22.01.2022 Celebrating World Ranger Day 2020 World Ranger Day commemorates rangers killed or injured in the line of duty, and celebrates the work rangers do to protect the... world’s natural and cultural treasures. It is observed annually on the 31st of July, and is promoted by the 63 member associations of the International Ranger Federation (IRF), by its partner the Thin Green Line Foundation, and by individuals who support the work of rangers and the IRF. PWS is taking the opportunity to celebrate the people behind Tasmania’s parks and reserves and to highlight the work of its staff in protecting and promoting them. Parks staff are not all rangers. There’s a large number of specialist areas that parks staff work in. There are field officers, engineers, GIS specialists, visitor service officers, community engagement officers, historic heritage and maritime archaeologists, interpretation and education officers, fire crew, fire management officers, accredited builders, marketing and communication officers, administration officers, and off course rangers and more. PWS staff work hard behind the scenes to conserve and present our national parks and reserves as places to connect with each other and the natural environment, as places that conserve Tasmania’s unique biodiversity, and contribute to Tasmanian’s economy and way of life places to have fun, work and undertake adventures. Join us today in celebrating them! Tasmanian Ranger Association International Ranger Federation The Thin Green Line Foundation
