23.01.2022 FUN FACT: If your phone is resting on your lap or any other body part you are still considered to be using a mobile phone while driving. The Road Transport Legislation Amendment (Road Safety) Act 2018 No 15 has provided the power for speed camera style technology to detect illegal mobile phone use from 1 July 2018. Drivers who are caught using a mobile phone while driving will receive a fine of $330 and will lose 4 demerit points.... If drivers are caught using a mobile phone when driving in a school zone, the fine increases to $439. All mobile phone offences are also subject to double demerits penalties. NSW is the first jurisdiction in Australia to introduce this legislation. Once the camera detects that a person has been found to be using a phone whilst driving, the footage will be reviewed manually prior to an infringement notice being issued. Starting off at Liverpool Local Court our clients assault charge was dismissed.... Then heading to Parramatta Local Court we also managed to have our clients assault charge with the associated AVO dismissed after a defended hearing. 14.01.2022 STRICT BAIL GRANTED: Earlier today, Mr Saddik from our office represented a client charged with multiple serious offences including a home invasion with an attack on a person, followed by a vicious attack on an inspector of NSW Police after an alleged escape from lawful custody. The application for bail was strongly opposed. Mr Saddik submitted strong legal grounds for the grant of bail which persuaded the Court to decide in our clients favour. He was granted strict conditional bail, effectively on house arrest, whilst his matter progresses through the criminal justice system. Thankful at the least not to be spending the end-of-year holidays in lawful custody.

FUN FACT: Being caught speeding on the roads this long weekend is the quickest way to lose your license with mobile phone usage from the drivers seat coming in at a very close second place. Drivers who are caught speeding this long weekend will face a penalty up to $2435.00 and 12 demerit points.... Mobile phone use behind the wheel will cost drivers as much as $448.00 and 10 demerit points. Double demerit fines will also apply to seat belt and helmet offences. The focus of the reform is a general shift to subjecting more offenders to supervision and programs to address their offending behaviour. The effects of the reform are as follows:... Abolishment of the following sentence options: o Suspended sentences o Section 9 good behaviour bonds o Section 10 good behaviour bonds o Community Service Order o Home Detention Orders Introduction of the following sentencing options o Community Correction Order (CCO) o Conditional Release Order (CRO) without conviction o Conditional Release Order (CRO) with conviction An overhaul of Intensive correction orders (ICO) with offenders to be subject to curfews, community service, home detention, electronic monitoring and/or supervision by Community Corrections Officers. Today, our team appeared at Burwood Local Court and made an application for bail, successfully showing cause as to why his detention was not justified. 09.01.2022 NEWS: Karnib Saddik Law Firm successfully represented a number of clients across metropolitan Sydney today. Have a read of the following: PARRAMATTA, Mr Saddik assisted with three clients volunteering themselves in to Parramatta Police Station to be charged with Affray following an alleged brawl that occurred at Parramatta Westfields Shopping Centre. Following successful discussions with Detectives from Strike Force Raptor regarding our clients subjective circumstances, two ...of the three men were granted conditional release. The remaining client appeared before the Parramatta Local Court whereby his Show Cause Bail Application was heard and conditional release was granted. BLACKTOWN, Mr Saddik appeared for our client initially charged with the Supply of a Prohibited Drug, namely 240 grams of cocaine. Following successful negotiations with the Crown, our client today pleaded guilty to supplying 70 grams. BANKSTOWN, Mr Karnib appeared for our client charged with a Domestic Violence related offence. A defended hearing proceeded with all Crown witnesses subjected to intense questioning, including evidence from the Defence. By 3pm, a verdict of not guilty was reached.
