24.01.2022 Stolen - Wheely Bins - some thief has visited the Hall in the last few days and decided to steal the 2 recycling bins, not only stolen them from a community facility but also dumped the existing contents on the ground behind the hall, which has really annoyed me as papers have blown all over the grounds and i had to pick all the stuff up. So if you come across anyone that appears to have recently acquired 2 additional large yellow top recycle bins please let me know or call crimestoppers as if we find these culprits who knows what other property they have knicked we might find at their place.

24.01.2022 Piano wanted, hi i am looking for an upright piano for the hall, a donation would be preferable, if you have one laying around that doesn't get used any longer the hall would be a good new home for it. It will need to be in reasonable condition and will have to have one of our piano players check it out to see if it is suitable, sorry but as funds are limited for the hall we cant take anything that needs a lot of work done. Thanks Neil

23.01.2022 Hi Locals and friends of Karoola, please see the shared post from the Pony Club, we appreciate any contribution no matter how small - Thanks Neil

23.01.2022 Hall and Grounds update, from 3pm this afternoon (5th June 2020) the 60x20 Arena and the Topsy Arena can be hired by Pony Club members, bookings through me as usual. (Hall access and toilets are not available). The Playground and Tennis court may also be used by the general public during daylight hours only but not during construction works which will re-commence shortly. The Hall will be available for hire in due course but not just yet.... Remember to follow the government rules on social distancing, hygiene etc, we should all know them very well by now.

23.01.2022 Ragwort - Today we pulled a few Ragwort plants at the recreation ground, this is an annual task that we should all do on our properties to help support our farmers and look after our beautiful valley, more information at https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au//w/declared-weeds-index/ragwort

23.01.2022 Some exciting things have been happening at your local Hall, we may have been in isolation but we have been working hard behind the scenes to improve the facilities. Remember the old wooden fence in front of the Hall ? - gone - a new galvanised pipe fence is under construction, which will make it safer for everyone. Also you probably cant see it from the road but a new ramp has been built beside the sand arena near the road, this ramps purpose is to develop the facility to be... able to cater for people of all abilities to enjoy the love of horse riding in the future, some more work needs to be done to upgrade the arena to the required standard. And you can see the large sandpit on the oval now has been completed, this is an 80m x 60m sand arena, this new arena will now allow all year round usage for horse activities, it also opens up the possibility of other equine disciplines not normally seen at Karoola to hire the grounds. These upgraded and new facilities are a significant investment by the Lilydale District Pony Club and Launceston City Council. Regards Neil

23.01.2022 In these weird times and no revenue coming into the Hall, it was nice to receive some relief for the Hall in an Aurora COVID 19 credit.

23.01.2022 Coronavirus update, Launceston City Council have now directed us to close all facilities immediately, this means in addition to my previous post regarding the closure of the Hall and Playground, the Tennis Court is now closed and the Sand Arena is closed and not available for hire. Signage has been placed at the grounds so please comply with the LCC directive.

22.01.2022 Reminder these items are in front of the old fire shed at Karoola Recreation Ground, they are free and you are welcome to go take them, the wooden box is quite heavy, there is an old wardrobe, an old chest freezer ideal for storing animal feed and a large cotton reel thing, 1st in 1st serve no holds.

22.01.2022 Very disappointing for the Blessington community, their Hall was trashed during a 20th birthday party last weekend, luckily we have avoided such a disaster so far at Karoola, these facilities are managed by community volunteers and they certainly don't deserve this kind of disrespect to a valued historic community resource. If you are planning a celebration then the best advice is to keep it off social media and if it is a teen or youth party consider registering it with the ...Tas Police Party Safe system. https://www.facebook.com/watch/ https://www.police.tas.gov.au/services-online/party-safe/

21.01.2022 Beautiful evening at Karoola and some fun showjumping.

19.01.2022 Hi locals, i am looking for a community member or members that use the grounds to write a short letter or email in support of the hall applying for a community grant to purchase a commercial type ride on mower, you may walk your dogs or take your kids for a swing or you may have hired the hall for a party etc, it is a lot nicer to visit the grounds when they are well kept. It does take quite a lot of effort and working bees to keep the grass under control, this grant application will request approx $9,000 to purchase a Toro 50" cut ride on similar to what the council use. Happy to take emails as support, please send to [email protected] - Thanks Neil

19.01.2022 Hi locals unfortunately the grounds has been the target of another break in between Tues 23rd and Mon 29th, the rear shed rollerdoor was damaged to gain access, this has now been replaced with a new stronger door, please keep an eye out for any of this stolen equipment as its quite unique gear, not something the average kid would play with in the backyard. I wonder if it would weigh on their hearts if they realised they were stealing childrens play equipment which we have all worked hard to fundraise for. Thanks Neil

19.01.2022 Did you know there is a great little playground at Karoola recreation ground, perfect for the little ones. The playground is available for public use (daylight hours only) whenever there is no private event in progress at the grounds, also a tennis court to have a hit or run around in or skate and scooter. Also some picnic tables are close by, there are wheelie bins at the front of the hall for your recyclable things and rubbish. ps. sorry there are no public toilets in the area

18.01.2022 Police forensics at the hall today we had a visit from the creatures of the night last night, if you noticed any activity around the hall early this morning please let me know. I'll post some more later.

