25.01.2022 Lachie Ash became the 166th player from the GVL make his AFL debut in 2020, pulling on the boots for the GWS Giants. Lachie is the 29th player from Shepparton F...ootball Netball Club to play AFL, which means the Bears can now claim bragging rights for the most number of GVL players who have gone on to play AFL. Lachie is also the first graduate of the AFL Goulburn Murray Academy to play AFL. Lachie spent his younger years at Katandra Kats before joining Shepparton where he made his Seniors debut in 2016. Lachie has been involved with the Bears since around the age of 5 where his father Stephen Ash was a champion footballer. He also played with the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup where he was co-captain. In 2019 he also played in the AFL Under 18 National Championships, where he co-captained the Victorian Country Side. 2019 was a massive year for Lachie as this was the year he was drafted by GWS into the AFL as pick number 4. Debuting in 2020, Lachie played 12 games, kicked 1 goal and won GWS's Rising Star Award. We're excited to see what's next for Lachie in 2021. #GVLtoAFL #GVLFootball

The Reserves Coaching position will be filled by Senior 200 Gamer, Nathan White. The club is very fortunate to have the calibre of these individuals undertake these positions, they are great leaders of the club and are excellent role models for not only all existing players but also our up and com...ing junior players. The club will also like to thank Jaidyn Thorne (Reserves) & Alex Zinonos (U/14’s) for filling coaching tenures in recent years your efforts and commitment to our club do not go unnoticed and positively contribute to not only your associated team but to the club as a whole. A special mention also to Brett Walters, who after 6yrs as an U/14 mentor has decided to relinquish the coaching reigns. 13.01.2022 Katandra FNC is set to benefit from a $50,000 Federal Government grant to upgrade the netball courts at the Katandra West Recreation Reserve The redevelopment is one of several projects within Greater Shepparton, thanks to Drought Communities Program (DCP) funding that targets regions that have experienced economic hardship due to recent drought. The works include investigation and design of the drainage between the courts and resurfacing of both courts, which should e...nable compliance and an upgraded court surface. The intention is to work towards engaging contractors and completing works prior to the 2021 football/netball season. Council envisage that these works will be a short to medium term upgrade for the courts, with the surface remaining in good condition for 5-7 years. This is great news for our club and some reward for the conversations had with council over many years, whilst acknowledging there is more to be done in the longer term.
12.01.2022 REMINDER Katandra FNC's Annual General Meeting will take place TODAY from 6pm at the Katandra West Recreation Reserve. More information on our website. COVID safety protocols will apply.
12.01.2022 Katandra FNC's 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held next Thursday, 12th November from 6pm at the Katandra West Recreation Reserve. ALL COMMITTEE POSITIONS ARE OPEN if someone wishes to join the committee please advise one of the current committee members and we will endeavour to organise how this is to take place.
12.01.2022 To all our players, supporters, life members and sponsors, The committee recently voted unanimously to once again investigate a possible return to the Picola & District Football League and compete at a district level following our unsuccessful attempt last year. Bree and myself presented to the PDFNL Board and club presidents via Zoom the end result of these presentations is that "The PDFNL Board has tonight announced they have agreed, in principle, to accept both Katandra... and Tungamah FNC’s as members for season 2021". Although this is exciting news for our club, it is important to note that this decision will have to be ratified at our club AGM in late October/early November (TBC). There is still a lot of work to do before we are once again competing against our northern neighbours but this is a significant step in ensuring the long term sustainability of our club post-COVID. Katandra FNC has faced a lot of challenges over the last 4 years but it is a testament to the resilience of everyone involved at Katandra that we continue to show great leadership within our community during such times. We will pass on further information and AGM details as they come to hand. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or queries. Regards, Corey Wilson Katandra FNC Pesident
11.01.2022 Thursday night meals are back at the Community Centre!
11.01.2022 Katandra Football Netball Club netballers and supporters are set to be welcomed by exciting new netball courts next season. As part of the Federal Government's Drought Communities Program, the netball and tennis courts at Katandra West Recreation Reserve are set for a face-lift. The grant of nearly $50,000 will be used to improve drainage between the courts and resurfacing of both courts.... The redevelopment is part of several projects - announced earlier this month - for towns impacted by drought hardship in the Greater Shepparton region. The Federal Government will provide $1 million in funding for the projects. Club vice-president Bree Dudgeon said the entire football and netball club was pleased with the news. The club is pretty stoked and very happy, she said. I know all the netballers are super keen and excited to run out on the updated courts. But it's also not just about the netballers, we are a close-knit family club and everyone is excited. To be able to provide exciting news for the club's supporters and members and something they can look forward to during these difficult times is important. The upgrades to the courts are expected to keep them in good condition for up to seven years. Dudgeon said it was rewarding to see the courts upgraded and revealed when the works were set to be completed. It's rewarding and nice knowing that the courts will be up to scratch for the next five to seven years, she said. We have had a couple of discussions with council and last year those chats really ramped up. And thankfully we were lucky enough to be picked for the Drought Community Program. It will be around $50,000 for the recreation reserve and we have been advised that it will be completed before next season. Story by Aydin Payne, Shepparton News

