24.01.2022 Canberra bus stops

20.01.2022 TIMEOUT I thought I'd just let you all know I'm taking a little timeout to recover from my surgery. In the past I've not been very good at letting myself rest, but this time I will be fully resting. This time I want to ensure my overall recovery to good health is quicker and longer lasting. I am hopeful to be fully recovered by the end of next week. I did a lot of work leading up to the surgery to get fit and healthy. I am feeling quite well, so I'm pretty confident of a speedy recovery. Have a lovely weekend.

18.01.2022 Original Aboriginal Artwork by me. Not a print. "The Birthing Pod" is part of the story of Goondoowee (a tale written by me). "Upon arrival at her mija Girrandjirri's mothers embraced her, guiding her to the sacred birthing grounds. There they prepared the birthing pod that would recieve Goondoowee into this world. The birthing pod is made from the sacred rushes of the waters that sit within their sacred women's place. The rushes are weaved into a sacred vessel to recieve and... carry the newborn into this world, safely. The pod is floated in the waters of their sacred women's place, and each mother bathes the newborn in the waters. The birthing pod is lined with the birthing cloths of all mothers past and present. The cloths are stitched and weaved together with delicate designs symbolising the giving of life." I'm an Aboriginal artist based in the Riverland SA. My people, culture and country is Gudjula and Girramay in far North Queensland. I have a passion for keeping Aboriginal culture and stories alive through my art. I also draw inspiration from my time spent living in South America and learning about my sons Indigenous and Spanish cultures. I love to meld my Gudjula and Girramay cultural artistry and the vibrant, colourful, textural artisan crafts of the Indigenous people of Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Brazil. "The Birthing Pod" is gouache and acrylic paint on tex-ti textured pastel canvas paper, 365gsm. Approx. 74cm x 54cm. Price: $265 plus postage (standard $8.95, express $12.95). The painting will be posted in a hard postal tube and layered with grease proof acid free paper to protect the painting during transport. Original artworks come with a certificate of authenticity, signed by me. You will also recieve the part of the story that comes with this painting and one of my poetry cards, with artwork and poetry by me. Please message me if you would like to purchase this piece. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your support.

13.01.2022 Original Aboriginal Artwork by me. Not a print. "GUNDUY, Spirit Guide" is part of the story of Goondoowee (a tale written by me). "The Gunduy came to her on her life's walk in the setting of light of the night when she was in the throws of pounding pains. It cycled her and sung out a fierce cry upon the winds of the mountain cliffs." I'm an Aboriginal artist. My people, culture and country is Gudjula and Girramay in far North Queensland. 11.01.2022 My son has been bugging me to make a dream catcher for a gift for someone lovely for some time now. I finally got to it today. I really like how it turned out. I'm not sure I could do more, they take so long to create. The ultimate design was my sons idea and I love what he came up with. The use of shells and a First Nation art print are a great combo.

07.01.2022 NEW IN STORE www.gunduybykatbell.com/shop Today I added these beauties to my online shop. All are handmade by me. Each piece can take several hours to weave, stitch, bead and construct. No 2 pieces are exactly the same. Their rustic touches are part of their traditional artesan charm. Thank you for supporting my little one-woman business. ... Gunduy by Kat Bell #handmade See more

03.01.2022 My new favourite pastime. I love seeing how my art might look on different clothing and footwear. I've always wanted to create wearable art.
