Eurekas are the most popular, they repeat crop for long term fruiting and suit most areas except for places with heavy frosts Myers are great for cold areas like the Adelaide hills and are frost tolerant and produce smaller, sweeter lemons All citrus trees require good drainage (this can be improved by using gypsum), moderate watering and regular citrus fertiliser for best results

17.01.2022 Watermelon peperomias are back at Karkoo CARE: Best in a well lit spot indoors away from direct sunlight as their leaves can burn, it is always better to underwater rather than overwater so only water them enough to make the soil slightly damp - misting is also good as it helps create humidity which they will love!

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Hi everyone, we hope you didn’t get the wrong idea from the latest article in the Advertiser. We have NOT received an eviction notice, but our lease at Blackwood does run out at the end of the year. ... Mitcham Council has stated that our Blackwood site will need to be sold to help fund the new library and that they want the site developed. We were informed that even if we match a developer’s tender we would still not likely secure the property as this is not what they envision for the area. We are still hoping to stay in Blackwood for as long as we can until these plans are implemented. Everyone we have spoken to on council has told us that if we want to secure Karkoo’s future then we will have to find a new site. Hopefully this will be at the historic Johnston Brewery site in Oakbank and we promise it will be well worth the extra travel time. Fingers crossed we will be able to continue at Blackwood for as long as possible but this is entirely in Mitcham Councils hands. However, we are incredibly excited about the prospect of opening at The Johnston Brewery as it is the perfect setting and a totally unique and iconic site of amazing beauty and heritage. Please be reassured that if Blackwood does close then it is only 20 minutes from the toll gate (30 minutes from Blackwood) to Oakbank. Hopefully this will reassure everyone, and although our future in Blackwood is very uncertain we are excited about new opportunities regarding the wonderful Johnston Brewery site in Oakbank. 16.01.2022 Repotting indoor plants - tips Now is a great time to repot your indoor plants before summer when they will often get a growth spurt due to the warmer weather, we recommend repotting when they are filling out their pots or if you can see roots starting to come out of the bottom (every 8-12 months is a good rule unless they are a slow grower) - when repotting indoor plants do not jump to a much larger pot, it’s always better to just go to the next size up to help them keep a strong and healthy root system

14.01.2022 WATERMELON PEPEROMIA CARE Best in a well lit spot away from direct sunlight as their leaves can burn Water when the top layer of soil feels dry and keep an eye on the leaves, if they start to droop it may be time for a water Be careful not to overwater as regularly soggy soil can cause root rot (if you think yours may have root rot gently pull it out of the pot and check the roots, if they are soft and mushy it has root rot) ... They love humidity and will do great in a well lit bathroom Foliage is easy to damage in transport etc. but marked leaves can be easily snapped off They are also super easy to propagate and make stunning, interesting plants! 11.01.2022 Sundays with Sam Toughest Indoor Plants Based on your requests from our last episode of Sundays with Sam this week is all about our toughest indoor plants, the sansevieria (snake plants), Zanzibar Gem and rubber plants (ficus elasticas) each of these super hardy indoor plants require minimal care and water and can handle less light than most making them great for those difficult dark corners! Please comment to let us know what gardening topics you want Sam to discuss next!

10.01.2022 Fungus Gnats on Indoor Plants Weve had a lot of people ask us about getting rid of fungus gnats lately so here are our top tips! Fungus gnats are little black flying insects that you may see buzzing around your indoor plants which can damage your plants root system. They love moist soil so be careful not to overwater your indoor plants (it is always best to underwater rather than overwater if you are not sure). Hang sticky traps near your indoor plants to catch any adult f...ungus gnats flying around before they get the chance to lay eggs in the soil. Have a bad case of fungus gnats? Dunk your plant in a half strength solution of Searles Garden Products conguard until the soil is fully soaked, then remove, drain and repeat every 3-4 weeks as necessary. Searles conguard also comes in a convenient spray bottle so before the situation can escalate spray your plants!

02.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS! After months of planning we have finally secured Karkoo’s future at the Historic Johnston Brewery site in Oakbank. We are super excited as this site will allow us to achieve our goals and take Karkoo to the next level. We are now going to work flat out to hopefully open by Mother’s Day, stay tuned for regular updates and progress shots. As for our Blackwood store, we will try our hardest to secure a further lease (our current lease expires at the end of the y...ear) however, this is entirely up to the Mitcham Council. We are truly grateful for the huge support we have received and are thrilled to have the opportunity to develop this amazing, gorgeous and historic destination!