11.01.2022 To all club members, sponsors, players and supporters, KFNC regret to advise that as of this week ALL MFNL football and netball competitions for season 2020 have been officially abandoned. These decisions were made in the best interests of the clubs and their communities. The main points of interest considered were:... The recent tightening of restrictions by the Victorian Government; The closure of borders; Additional burden on volunteers to comply with COVID-19 protocols and procedures; Community health impacts. KFNC will continue to monitor the situation regionally and identify any opportunities for our junior members to participate in netball and football if they arise. Consequently, it is paramount that we comply with all the regulations presented to us to ensure that we do everything we need to do to protect not only our representatives but just as importantly our community. On a more positive note, the club will aim to open up our facilities and offer our ‘Thursday Night Meals’ and a place for all to catch up as soon as we are allowed. These are extreme and challenging times and I wish to thank everyone for being understanding and supportive as we continue to work our way through it. If you have any questions or queries you wish to raise, please feel free to contact either myself or any committee members at any time. Regards, Corey Wilson KFNC President
10.01.2022 A special mention to the Murray Football Netball League for their acceptance and understanding of an extremely difficult situation for our club. In a time where the sporting community was crying out for some leadership in the region, the MFNL and their executive took it upon themselves to embrace our club and offer a space to compete. All clubs were welcoming of our participation and it was a fantastic challenge for us to compete in such a strong competition. ... The 2 years competing in this league will hopefully benefit our players and club for many years to come. On behalf of Katandra FNC we wish to personally thank the MFNL Operations Manager, the MFNL Executive, MFNL Club Presidents and all MFNL Clubs for allowing us to be a part of your competition over the last few years. 09.01.2022 Katandra Football Netball Club's 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Thursday, 12th November. Obviously with the current restrictions, regulations and absence of an actual season, this years AGM may be a little different. A couple of things we wish to highlight are: ACTUAL TIME & LOCATION OF AGM TBC we will see what our options are based on the Covid restrictions that are in place at the time.... ALL COMMITTEE POSITIONS ARE OPEN if someone wishes to join the committee please advise one of the current committee members and we will endeavour to organise how this is to take place. It is proposed that under the ‘Model Rules For An Incorporated Association - Section 77 - Alteration of Rules’ the following amendments will be tabled: League Transfer - If 75 percent or more members vote to either change leagues or remain in a league then the Committee will use this information in determining a decision going forward. (There is currently no reference in relation to changing leagues within the constitution this needs to be added for future situations) Acknowledgement of affiliation with the PDFNL and governance of any grievance with league is to comply with procedures outlined in the PDFNL rules. (A requirement of PDFNL this is conditional of our application being approved)

07.01.2022 Murray Football Netball League Executive and Club Presidents met on Monday night. The Murray FNL Executive and Clubs remain committed to season 2020 and fully intend the competition beginning. This, of course, will be subject to Government restrictions and Return to Play protocols yet to be released by the governing body. The League has not confirmed a date of return and taking the time required to explore fixture alternatives. As a League it is acknowledged the situati...on remains a moving target and any decision may be subject to change. As a League we are constantly reviewing matters such as crowd restrictions and the financial viability of a season for clubs, the ability to generate revenue is critical. Clubs must be able to host crowds and functions. All clubs agree, that with no crowds there can be no play. Should a senior season not be able to proceed the League remains committed to running a junior football and netball competition. A format will be drafted and released to clubs over the next fortnight. The Murray FNL Executive is encouraged that all Clubs are either training or close to returning to training. When, or if, a Club resumes training remains entirely up to the discretion of the individual Club. Clubs need to ensure they are compliant with all guidelines imposed by the State Government, AFL Victoria, Netball Victoria and be confident that when the season does indeed go ahead, are well prepared to meet the protocols to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The Executive and Clubs will continue to meet regularly or when new protocols come to hand. We are all in this together and will remain to take a collaborative approach for the return of a football and netball season 2020. The Murray FNL number one priority remains the safety and wellbeing of supporters, players, umpires, officials, volunteers and the community.

05.01.2022 To all club members, sponsors, players and supporters, The MFNL executives and clubs last night voted to cancel the 2020 season for all grades of senior football and netball this decision was made in the best interests of the clubs and their communities. The main points of interest considered were:... The recent tightening of restrictions by the Victorian Government; No clear direction from the Victorian Government in relation to the club’s ability to host crowds; Revenue streams for clubs has been impacted due to the inability to generate sponsorship and membership sales; Additional burden on volunteers to comply with COVID-19 protocols and procedures; Community health impacts; Ongoing confusion over cross border protocols. The MFNL will now focus on the possibility of running a junior competition for both football and netball in the coming months subject to both Victorian and NSW guidelines. Katandra FNC will work with the MFNL to support this initiative and hopefully provide some winter sporting opportunities for the junior members of our club. After finally receiving approval to use our oval and courts from the council this week it was hoped that we could return to some normality during these unprecedented times, but unfortunately that was not to be. Consequently, it is paramount that we comply with all the regulations presented to us to ensure that we do everything we need to do to protect not only our representatives but just as importantly our community. The COVID 19 situation is consistently changing and as this information comes to hand, we will hopefully be able to provide some further direction to all concerned. It is important to note that as soon as restrictions allow us we will be offering our ‘Thursday Night Meals’ and a place for all to catch up. These are extreme and challenging times and I wish to thank everyone for being understanding and supportive as we continue to work our way through it. If you have any questions or queries you wish to raise, please feel free to contact either myself or any committee members at any time. Regards, Corey Wilson KFNC President
