25.01.2022 Just love harvest time of the year, freshly cut paddocks early summer storms and lots of colour. If you have some personal shots you want printed and framed call in and see us at KMP, Photography Gallery, Picture framing and Photo printing services at 76 Chapman road. 25.01.2022 Cleaning up the shores of the Abrolhos islands is no easy task, hot, dry, thirsty work to say the least, but worth all the effort in the end removing plastic and debris from pristine waters, making a difference to our environment. This large blue container found embedded under the reef was quite a challenge.

25.01.2022 Beautiful spring morning this morning, blue sky, warmth in the sun, just what the crops in the Wheatbelt need as we head into harvest time. After a 3000KM round trip through the wheatbelt last week I was almost home when I saw this little rocky outcrop near Mingenew, the looming storm clouds made for a wonderful backdrop against the golden wheat crop. The wide open landscapes of broad acre crops make wonderfull landscapes especially with the full golden maturity just before harvest. If you want to see more of the magnificent Mid West head over to our new web site and check out the mid west gallery with images from across the region and the seasons. www.karlmonaghanphotography.com#coralcoast#wheatbelt#midwest

25.01.2022 Beautiful weekend to get out and about looking for wildflowers, not too much wind, recent rain, now some sunshine to make everything grow. What more could you want, a little wander out yonder in our own back yard.

25.01.2022 With all that dust in the air the town beach took on a subdued look this morning, blasted by wind and sand made lovely hews, or at least different to how we normally see it.

25.01.2022 Looking for a last minute gift idea? Why not one of our local calendars for 2021 ! Call in to our gallery 76 Chapman Road or you can also grab yourself one at the Sealounge (next to the Freemasons) or at Wandina Newsagency. Stocks are limited!

25.01.2022 What a classic Australian homestead and farm scene, canola in the mid west, East Chapman Valley. Looks awesome as a framed print or large canvas. Perfect for home or office.

24.01.2022 Geraldton foreshore is a great place to watch the ships come in and out of port, and capture the splendid colours of the Indian Ocean.

24.01.2022 Was a big weekend this weekend with the Flotsam and Jetsam winners announcements on Saturday, has been a long journey this year but the entries where just fantastic, The exhibition will be open to the public today down at Latitude Gallery and Jewellers, so if you have time make a point of dropping in and having a look, or go on line to https://latitudegallery.com.au, and check out the virtual exhibition. Here is a little shot of the Colours of the islands I took while collecting Flotsam and Jetsam this year, a good way to start the week, thinking about our wide open spaces, beautiful waters and probably the safest state in the world right now.

23.01.2022 Loving the pink hues of the Pink Lake in Port Gregory, recent shoot with Geraldton Air Charter, Geraldtons own Pink Lake air tour company, @Geraldton Air Charter, @pinklake, Pink Lake Karl Monaghan Photography @Abstract.

23.01.2022 Just love wide open spaces, and there is nothing quite like a deserted island with no inhabitants apart from native wildlife and migrating birds. Just like Pelsart Island at the Houtman Abrolhos National Park. Beautiful crystal clear waters, the colours of which dreams are made of, but deadly to seafarers that no not the reefs.

23.01.2022 When your heading off to the Abrolhos Islands looking back to the mainland, the sun rises for another day, Adventure awaits.

23.01.2022 How cool is the 2 meter canvas print of Wally,s Jetty on Big Rat Island on the Abrolhos during a storm. 23.01.2022 Hut lagoon, or the Pink Lake as it is known is a constantly changing environment , every shoot will be different depending on many factors, time of year, rainfall, temperature, cloud cover and the movement of sediments etc , just love the reds and pinks that create an amazing palette , like an abstract resin pour , you never know what your going to get till you are in the air.

23.01.2022 Don,t you just love old stuff, like these old bowsers on a farm in the wheatbelt. Classic old filling station where fuel was measured in Gallons, like time has stood still, and right now don't we just wish life was a little less complicated. Looking forward to printing and framing this one, Will be available in store this week, so pop in and say G,day at the Gallery, and check out our timeless imagery, 76 Chapman Road Geraldton.

23.01.2022 So winter is definitely here now after the past few days of wind and rain, and it puts me in a B&W frame of mind , I enjoy the way water surfaces move with gusts of wind and captured this shot of the Batavia Life Boat replica down at the marina. Black and white seems to suit the composition.

22.01.2022 Beautiful Sunday afternoon on Tarcoola Beach, blue sky , blue water and rolling waves, place where contemplation can be at its best. Another piece if Mid West paradise.

