21.01.2022 Today marks the official end to the quietest fire season in more than a decade, a welcome and stark contrast to last year. This season, NSW RFS members have res...ponded to just over 5,500 bush and grass fires that have burnt 30,963 hectares across NSW, considerably less than the 11,400 fires and 5.5 million hectares lost last season. Thank you to our incredible members who continuously step up to help when called upon, protecting communities across the state

21.01.2022 Just a reminder that the official Bushfire Season does not end till the 31st March (Unless otherwise stated by the NSW RFS) If you qualify to do a pile burn on your property you still require a Fire Permit to do so.

07.01.2022 The 20/21 Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) has officially ended. While Fire Permits are generally not required outside the BFDP it varies from area to area, such ...as in Fire and Rescue NSW jurisdiction, or where the activity may endanger a building. Your local Fire Control Centre can assist with requirements specific to your area: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/about-us/fcc If you’re planning to burn on your property and have all the necessary approvals in place, don’t forget to notify your neighbours and local fire agency at least 24hrs ahead. You can notify us of your activity online at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

06.01.2022 SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL EVENT FOR NSW Coastal parts of NSW are unlikely to see the sun for the next week as persistent onshore winds drive showers over the regio...n, with inland areas also likely to see some follow up rain over the next week. Widespread falls of 50-150mm are likely over many parts of the east and adjacent ranges, however, for some places particualy along the Mid North Coast, we could be looking at falls of between 200-300mm with pockets of up to 400mm, resulting in the renewed risk of riverine flooding. For the Northern Inland, showers and thunderstorms will return over the next two days, with falls of 20-40mm likely and some isolated falls of 50-100mm possible under thunderstorms.
