Its not an easy task, especially to take into consideration specific requests, clashes and most importantly the referee schedule. ... A big thank you to Mia Grantham, Cassie Perry, Sarah & Luke Corker, Michael Gillespie, Lachy Power, Clayton McIntosh and Shane Harris. There were 63 U/12 kids and 31 U/14 kids trial! So great to see such large number want to be involved and develop their skills. ... Individual emails to those who trialed will be sent out by Friday.

Our face to face sessions will be full of Karratha specific tips and tricks to help you along the way! Cost $20 - $30 (pending numbers) The Association Beginner (AB) Course is a course designed by BWA to provide you with the mechanics and procedures to safely and proficiently referee a game of basketball. These courses are open to all ...age groups 12 years and older (as at the date of the course) and will go for approximately 4 hours. 14.01.2022 *** Rising stars program 2020/2021 *** This season Karratha Basketball Association is running a Rising Stars Program. We are inviting all current KBA junior members born in 2008, 2009 & 2010 (Top age u12s, & u14s) to trial for a spot in the Rising Stars Program. ... The emphasis of this program will be to consolidate fundamental basketball skills including: - footwork - spatial awareness - ball skills - decision making - Shooting & Dribbling techniques - Defensive posture, closing out & containment - Court fitness - Boxing out - Beating your player 1V1 So they are equipped with the tool kit to learn more advanced basketball skills including: - Offensive & Defensive structure - Setting various types of screen - Understanding the positions on the court (1,2,3,4,5) & how to be effective in your role - Shooting accurately and consistently from range - Bringing other players into the game - Analysing your opponents strengths & weaknesses, modifying your game to stop/beat them. - Working & communicating as a unit Through attending this program, it will help develop the players skills and understanding of the game & prepare them for the PPP high performance program or representing KBA at country champs in Perth if this is something they are interested in aspiring towards. The Rising Stars Program will only hold approx. 20 positions as we are limited with court space & coaches availability. Trials will be held: Tuesday 25th August 5:30-7pm You must attend the trials or email in your apologies to be considered for the program. Following the trials you will be notified by email if you are successful. 13.01.2022 ***KBA Rising Stars Program Update*** Due to the overwhelming response of interest in the Rising stars development program we have decided to split our trials to include the following two groups: U12s... 2009 - 2010 U14s 2007 - 2008 This will provide more opportunity to more of our junior members to be included in the development pathway. Trials will take place: Courts 1 & 2 indoors at the Leisure Plex. Tuesday 25th of August 5:00 - 6:30pm BYO ball & water bottle Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the session to get your name ticked off and be ready for the warm up. This program is designed as a pathway into BWAs High Performance Program (PPP), therefore successful players who make the "Rising Stars Development Program will be expected to make all sessions a priority to maintain their spot in the squad. For the program to be successful we will require parents to participate in delivering the program. The program will be set and overseen by the KBA committee, however as always we will require volunteers. If you are yet to email through your expression of interest to attend the trials, please do so by Monday 24th August with your childs name and DOB clearly stated to [email protected] The cost of the program will be $20 Per player. This will include a Rising Stars Program reversible singlet and contribute to costs of court hire. We also aim to run another 6 week block later in the season following the Christmas break.