18.01.2022 One of my favourite photos of canola, endless yellow against formidable grey skies with the sun popping through to light up the canola. East Chapman valley, prints look amazing on canvas or framed behind glass, the bigger the better to brighten up a whole room. Exclusive to km photography gallery, printing and framing.

17.01.2022 Chilling out today editing some images from this weeks shooting high above the Abrolhos Islands with Geraldton Air Charter. We had awesome weather and the water was just spectacular. Am loving the detail in this image of Big Pigeon Island in the Wallaby Group of Islands.

17.01.2022 Basile Island in the Southern Group of the Abrolhos islands, as a local boat navigates through the channel to dock at the jetties. Basile is a wonderfull Island full of rich culture and history, Home to the Flotsam and Jetsam Programe, and Latitude Pearls. Looking forward to seeing all the creations the local artists make from this years Flotsam and Jetsam clean up weekend, which I had the pleasure of taking part in for another year.

17.01.2022 Just finished printing this nice little shot across the lagoon on Post office island in the Abrolhos Archipelago , of to the framing room and then freighted to Melbourne to its new home.

16.01.2022 spider Orchid, love hunting these down this time of year, #wildflowers #canonphotography #midwestliving #lovegeraldton #art #photoart #flowers

16.01.2022 Cruising round the coral in the Houtman Abrolhos.Either land sea or air the Abrolhos Islands are a wonder of the world. Shot from an air van with Geraldton Air Charter. If you have never seen the Abrolhos from above book a tour you won't be disappointed.

15.01.2022 Was nice to get out and about last night for sunset shooting, with local videographers at "Cantcreate" doing some footage for our upcoming adds. Great job guys and even managed to get a shot of this abandoned Range Rover just South of cape Burney. Who knows why it has been abandoned here of all places ruining the landscape. Perhaps someone had got stuck on the beach and could only get it towed as far as the top of the dunes? Hopefully it gets removed sooner rather than later, it was pretty windy last night with the southerly , but still had a bit of fun and this shot didn't, turn out too bad with the clouds and old wreck.

15.01.2022 Little Video of some of my Abrolhos Island Images put together for me by my friends at "Cantcreate" Thanks guys awesome job. For all your large Canvas prints and framed prints of the Abrolhos Islands visit us at our Gallery 76 Chapman Road Geraldton, We custom print and frame to all your needs, for gifts that last a lifetime, or for your corporate office no job too big or small. 15.01.2022 From the air the reef systems of the Abrolhos are just magnificent , this shot was taken in around the easter group from around 1000 ft, makes for a wonderfull print on Canvas or framed art print on a beautiful rag paper. Call in and see some samples of our wide range of Abrolhos island images at our gallery at 76 Chapman road Geraldton, Photography Gallery, Custom printing, and Custom Framing services. 99213001

13.01.2022 One of my favourite Cape Peron Images, Way up at the point looking South, the red volcanic rock and red desert sand meet the blues of the Indian ocean amid a stormy sky. Available exclusively at KM Photography Gallery and Studio Chapman Road Geraldton. Available in a variety of sizes from 30 x 30 cm to 100x 100cm all printed on fine art plating fibre rag paper. Stunning wall art prints that last a lifetime.

13.01.2022 I simply couldn't,t resist this shot of the Shearers Cafe in Northampton, every good shearers dog gets his 10%. Just like this well mannered canine, sitting patiently for his ten percent. Northampton is such a cool little place to spend some time with lovely little art shops, street art not to mention the local haberdashery and sowing machine museum and so much more.

13.01.2022 Delicate colours of the pink Geraldton Wax in full bloom now in the mid west.

13.01.2022 The natural wonders of Pelsart Island in the Houtman Abrolhos , the longest single island in the archipelago , shot on a glorious sunny day on tour with Geraldton Air Charter, one of the many islands you can view on one of their tours. If you haven't seen the Abrolhos from the air then it definitely one for the bucket list, tours available through Geraldton Air Charter.

12.01.2022 Well there is another weekend been and gone, but managed to get out and take a few shots on Saturday evening with some lovely like minded photogs from the Belmont Photography Club visiting the area this weekend. Little shot of St Peters Catholic Church at Greenough Historic settlement just after dark, one of my favourite little churches in the region, so well kept, and a little bit of pioneering history. Well worth a visit if you haven't been before.

