24.01.2022 Vicki Connolly joined Karratha SES in February 2010, and has held various management team roles which has been of great assistance to not only the Karratha SES Local Unit Manager but the broader membership group. Vicki held the Operations Officer role for many years providing that ever essential support to the management team during those many extended Cyclone operational activations. Vicki has held a dual management role since joining Karratha SES, the role of Admin/Finance... which is a such a critical role ensuring the units finances are in a shipshape position at any given time which is a tribute to her professionalism and commitment. Vicki has a number of rescue skills from Storm Damage, Chainsaw, Land & Air Search and Rescue, Road Crash, etc. Vicki is always prepared to rise to the challenge regardless of the operational activation throughout the Pilbara, some of them being Land SARs; 80 Mile Beach, Capricorn Roadhouse, Pannawonica, Auski Roadhouse and Air Search and Rescues; Coral Bay, Millstream. There are way too many Road Crash and Cyclones activations to mention, all receiving the expert assistance and capability of our lovely Vicki. #ThankYouSES

20.01.2022 A severe storm is forecast for tomorrow (Sunday 24th May 2020) for a significant portion of Western Australia along the coast, approximately from Karratha all the way down to Albany. This is expected to be one of the strongest storms to hit along the length of our State in years, so its important that we all take time today to make sure we are prepared and our properties are secured. That means packing away anything that we can outside and tying down anything that could caus...e damage, such as trampolines. And if anyone is travelling within their regions this weekend, please stay safe and make sure you are cautious on our roads. 19.01.2022 Lest we forget...

17.01.2022 Damien Muller is a long-term leader, volunteer and contributor to our community, Damien is the first to put his hand up to help and the last to leave, with everything done to an exemplary level. Involved in many differing and varied community groups including Karratha State Emergency Service for over 24 years, completing 3,421 volunteer hours in the last ten years, the Burrup Mountain Bike Club for over 10 years, Scouts, Ovation Dance, Baynton West Parents and Citizens Associ...ation and together with his wife Jo been a wildlife carer and SAFE foster carer for more than five years. Damien is the only SES volunteer cliff rescue trainer and assessor in WA, and travels through the Pilbara delivering training to SES branches so they can implement rescues, for example in Karijini. It is a true reflection of his commitment to the community that he undertakes this role as a volunteer. His passion for all things community is contagious, and as a result he draws others in to volunteering. He is the epitome of the ripple effect his actions continue to ripple out into the community in a positive way, long after the start. #ThankYouSES

15.01.2022 Since joining Karratha SES in January 1985 Trevor Patton has devoted endless commitment to the members of our Unit, the community we live in and the wider family of SES across WA. Our Local Manager since 2005 may claim the hardest task has been Vertical Rescue, but we all know his leadership, operational scope and dedication to delivering training are talents demanding adept balance and stamina something Trevor has in spades. Its not just locals who acknowledge his capabi...lity. At the 2010 Annual SES Awards he received the highest individual recognition - the Peter Keillor Award: recognising volunteer excellence, achievement and enthusiasm. Trevor was elected committee member of the SES Volunteers Association in 2013, continuing to represent the voices the Kimberley & Pilbara at this state forum today. In 2014 he featured in the Queens Birthday Honours List, named recipient of the Emergency Services Medal (ESM) for working his way through the ranks of Karratha SES to serve many different positions within the Unit. Through his outstanding management the Unit continues to grow and remains a strong force within the Pilbara, despite the transient nature of the membership catchment area. His outstanding commitment to the community in effective emergency management and mitigation of such events has continually provided significant benefits. Trevors capability in the field with storm damage, flooding, chainsaw, road crash and search situations make him the swiss army knife of preparedness. His ability to step inside to lead strategic response and operational planning, with endless support and encouragement for colleagues, brings a sense of calm and confidence to ride out the rough patches and smooth the way for teams to be effective. Whilst not to mentioned the humour he brings along the way. Trevor has proven himself to be instrumental in building solid working relationships with other agencies key to building resilience of our community. Managers give people something to work on. Leaders give people something to work towards. While Trevors title is Karratha SES Unit Manager he is certainly our much loved Leader and we salute you... Trevor Patton ESM Esteemed, Skilful and Modest #ThankYouSES

Donnas operational achievements are far and varied from Land SAR, Road Crash, Vertical Rescue, these range from Land SARs at Mt Augusta, Mt Bruce, Whim Creek, Millstream, Miaree Pool; there are far too many Road Crash activations to mentions. Donna attended many Air Search and Rescues, such as; MH370 from Perth, Malus Island, Air search 920 Km north of Karratha. Donna has always stepped up as Incident Controller during many a Cyclone operational activation and has been very capable in all aspects this role requires. Donna has a natural ability for thinking and acting on the run which is an essential attribute of this position. #ThankYouSES

14.01.2022 As we come to the close of the National Volunteer Week, it is fitting to give thanks to all our SES volunteers that are assisting our communities with the current large storm effecting much of Western Australia. We can sometimes think of volunteers as emergency service personnel, not realising they are everyday people weaved into the very fabric of all our communities. Other volunteers can be the unsung heroes, quietly going about bringing caring ways in many different role...s each week to people across the country. Then there are also those spontaneous volunteers that pop up in times of need during a crisis. It would be fair to say this quality is inside the majority of our good people in Western Australia. They have a big heart and are there when we need them most. As a shining example of this, the last post for National Volunteer Week (18-24 May 2020) goes to all those special people that step up without being asked and volunteer their help in getting communities back on their feet. Such as everybody assisting with the current storm across WA and in helping Karratha through our cyclones seasons each year. Sometimes our local people are referred to as Karrathas Storm-Troopers... 08.01.2022 Severe Weather Update: Deep low pressure system to impact Western Australia this weekend. Video current at 12 pm AWST, Saturday 23 May 2020. 08.01.2022 The Karratha Emercency Service Open day was a blast with lots of things to see and do including our road crash rescue demonstration. Teams from Karratha SES, Karratha VFRS and St. John Ambulance worked together to free a simulated trapped casualty from the car. Great team work and interagency cooperation. Thanks very much to the Karratha Police for organising this event to showcase the invaluable skills of these volunteers to our community.... 02.01.2022 Rosie joined Karratha SES in November 2007 and has been a very proactive member since joining. Beyond the mechanics of gaining skills in Vertical Rescue, Rosies passion for being on ropes and commitment to continually hone techniques ensures that Rosie is fully prepared to put her hand up for short notice operational activations. The vertical rescue role for Karratha SES is a supporting role to Tom Price and Newman SES, meaning activations are few and far between. This has...nt deterred Rosies passion nor professionalism. In addition to Vertical Rescue, Rosies skills are well utilised in Road Crash, Storm Damage, Land and Air Search and Rescue. Rosie has dedicated these skills in many operational activations and represented our Unit as a member of the Red Dirt Rescuers in the national rescue competition scene. Rosie has a young family which she balances with her passion for her SES roles. When the balance falls in our favour Rosie is in the first vehicle or aircraft to respond. Rosie has been utilised operationally for many Road Crashes in the Karratha area and further afield as well as being deployed to Exmouth TC Iggy, Marble Bar TC Rusty and Karratha TC Veronica & TC Damien. There have been a number of significant Air Search and Rescues that Rosie was called upon, including Carnarvon and Dampier Peninsula. Rosie is a young Mum with a huge heart, who we are proud to have on our team... #ThankYouSES
