15.01.2022 KAROONDA EXHIBITION CENTRE SHED UPDATE // Works have begun on site for the new Karoonda Exhibition Centre Shed being built adjacent to the Karoonda Oval. The new multi-purpose facility will become the focal point for the well-known Karoonda Farm Fair amongst other community events. ... With the groundworks currently underway, the structure of the shed is due to be installed in January.

12.01.2022 A big shout out to the Wynarka Recreation Grounds volunteers for hosting our Farmers evening on Wednesday night. The volunteers did a fantastic job preparing the Wynarka Clubrooms along with a dinner for all the attendees. Pinion Advisory’s Rebekah Starick & James Hillcoat delivered an informative session on alternative options and diversifying within a farming business, providing farmers with some useful tips and resources to use within their farming business.

05.01.2022 KAROONDA METEORITE CELEBRATES 90 YEARS // On this day 90 years ago Karoonda gained world wide attention after a meteorite landed 2 Miles due East of Karoonda shaking the ground as it did so. It was described as "turning night into day" It was rare and unlike any other found, as although of the 'stony' type, it was mainly iron silicates, eventually being classified a "chondritic asiderite". ... Because of its type it shattered on impact making a crater 46 cm deep with surrounding ridge a little over one metre across, scattering fragments over a two metre diameter area. We are lucky enough to have a small fragment in the Karoonda Council Office, make sure you come in and have a look!