12.01.2022 Man made groins at Hut Lagoon seperate settling ponds and create spectacular visuals from the air. The Pink hues of carotene and sun baked salt create the textures of the landscape like a broken spine surrounded by soft tissue. The Pink lake Port Gregory. Thank you to Geraldton Air Charter.

12.01.2022 Sunrise and jetty, on Basile Island, taken earlier this year before all the Covid madness, and lockdowns, a time when every day was a care free adventure, a time when the world was sort of normal, a time when there was no overload of fear and cautiousness, a time when travel was easy and anywhere in the world was less than 24 hours away. Time stands still on the Abrolhos Islands, the sun will rise and set, the waters will be blue and clean, oh how lucky we have been.

11.01.2022 Last Minute Christmas Gifts available now!

11.01.2022 Well we are pleased to say we are back up and running in Geraldton and the gallery is now open for business as usual, we where very fortunate to only have some minor damage from the Cyclone ,due to water flood and power surge even though all appliances where turned off and down booted. Must have been some surge. On reflection just like the still waters of the pink lake, we where all very lucky in Geraldton and our thoughts are with all those north of us in Northampton and Kalbarri and east through the wheatbelt that bore the brunt of the cyclone, we wish everyone the best as they re build and move forwards. from here.

09.01.2022 Canola in Spring in East Chapman Valley, a time of year when the landscape comes alive with colour. Love getting out and about in our own backyard. #geraldton#midwest#wanderoutyonder#landscape#roamfree

08.01.2022 Well what a week we have just had in the mid west with Cyclone Seroja on Sunday night that has reaped havoc across the region, power loss and communications down left those unaffected by damage with candle light, scrabble, and clamping at home, making use of all those torches and batteries, camping stoves, and listening to the wireless. A side affect of total power loss was the clear unpolluted skies at night and although I didn't,t head out around our roads I did enjoy the milky way from my verandah over a glass of scotch, and took a few snaps as a keepsake from the event. The candle light in the lounge room was enough to illuminate the building structure and cast a lovely orange glow on the gable roof. The milky way didn't, come out too bad either, just love the serenity of our night skies, after the storm has gone.

07.01.2022 The Australian Sea Lion (Neophoca Cinerea) who's habitat spans from South Australia to the Abrolhos Islands of the coast of Geraldton in Western Australia. Although a protected species they are quite common on the islands and can be very inquisitive. This female frolicked and played in close proximity as if posing for the camera, stopping for a yawn, it must be very tiring entertaining humans. Flotsam and Jetsam

07.01.2022 The old pawning jetty in Carnarvon, many happy hours spent fishing of this jetty. Taught my kid to fish there, sad it is now left to the oceans decisions . Man has no further use for it. Such is the passage of time and nothing stays the same.

07.01.2022 The calm before the storm, short time lapse of this evenings clouds out at Cape Burney.

07.01.2022 Take a walk on the wild side, with this long panoramic of Wally,s jetty on Big Rat island, walk the jetty straight towards the storm, feel the wind on your face, and the isolation of a remote island. Available exclusively at KM Photography Gallery and studios 76 Chapman Road. Available up to 2 meters long x 800 wide on Canvas, Metal print, or face mount perspex. Framed rag prints available at a variety of sizes to fit that long narrow wall that just needs that something special. Call in and see us at the gallery get your order in for xmas this year while stocks last.

06.01.2022 Have always liked this photo from our first Flotsam and Jetsam Clean up Australia Day tour and collection back in 2012. Hardly seems like 8 years since that first exciting adventure with Pia Boschetti and Latitude Gallery. The image of all the breeding birds in flight was a sight to behold in this beautiful natural wonder of the world.

06.01.2022 Local public art is always an addition to the world we live in and what we see each day with perhaps new Horizons, The Beresford Ball known as Horizon by Lucy Humphrey is one of those installations that attracts lots of attention from magnificent sunsets and rises to awesome weather fronts passing by. Another must photography location on the Geraldton Foreshore. So this is one of my takes on the installation, prints up lovely and will make wonderful local postcards, and even large prints for the wall.

06.01.2022 Bit of a blast from the past, came across this photo from back in the day in Woodend Victoria, little 550 four Honda for commuting down the Calder Freeway to Footscray to work. My two little darlings Rory and Carly having a spin round the yard. Seems like yesterday.

05.01.2022 Another beautiful day in WA. You don't need to wander too far yonder when you have beaches and sunsets at the bottom of your road. Cape Burney beach this evening with a lovely sunset to finish off the weekend.

