24.01.2022 Today we read the book I’m Australian too. It’s a lovely story about the many cultures and peoples that reside here for many different reasons and make Australia the wonderful place it is! During the book the Children started asking questions about where the place is that their families lived in the story? A huge concept for any child to understand, we turned to technology, lucky google earth was there to help. We used this as an aid to help us visualise the distance. The ...people in the book came from all over the world, all walks of life and live here for many different reasons. Stories like this help children to understand other counties traditions and cultures and gain respect for people’s who’s stories differ to their own. If you would like to borrow any of our books please feel free as this one will be added to the parent library.

22.01.2022 Unlike today the weather wasn’t so warm and sunny! As winter is now in full force and the morning are super chilly we stayed inside and snuggled in the warm, creating this WINTER themed bottle engaging with the outside world. We added some cotton wool for the clouds, tissue paper for the rain snow and add to the chollas well as some paint and water to give a cold blue tinge. ... The children took turns using their Grose And fine motor skills to pinch the items using their hand eye coordination to manipulate the contents into the bottle. Baby oil was added as our final ingredient, this slows the contents down and gives another dimension to the bottle as the water & oil do not combine.
22.01.2022 The natural world around us. I’ve always been a bit of nature gal, inquisitive and curious happy to get dirty, touch and feel things with care, It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to guide these young people into consideration and appreciation of the natural world around them. ... The children have been so curious about these cicadas that have been appearing in our yard and at their homes. We spoke about the life cycle of a cicada and did some research on YouTube and online about them. We assisted the cicadas to safety so we could observe and release them when they were happy to fly away. We even got a little hold in the process.

19.01.2022 Has your little one had honey? Truthfully I didn’t know there was a recommended age for children trying honey untill I had my own. It is recommended to wait untill your little ones is at least ONE year of age to introduce honey as there is a risk of infant botulism. While it seems such a natural and wholesome food their developing digestive systems aren’t ready for the bacteria just yet. ... As our children have shown an interest in all things bee We were lucky enough to get some pure honey and honeycomb to sample. All of the children attending today are over a year old, and loved the sweet sticky golden goodness. What a delight!!

12.01.2022 What a BEE-Utiful morning As an extension of last weeks bee interest we were lucky enough to receive a lovely package of bee items from Jodi at SunValley Honey. she has a few hives at her property and is a beekeeper. She was kind enough to lend some empty beeswax and some frames for the hive for touch feel and smell! Some honey and full honeycomb to sample and a wonderful book of bees. ... Nature play an promote conversation about their surrounding world and promote sustainable living. We explored these items this morning and it provoked further research to answer the children’s questions like how do they get the honey out and why does the pollen stick to the bees For this we turned to YouTube to assist in the facts. We watched bees working in hives and collecting nectar and pollen. Beekeepers removing the frames and spinning the honey out. See more
