19.01.2022 Is a toner absolutely necessary? How often do you need to get your hair toned? The questions I get asked a lot Your final colour comes from... the toning process. When your hair is lightened and bleached the pigment is being taken out of the hair. The toner is used after this to correct and neutralise unwanted tones that your hair has lifted to, for instance, if your hair has lifted to be orange or yellow. If your foils have lifted beautifully I may use a toner to add the desired tone to the hair, whether it’s icy blonde, golden, creamy, copper, It’s actually the most important part of the colouring process. Toners are not just for achieving blonde shades. They can be vital for any hair colour: brunettes, red hair and even uncoloured hair, if you want to maintain your natural colour but add shine, a toner can be applied to add a beautiful gloss also. Toners can last between two and six weeks depending how well you take care of your hair. If you’re washing your hair every day your toner is going to fade quicker, The longer you can stretch out your washes the better. To maintain your colour for longer between appointments I recommend to use a purple shampoo, this will keep your toner looking fresher for longer, which is what we all want!
