23.01.2022 There is always so much going on behind the scenes of KPR and although I try to keep you all informed, sometimes I need to make sense of it all first. 20.01.2022 Rescue is not all about dogs and cats. Although this is primarily where our focus lies, we also pretty much rescue whoever needs us. Last weekend, this baby galah decided that he wanted to become a KPR kid. Sadly, he was in shock and had a badly broken wing and we knew his chances were not good. Birds die from shock very easily and the first 24 hours with this baby were touch and go. We were encouraged that he survived the initial shock but sadly, our trip to the vet on Monda...y morning was not what we had hoped for. Unfortunately, the wing was broken near the shoulder joint and despite several attempts by the vet to strap and splint it, it was unsuccessful. Normally, birds with this sort of injury are usually euthanised but having fought so hard (and with me being more than a little attached), I asked the vet about amputating his broken wing. Birds don’t handle anaesthetic well and have a high mortality rate during surgery but giving up when we had come so far just seemed unfair. The galah was immediately hospitalised and given several days of pain relief, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics as well as lots of food, in an attempt to give it the best chance of survival. Yesterday was surgery day. To say I held my breath, waiting for news, is an understatement. I rang, several times, to check if my baby was still breathing. Against all odd, our little fighter made it through and, this morning, we were reunited. Now, apart from recovery, we have another issue and that is where I am looking for some guidance. You see, it is impossible to tell the gender of a galah until it reaches maturity. Both males and females are identical but when they become adults, the girls have red eyes, and the boys have dark eyes. Due to this, we are looking for a unisex name for our baby. He/she has a feisty personality, is full of sass and a lot of attitude. Please let me know your name suggestions Sam See more

09.01.2022 Please meet brand new KPR kids, Ragdoll x babies, Astrid and Simba. These guys are nearly 7 weeks old and will be ready to go to their new homes from next weekend. As you can see, these kids are absolutely adorable. As always, we welcome early applications. 05.01.2022 WHO"S THE GOODEST BOI??? G'day, I'm Duff and I am 11 years old. Don't worry, there is plenty of life left in this ol' fella and I am putting the feelers out to start the search for my perfect retirement home. I am such a loving, affectionate and loyal guy, I love treats and going for walks and just hanging out with my humans at home. I am a good boy in the car and I love pats. In fact, if you stop patting me, I will nudge your hand until you start again. My only downside (if ...you can call it that) is that I need my retirement home to be a kitty free zone. I do not want to share my home with any feline friends. I get along brilliantly with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and I would love to be your new best mate. 03.01.2022 Are you one of those humans who talks with their hands? You could be just the human for me! Hi, I'm Beethoven and at just 10 weeks old, I already weigh in at an impressive 16kg! I am the happiest boy in the world and my tail wags so much that my bottom wobbles from side to side when I walk. I am a super gentle puppy and I absolutely love everyone. I am an extra special guy because I am deaf but don't worry, I am super smart and will pick up hand signals very, very quickly! I love other dogs and will learn a lot from a doggie sibling if you have one for me. I am going to be a big doggie but, with your guidance, I will grow up to be a gentle giant. Are you my humans?
