24.01.2022 A very beautiful and thoughtful treatise on relationship... "For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation." Rainer Maria Rilke

22.01.2022 After our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, I'm so honoured to have been elected co-President, together with the magnificent Rose Merifield, of the Association of Soul Centred Psychotherapy. I'm looking forward to contributing in this way to this precious, long standing Association, a highly regarded constituent member of PACFA (the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia).

22.01.2022 Another commentary on this topic... we need to be seeking explanation rather than mere description, providing therapy rather than symptom suppression, and seeing the client as an individual rather than a diagnosis.

21.01.2022 In an outcome driven culture which continually emphasises product over process, ironically, obsessive busyness IS the outcome. But how can we know what we know, how do feel what we feel when every minute is scheduled? We can't, and it's normal that depression and anxiety are a result as the Self tries to communicate it's distress and pain to our distracted minds. Having a mindful approach where we are able to witness our inner states, hear the deep calling from our Self, req...uires time and space... The opposite to incessant busyness. "... our addiction to busyness has three adverse consequences. First, we’re becoming a sleep-deprived society. Second, we’re becoming afraid of stillness, solitude and inactivity. Third, busyness can both distract us and insulate us from the needs of the people around us. Busyness decompassions us".

20.01.2022 There are many myths out there about love, relationships and how to thrive within them. Never before have we expected so much of our partners. With 3 out of 10 marriages ending in divorce and another 3 existing in a miserable state, how can couples learn the "practice of love" to thrive in their relationships? With Soul Centred Imago Therapy, I've successfully taught many couples to practice their love with the discipline, concentration and patience that Esther Perel describes as well as the sacredness inherent in Soul Centred Psychotherapy. 20.01.2022 Soul Centred Psychotherapy uses tapping and the meridian system as a method to explore and process challenging life experiences, including trauma, stress and negative beliefs. Last night's episode of SBS's Medicine or Myth? investigated tapping as a way of managing stress and working with depression and anxiety. The results are really worth checking out... https://www.sbs.com.au//2019/04/29/can-you-tap-your-stress

19.01.2022 Keeping up with current trauma theory is an ongoing task. In Soul Centred Psychotherapy we are trained extensively in working with trauma in adults, and this article about developmental trauma in children is fascinating. I can see the way childhood adaptation to early trauma carries through to adults. This 'bottom up' model is a great understanding.

17.01.2022 Yep, this explanation of contemporary trauma processing is similar to how I understand it to be from my training at the Kairos Centre. I'm so grateful once again to Andrew and Kaalii Cargill for their pioneering development of the modality of Soul Centred Psychotherapy which approaches trauma in this way.

12.01.2022 This is an essential misunderstanding to clear up. In this age of mental health information being readily available on the internet, it's easy to 'diagnose' family, friends, partners and ourselves. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a diagnosis where the corresponding behaviour can be applied to many people who have complex trauma in their background. However the stigma attached to BPD is extreme, both in the mental health field and in the community. When behaviour is ...characterised as a personality disorder, the implication is that the person has no control over what they do, say and feel. However, if we view the behaviour as part of a trauma response, the outlook is more optimistic since trauma can be processed and distressing inner states alleviated. Modern psychotherapeutic perspective has moved beyond asking "what's wrong with this person? " to asking instead "what's happened to this person? ". It's time the internet and wider mental health community caught up. See more

11.01.2022 I'm so pleased to recommend Tahli Rickman to anyone seeking Soul Centred Psychotherapy in the Melbourne inner city area. She is highly trained and skilled with a particular capacity for heartful attunement.

10.01.2022 Some comprehensive recent research showing the how and why of nature supporting mental health.

09.01.2022 The soulful importance of ritual and enactment in the journey of grief... a beautiful telling.
