25.01.2022 Slate , the last of the Raw Collection colours to introduce and the hardest to describe. . Stone, grey, brown, hint of khaki. They are all the colours in this leather. Wear her against white she looks completely different when worn against browns or navy. I think slate is the best descriptor of this intriguing colour. 21.01.2022 When I renamed the business from therapy to KARMME, I had to play with spelling, as every combination of calm which is what I wanted to call the business, was registered to other businesses. Even my name Imby was registered!! So thats how it got the spelling it got, KARMME. But I often heard it pronounced karmie, or karmay. So when I started working with @vahststudio on a new logo I wanted to incorporate calm with KARMME so everyone knew how I intended it to be prono...unced :) Calm was how creating made me feel. The organic shaped circle is the way I approach design, loose, not sure where it will go but will eventually surface. The straight line is my very organised and attention to detailed personality. It took a while to get used to the new logo, it didnt feel like mine. Just like KARMME didnt feel like mine after therapy. Real women with average, not so average, normal, not normal, whatever that means, lives. 02.01.2022 I thought Id share 10 random things about me, my life and journey to having KARMME. 1. My name is Imby, its a name I always get asked about so the story goes... mum saw a play in a north west Australian town when she was pregnant with me, the next day there was a write up about the actor in the paper, his daughters name was Imbie, mum liked it, changed the spelling and I got it and nearly 47 years later its often the story I tell when I get introduced to a new person when... they hear my name. Since found out its origins are Estonian. 2. Im originally from Perth in WA but since the age if 20 have lived either overseas or over East for about 18 years. 3. I have three teenage daughters, its hectic but joyous to watch them grow into spirited young women. 4. Ive been with my husband for nearly 25 years. 5. I stopped eating red meat when I was 18. 6. Our wedding dance was to bootylicious and I had a catering business called sangalicious. Destinys Child was playing in Las Vegas when we were backpacking but we had no money to go, still gutted! 7. I was on top of the twin towers in New York at 4pm the day before they fell. 8. I am not formally trained in fashion or design. Ive sewn since I was about 10, I did woodwork at school because I knew how to cook and sew so wanted to learn something new. I studied Japanese and commerce at uni, then decided I wanted to be a Japanese language teacher. I taught English as a second language, special needs and ESL in high schools and in a specialist school for students with Autism when I lived in London for 5 years. When I returned to Perth I realised teaching was the hardest job in the world and started a catering business. 9. I need a lot of time by myself. I am easily overwhelmed by lots of energy around me. 10. Swimming in the ocean is my new favourite thing and one of the bravest things Ive done. . If youre still reading !! 02.01.2022 I wanted to look at the concept of still life for this collection of bags. I like the idea of each piece being seen as art. Designing a bag from scratch is like working on a piece of art I think. An idea flows to a broad outline and then is refined with all the details until the final piece emerges.