17.01.2022 So here we are another day at the hall and another disappointing discovery - the lifesaving defibrillator is gone, provided by the hard working Lilydale lions club. I hadn't checked that lately so I assume it went with the gates a few weeks ago, its purpose as you know was to potentially save a community persons life, to those that stole it shame on you and you may end up with blood on your hands and how are you going to live with that. **************************************...********************************* Update - A local resident has reported that on Sunday afternoon at 2:50pm whilst driving past the grounds a person was observed walking out of the car park and onto Pipers River road and then walking south, this person was wearing a hoody and was believed to be carrying an object, it is thought to be a male person, there was no vehicle seen and either the person walked home or was picked up by a car shortly after. If this was you or someone you know we would be interested to hear from you if you can assist in the theft of the community AED. We also ask that anyone that may have travelled past the Karoola Recreation Ground between 2:30 and 3pm on sunday that may have dash cam footage, could you please review it for any images of that person, also any local residents nearby that have security cameras that may point to pipers river road in that area please also review your footage. Thanks See more

17.01.2022 Hot off the Press, I hear VitalForce fitness sessions are resuming at the Hall soon - watch this space..............

16.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all, thank you for your support of the Karoola Hall over the somewhat challenging last 12 months, we hope you enjoy a lovely time with your families and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.

13.01.2022 Here at the Hall we use this product to do our bit for the environment and the cause they support.

12.01.2022 Karroola Hall improvements continue, last week council replaced all the guttering on the Hall, it looks fantastic. Also recently a Satellite NBN service was installed by council, this is because Karoola Hall is a Nearby Safe Place for community evacuations in case of emergency, so this will allow communications in those situations if ever needed.

12.01.2022 Well we did it, today we picked up our new addition to the Hall, a beautiful Lipstein piano donated by one of our LDPC adult rider members Alana Fazackerley and family, it will bring much enjoyment to the pony club kids and others who hire the hall, thank you Alana.

12.01.2022 Hi all Karoola Hall and Recreation Ground followers, I wish to advise you that there will be earthworks starting at the grounds on Friday 24th Jan and will last for around 8 weeks. These works are to install a new Sand Arena area on the east side of the oval and add additional drainage at the grounds, as you would be aware the grounds do get very wet during winter. These works will continue to improve the facilities and potentially attract other groups of users to hire the gr...ounds for their activities. Hall hire is still permitted on evenings and on weekends when no construction work is being performed. Tennis court should still be available during the day. Playground and oval will be unavailable weekdays whilst work is being done. The works being done are a major investment in the Karoola Recreation ground and will ensure its viability and continued improvement into the future. Regards Neil

11.01.2022 Checkout the fantastic upgraded amenities, disabled access, Parent room, showers, super modern facilities........

09.01.2022 Weddings, Parties, Anything ?, now Spring is here and the weather is warming up, so is interest in hiring the hall, bookings are coming in thick and fast, so don't miss out if you are thinking of hiring these fantastic facilities for a function or get together.

08.01.2022 Did you know ? The Karoola Hall is your nearby safe place in the event of a serious fire threat, you can access the Fire Tasmania Community protection Plan on the TFS website. A copy of each page is attached to this post. The hall has fantastic facilities to be able to support you if there is a need to evacuate like toilets, showers, kitchen and ample room to camp or sleep in the hall, we can also yard some horses if needed. Please make sure you follow the TFS instructions in evacuating if there is a need to do so.

08.01.2022 Hello All as per the current government advice the Hall facilities, including the Playground are closed and not available for use until further notice. The tennis court may be used and the Sand Arena may be hired by individuals for equine lessons but with no access to the Hall, but please make sure you observe the guidelines for numbers in a group and social distancing. From midnight Wednesday, these activities and businesses will no longer be allowed to continue: - Indoor and outdoor play centres - Community and recreation centres

07.01.2022 Yesterday the Pony Club had a big working bee at the Hall, lots of spring cleaning, mowing, trimming, chainsawing, pressurewashing and tractoring. We started putting up the new fence around the playground as well. There are a few items on the roadside and outside the old fire shed that are free to take if you wish. The work done has really made a big difference, we also concentrated on some security improvements like trimming the front roadside fenceline shrubs down to fence height, this means anyone parking there in future will be a lot more visible. Thanks to all the helpers yesterday.

03.01.2022 Well they are at it again, during the last few days but most likely last night the thieving night creatures have once again stolen from the pony club kids and the community. 7 12ft farm gates have been stolen from the hall grounds, they used a portable angle grinder and a crow bar I imagine to hack the gates off. This must have made a fair racket, they also would have parked near the tennis court and carried them from the horse yards and passed them over the fence to a vehic...le, 7 gates on a trailer or ute would make a fair racket as well while they were driving to wherever they were going. Once again we need to rely on the power of the people in the local community to be vigilant and let us know if they have heard or seen anything or know of anyone putting up new gates at a property or offering gates for sale. Police have been to the hall today and a report is filed. The Lilydale pony club works hard to fundraise and provide these facilities for the kids to enjoy and learn and its the only real asset our community has, it makes me feel sick that we have people like this that would steal from a club that only does good in the community.
