25.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers Just listening to the Premier and Minister for Education (Victoria) and the announcements being made. At this point the following has been stated, things could change but this is the most current information that I have; Regional Victoria Return to School... Last 2 Weeks of Term 3 Remote Learning Week 1 - 5th - 9th October Remote Learning Week 2 - 12th October 16th October All students will return to school. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's, I hope you all have a great day. Jason

22.01.2022 Victorian Chief Health Officer message to parents I am writing to Victorian parents, carers and students today to seek every family’s support in slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria. As the school holidays approach, we can’t ease up on looking after ourselves and our families. The only thing between us and a second wave is what we do next.... Wherever you go, please be mindful of the risks. Be aware others may be carrying the virus and practice physical distancing. We are currently experiencing the highest case numbers we’ve seen in more than two months. Current evidence suggests that the rise in case numbers in Victoria is being driven by families having get-togethers and not following advice around physical distancing and hygiene. Unfortunately, we are still in a pandemic and people’s lives are still at risk. As we’ve seen across the world, this virus has the ability to turn a small number of cases into hundreds in a matter of days. This is not where we want to be and we must all act now while we can. This is why we’ve had to implement a number of revised restrictions. The number of visitors you can have at your home is now reduced to five. Outside the home, families and friends can meet in groups up to ten. This is how each and every member of the community can help: Stay safe while out in the community. Stay safe at home. And that means only seeing those you need to. Don’t have big family gatherings and remember to keep your distance and maintain good hygiene. Don’t share food or drinks. If you, or anyone in your family is feeling unwell stay at home. Don’t visit friends and family. Don’t go on holiday if you are unwell and don’t go to work. Don’t send your kids to school, childcare or kindergarten if they are unwell - stay home. And if you have symptoms, get tested. The vast majority of Victorians are doing the right thing, but this is a wake-up call and we cannot be complacent. It’s up to all of us to keep our friends and families safe. For current information and updates on coronavirus (COVID-19) visit the Victorian Government’s coronavirus website. If anyone in your family has any of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, they should stay at home, seek advice and get tested. These symptoms include fever, chills or sweats, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath or runny nose, or loss of sense of smell or taste. For more information about where to get tested visit the getting tested for coronavirus web page. If you’re concerned yourself or a family member has contracted the virus and need more information, please call the 24-hour coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398. Adj Clin Prof Brett Sutton Victorian Chief Health Officer

18.01.2022 Hello, Some of you may have heard of the extended school break due to the reinstatement of Stage 3 Restrictions in some areas of Melbourne. At this moment, it does not include regional Victoria, aside from Mitchell Shire. As per Minister Andrews briefing this morning - Many parents, teachers and students will be worried about what happens with the school year. I can confirm that all Year 11 and Year 12 students in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will go back to ...school for Term 3 as planned, along with our special schools. For students Prep to Year 10, we’re going to extend the school holidays by one week, so we can get more advice from our health experts. But I want to be upfront and let parents know that a return to remote learning for these kids is a possibility, if that’s what they tell us is safest. For people who live in regional Victoria, where case numbers remain low, current restrictions will remain the same for now. As of right now school resumes for Katamatite Primary Students on Monday July 13, as per usual. I will keep you all informed as soon as I hear any different. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Please don’t contact Scott and Heidi. Regards, Jason.

12.01.2022 Return to Remote & Flexible Learning Dear Parents and Carers, Unfortunately we will need to return to Remote and Flexible Learning from Wednesday August 5th.... Monday August 3rd will be a normal school day. Tuesday August 4th will be a Pupil Free Day for teachers to prepare. Wednesday August 5th students will return to Remote and Flexible Learning. There will be more details released by the Department of Education over the next 24 hours, as soon as I have it I will let you know. There will be some students who are eligible to attend school for a supervision program, these details will be released, hopefully tomorrow. I am confident that Katamatite Primary will be able to provide an effective Remote and Flexible learning program for students. This may take a bit longer than Wednesday, we will do our very best. We are providing on-site learning for those families that need it. The booking system will go live tomorrow for parents to book their students in for the remainder of the week. Please try to stay positive, calm and remind your children that everything will be alright, we are doing this to make sure that everything is fixed up as quickly as possible so that we can return to a normal school life. Yours sincerely Jason.

05.01.2022 Last week as part of the our Halloween/Dress-Up day we participated in a range of activities, one of which was the time honoured tradition of apple bobbing. Given the unusual times we are living through the garden got a good watering as we changed the water after every person and everyone got at least one apple. Mind you after seeing some of the bobbing techniques, on occasions, there wasn't a whole lot of water that made it to the garden. Fun times

05.01.2022 We had an issue with dirty water at school today. I have been in touch with Goulburn Valley Water who are investigating. Today we walked the school down to the park and accessed the water fountain where we filled bottles and had a drink. Please note that we currently aren’t allowed to use the bubblers and have been filling drink bottles up in the staff room. Please send your students to school with a named bottle on Monday.
