1:1 to help heal your PMS naturally and start your empowered and cycle-aware life See more

11.01.2022 Remember: all suffering is temporary. In any healing journey, there is challenging change, growth and obstacles that you will face. It's less often a 'maybe', and more often a given that you'll experience this. Know that it is just a part of the process. No matter how big or small the changes you're trying to make; or how embedded the habit that you're trying to break.... On the other side of this suffering challenge, change, obstacles there is a whole new kind of light. Trust the process. There is growth in the discomfort. And you don't have to do it alone! 10.01.2022 [ herbal spotlight: // + ] - [immuno = relating to your immune system; modulate = to bring back to balance + equilibrium]... Echinacea is one of my FAVES for immunity. Heres why: Immune system under-active? (frequent / long lasting colds, always feeling run down) Echinacea will do. Immune system in hyper-drive? (allergies, autoimmunity, rashes, histamine intolerance) Echinacea will do, too! Its also little less know for its lymphatic action (supports lymphatic drainage and flow within your body), adaptogenic effect (helps ya cope with stress) and also has a nice, underrated anti-inflammatory kick This herb was actually a key in healing my #periodpain & suspected #endometriosis (with inflammation and autoimmunity as my treatment targets), and its still one I reach for frequently today. DONT SELF PRESCRIBE Herbs are lovely, in that theyre from nature and gently nudge your body towards healing. But they can still: 1) Have side effects + cause allergic reactions 2) Interact with your medications + other supplements 3) Be unsuitable for your condition + constitution And they have these effects, because uh... *cough* they actually work and have physical actions within your body! *cough* #justsayin Always consult your herb-informed healthcare practitioner herbalist, naturopath (and some integrative GPs or functional doctors) #echinacea #immuneboosters #naturalimmuneboosters #immunity #health #wellbeing #healing #holistichealth #holisticherbalism #herbnerd #immunefunction #naturalremedy #naturalstresssolutions #endometriosiswarrior #endoawareness #endometriosisaustralia #autoimmunity #inflammation #wholehealth #herb #herbalism #herbalmedicine #naturalhealth #naturalmedicine #naturecures #nature #flower See more