05.01.2022 The Flotsam and Jetsam Art prize winners will be announced today via live stream at 2.30pm Western Time, what a wonderful journey this show has been this year. Tune in to Latitude gallery tomorrow for the winners live stream on FB. Good luck to everyone who entered, you are all winners. While we where on Basile Island as base camp during this years clean up Australia Day , collecting as much rubbish as we could for Flotsam and jetsam 2020 I managed to get a few shots at dusk of the jetties on the island. For me a wonderful memory of a great time with wonderful people. Hope you like it.

05.01.2022 Its a perfect time of year to head to the Pink Lake at Port Gregory, if your visiting the Mid West is a must see on a beautiful sunny day. Take the kids the dog and the drone, just time to relax and enjoy the big wide outdoors in WA. This shot was done with a MP2 and ND filter, F4.

04.01.2022 Just a glimpse of rainbow on Tarcoola beach on these wet winter mornings, cant think of anywhere I would rather be. Other than at my gallery making beautiful wall prints . Memories that last a lifetime.

04.01.2022 As we head towards the opening of the Flotsam and Jetsam awards and exhibition next weekend, I thought it would be nice to share a few snaps from the clean up Australia day weekend 2020 on Basile Island and neighbouring islands. This year has been like no other for most of us and our lives have been touched in ways we never thought, one place that has stood still in time is the Abrolhos Islands and the unique culture that surrounds them. Around 50kms off shore from the coast of Geraldton is Basile Island in the Southern group of islands and someone kindly put some signage up so no one could get lost, very helpful indeed if you should be stranded with no sense of time or place. Although I must say being on a island in the middle of the Indian ocean with no contact with the outside world is indeed appealing in these strange times.

03.01.2022 Its always nice to photograph Geraldtons Iconic buildings, especially when a rainbow appears just for good measure, made for a brief unscheduled stop on my regular route home this evening, at the Cathedral. A postcard from Geraldton.

02.01.2022 It is with the greatest Humility I thank all the local people and businesses that have supported KM Photography Gallery , Printing and Picture Framing this past year. It has indeed been the most trying of years for many off us with uncertainty and separation, either the tyranny of distance and border closures around Australia or in my case family in the Uk and Ireland, and our journeys are not yet over. Thank you every single customer that has shopped local supporting local ...and helped keep business in the Mid West alive and flourishing . We will be closing today around 3pm for a well earned break and some down time. We will re open on the 4th of January 2021 and look forward to serving our loyal customers in the coming year. We still have some Great Wall prints in stock for that last minute xmas purchase both at the Sealounge and at my main gallery on Chapman road. If we don't see you today have a wonderful xmas and a safe and prosperous New year. All the best, Karl and Carly See more

02.01.2022 Long Island in the Wallaby group of the Houtman Abrolhos Islands. This shot is a little older one from my 13 years of shooting the Abrolhos, still love it, and makes a nice print, with awesome colour that defines the Abrolhos Islands and the Indian Ocean. If you want to see more from our huge collection of Abrolhos Island Images, call in and see us at the gallery 76 Chapman Road

02.01.2022 Big Rat Island in the Easter group of the Abrolhos Islands.

02.01.2022 Good not to bee cleaning up dirt from last weeks sand storm today, but like this image taken near the fuel silos in the west end last week during the storm. A little apocalyptic looking, but probably never see a sky like this again, so a keeper for me.

02.01.2022 After dark on the pink lake Port Gregory, the lights from the Carateen processing Plant shine across the lake.

01.01.2022 Busy in the print room today with some nice canvas prints coming out for framing, like this awesome 2 meter x 1 meter print of Wallys Jetty, on Big Rat Island. For all your large format printing call in and see us, the one stop print and frame shop.

01.01.2022 So looking forward to this afternoons live feed from Latitude Gallery and jewellers, where we will be announcing the winners go the 2020 Flotsam and Jetsam Art awards. Join us at 2.30pm in the virtual opening live from Geraldton WA, the only place to stay. Follow this link, https://latitudepearls.us7.list-manage.com/track/click

01.01.2022 My Kids and my Grand kids just love Skirfing, it goes with living close to the shores of the Indian Ocean and enjoying the Ocean life style. But this is taking skirfing to a whole different level, being towed through a remote Chanel in the Houtman Abrolhos, standing on a surf board ,some serious fun there, and what a playground, shot recently at around 2000ft with Geraldton Air Charter, for the perfect views of the Abrolhos Islands.
