25.01.2022 Some good friends of Karuna - Laila & Damian, recently had a beautifull baby girl - Frida They held a Tibetan Blessing ceremony to welcome her into the circle of life and collected donations for Karuna as a wish for giving rather than receiving Such a wonderfull gesture and we wish Frida and their other daughter Dalia a happy life ahead

22.01.2022 It’s been a happy start to 2021 for a young girl who has just been released from a children’s home after too many years. We’ve known and assisted Pradeepa since 2014 and now she’s back with family we’re committed to helping her with expenses , clothing, food and schooling We visited her new home and she received her 1st Karuna care kit and also a good supply of food items for her and the family.

19.01.2022 When kids and families struggle to afford 3 meals a day ,a fun trip anywhere is a welcome relief Thanks to the Freetown trust we organised a day out to a beautifull natural water slide and lake area that the kids have long wished to see Of course they had breakfast , lunch , treats and a visit to a temple along the way aswell. Days like this just let the children know there is a brighter future out there and we at Karuna are committed to helping them achieve this. Merry Xmas to all our friends and sponsors out there and Thankyou for your continued support

17.01.2022 Happy birthday to a young lady who’s had a very tough upbringing but still keeps smiling through it all We met Dileka on our first visit to an orphanage in 2012 and were now assisting her to make a better life For the record she’s 19 not 91

09.01.2022 Sadly covid has come back to Sri Lanka But just before another travel ban we were able to deliver some much needed clothes drawers and food supplies to an orphanage we have been helping Apeksha wijia who rely on our help. We also visited 3 other orphanages with food supplies where we know some of the girls there.

08.01.2022 Our Karuna care kits continue to be a big hit with kids and the families We have set Dileka up in a safe boarding house and found her a job as she had no other help available. So she relies on the monthly sanitary products, soaps, hair products and washing powders we supply her in the care kits Big thanks to Sarah And her fabulous donors for sponsoring these kits and helping to improve lives

08.01.2022 Karuna Surf School is Go! On our visit last year we treated the kids to a lesson and they loved it so much were now starting regular classes Sri Lanka’s never had a pro on the world tour so maybe one of our girls or boys can make it! It also helps the local surf schools who have no tourist income since Covid hit so it’s a win-win Thanks as always to our amazing donors for making this happen

06.01.2022 Our Karuna Care Kits continue to be distributed every month , giving the children we help all the necessary sanitary items to help with their daily needs Simple things we take for granted are not easily afforded by those that need them most Big thanks to Sarah & Ian and Freetown for making this possible

04.01.2022 Delighted to announce our English lessons have re-started after months of Covid shutdown The kids have been so keen to get these important lessons going again and fingers crossed the swimming and computer lessons will follow suit! We also provide dinner and treats after class so they don’t go home on an empty stomach Fingers crossed everyone can continue to stay happy and healthy in Sri Lanka

04.01.2022 After a tough year we’ve tried to make up for it with some Xmas cheer for the kids We treated them all to a shopping trip and new outfits So good to see t...he smiles again A fun experience after all the lockdowns and covid chaos. Thanks to all our amazing sponsors for contributing throughout the year and we wish you a merry Xmas See more

03.01.2022 Happiest of birthdays to dearest Pradeepa she has been recently released to family after many years in children’s homes so we made sure her first real birthday in a long time was a happy one Some jewellery and perfume and a giant cake thanks to john Woods , and surrounded by her friends who also grew up with her in these orphanages made it memorable So good to see the smiles

02.01.2022 We recently visited 2 orphanages Childrens corner and Apeksha Vijia, that we regularly help with food donations. Both homes are providing a safe and secure environment for the children and we were also delighted to see the draw cabinets for clothing we donated last visit were well stocked! Thanks to our donors as always for helping improve lives