08.01.2022 In light of September being PCOS Awareness Month, I wanted to create a little casual sit-and-share video. . I share my own journey with #PCOS, from first noticing changes, going through standard tests and opinions, to navigating my way through wholistic management + healing. . SPOILER ALERT: I say "hairy nipples" at least once. So theres that! ... . PCOS is something that I still have a relationship with today whats important is (1) how I perceive that relationship and (2) applying wholistic tools to positively manage my experience with PCOS, in a way that serves me. And this is what I strive to gift to my clients experiencing PCOS, too. . My experience was one where I felt invalidated no other factors of my life, experience or even other test results were taken into account when a doctor decided to label me (based on hypocritical test results) . Having knowledge in wholistic health & naturopathy, I felt empowered enough and had the resources to take things into my own hands, view the test results through a broader, all-encompassing lens, and navigate my own healing journey. . But it makes me wonder: how many womxn go through a similar, confusing & invalidating experience with conventional medicine? How many womxn are left with no answers or follow-up guidance, when their symptoms are very real, and healing *is* possible for them? . Alright - enough ranty-ranty from me, Ill let the video speak for itself! . If you can relate to my story, let me know! I love connecting through shared experience. And, if youre ready: For your first steps towards healing To experience health wholistically, and To have 1:1 support on your journey from someone whos experienced a similar story... Message me, or book in for a Wholistic Connection Call (via my bio). Im here & ready to guide you on your natural healing journey . (Please note: my use of the word women, woman or female refers to humans who menstruate I completely acknowledge that many humans experiencing PCOS may not identify as women/female. You are valid.) 07.01.2022 [ balancing all the things ] Someone recently told me that finding the balance is rubbish, there is no balance, everything is shit and you just have to push through life Behold, a pessimist! ... But srsly, I do beg to differ. As a Libran and self-proclaimed Queen of All Things Balanced & Harmonised, I absolutely believe you can, and should, aim for a sense of balance in your life Absolutely, some days/weeks/months/years can be spent living out of balance, with certain circumstances weighing you down or pulling you in one direction constantly But on the path to wellbeing & emotional stability, you do have the choice to seek out or invite more balance / harmony into your daily life I started making this a priority when I decided to digitise my calendar (big fan of organising over here ). Instead of just categorising my events/tasks as Work, Study, Social etc, I decided to split them into Draining the Batteries and Recharging the Batteries And ya know I just *HAD TO* colour coordinate So, when planning my schedule, I check to see if overall, theres more of my recharging colour ( purple, duh ) than my draining colour (red ) If there isnt, I actively re-shuffle my events in a way that Im more recharged before big draining activities, or, add in more restorative events to balance it out (and also, learn to say no to shit that doesnt serve you!) The amount of purple vs red you need in order to feel balanced & in harmony will vary from person to person. And if you havent dabbled in this before, itll take some time to work out your unique needs So, if youre feeling out-of-sorts & not-quite-right, ask yourself: where can you bring about more balance? Is your cup being drained more than its being replenished? Who knows, a lil routine tweaking (and a healthy amount of colour coordination) could make a huge difference in your emotional health & life balance #emotions #emotionalhealth #harmony #balance #findingthebalance #grounded #peace #relaxing #restorative #schedule #routine #calendar #justlibranthings #holistichealth #wellbeing #health #naturopathy #nature
05.01.2022 Just wanted to share some of my thoughts on my approach to healing from & managing endometriosis. As a Wholistic Hormone Naturopath, I always strive to look into the root causes of the issue rather than just treat the symptoms and hope for the best (even if the root cause isnt hormone related!) This vid just covers one aspect that I find is a major player in my endometriosis clients: immune system dysfunction & modulating inflammation... When we address YOUR root cause, as well as provide some symptomatic relief, painless periods are possible! 04.01.2022 My cheesy face when I get my period... . ...And its pain-free! . Without the use of any meds or pharmaceuticals or devices ... . All naturale, from the inside out . Period pain used to rule my cycle. It was pretty severe on the first couple of days. And its like, thats only 2 days out of about a month, its not that bad, right? . But if you experience it yourself, you KNOW how debilitating it can be. . I remember once I had to finish a work shift early because the pain was unbearable. I walked out of the shop onto a busy street in Melbournes CBD, and just burst into tears! I felt so bad that the pain was stopping me from working! (And also that pain was mf intense) . So you can imagine how crazy-happy and empowered I feel when I can have a period with no aches, pains, or cramps. Life-changing. . Ive just posted my first mini training on my stories, sharing with you the 4 things I did to reduce inflammation & prevent period pain for this cycle . You can check it out in my stories, and Ive saved it to my Period Pain highlights on my profile! . 02.01.2022 [ maintaining my sense of sanity lately ] Okay. So, A LOT has changed recently. Lockdown again in VIC. Changes to my work. Moved house (for the 2nd time this year). New suburb, new community, new vibes. But, one thing has remained the same...... daily connection to nature Earlier this year, it looked like: walking around on a big farm property in regional VIC, inspecting the wild growing herbs, talking to the cows, setting up picnics in the front yard, staring at the sky, walking along kilometres of trees and playing fetch with Laika every morning at 8am Now, its looking a bit like: walking down the driveway of my green-filled unit complex every day, gazing off at my new suburban tree-dense view (ft. some daydreaming), exploring new bike and walking trails around my home, taking Laika on a new walk every day, sitting on my balcony enjoying a chai, brainstorming what plants I can grow in my new backyard Whats stayed the same is that Im still actively seeking, paying attention to and connecting with nature daily; as much as I can find, as often as I can. Suburbia or out in the country - doesnt matter. I use this nature-connection as a grounding tool, and being surrounded by greenery and plants seems to just help my mental health and emotional wellbeing! Also, trees have always reminded me to stay grounded, true to my roots, but flexible enough to sway with the breeze, and loose a branch or two along the way (gotta shed to grow, ya feel?) And this sorta reminder is preeeetty useful at a time like now, where we may be feeling pressured, challenged, VERY ungrounded and forced to grow (and these factors may not be conducive to optimal health and wellbeing!) So, how do you connect with nature daily? And what benefits do you experience from doing so? #nature #naturecures #naturalmedicine #livingwithnature #connecttonaturedaily #natureinspiration #trees #greenery #plants #gardening #zen #balance #harmony #naturalhealth #naturalliving #plantbasedliving #naturalstresssolutions #copingwithcovid #environment #ecofriendly #staygrounded #indoorplants #challenge #growth #mentalhealth #emotionalhealth #change #positivity See more

01.01.2022 I wanna see more faces like this [swipe to see wtf Im on about ] "Alright, Karinda. Whatre you on about this time?" We might not talk about it, but most of us are bloated, or gassy, or just experiencing some kind of abdominal discomfort weekly (if not daily)... Sall good; it happens to the best of us, and gut stuff is a naturopaths fave thing to talk about! #NoPooTabooHere So, what can you do about the bloats? BITTERS BEFORE MEALS! Bitters are the easiest & most cost-effective way to increase your #digestivefire & reduce #bloating [ aaand, why? ] When were stressed, nervous or depleted (hello, 2020!), our sympathetic nervous system is activated. This switches our body into to fight-flight-freeze mode, which does NOT prioritise digestion at all When we drink bitters, they interact with receptors on our tongue and throughout our digestive tract. This sends signals to our brain that some food is coming and its time for digestin The result is more secretion of some important juices for digestion: saliva (mouth - where digestion starts) hydrochloric acid (stomach) bile (liver + gallbladder) enzymes (pancreas) Having more of these juices working their magic means theres: more food breakdown less undigested food to be fermented by gut bugs (remember, fermentation creates gas, and gas leads to bloating!) more nutrient absorption, so your body can do its beautiful job If your digestion just needs a lil support and youre generally healthy, some lemon juice or ACV before big meals could be enough to alleviate all your bloating But, if your gut is deep in StruggleTown, you may need added support to feel better (and also get to the root of your issue). Supplemental enzymes, nutrients or digestive stimulants may be needed (message me or comment if you need some support with this!) Keep swiping to check my recommended bitters + how to use them Tag your fellow bloated buddy below to spread the info! And save this post to keep building your #holistic toolkit for a #happygut Now go get to squeezin those lemons @ Glen Iris, Victoria See more
