25.01.2022 Just 1 week to go! I'm really excited about this upcoming local production celebrating Yackandandah's rich history. Six local characters, all buried in Yackandandah cemetery, will tell the stories of their lives in a special alfresco performance in the Anglican Church grounds. My talented friend Bridget Doyle is performing my monologue of Irishwoman Bridget Leonard, and it's all coming together beautifully under the skilful direction of Brendan Hogan. Please book your tickets through Arts Yackandandah and come along.
24.01.2022 Big thanks to Wodonga Council for their Fridays On My Mind initiative. I'll be there tomorrow night running a fun workshop from 5:30pm. Come and say hi if you're in the area soaking up the tunes and that delicious end of the week feeling.
23.01.2022 The Sum of Us project is now on at the Albury LibraryMuseum and looks great! Nine local museums/collections each chose an item to depict the exhibition theme 'quirky domestic'. Photography by the super-talented Nina O'Brien, co-ordinated by the fabulous Kim Biggs and written interpretations by me. As the intro spiel says; "Each of these unpolished gems has a story connecting us to something more and something real. Please join us as we celebrate quirky over perfect. Take a moment to cheer on these delightfully off-centre objects as they step quietly out of the wings to take centre stage." Entry is free and it is on display until March 19.
21.01.2022 The short film, 'Potholes' is ready to head out into the world at the Beechworth Writers, Readers and Poets' Festival this weekend. It's based on my short story of the same name and it has been a terrific collaborative project co-written, co-directed and co-produced with my talented friend, Brendan Hogan. Please come along to the George Kerford Hotel in Beechworth this Sunday, February 12th at 12:45pm-1:45pm, to see 'Potholes' and hear a discussion with myself & filmmaker Helen Newman about the process of taking the story from page to screen. Tickets are $10 (free for Potholes cast and crew). I would really love to see you there. Kate x
21.01.2022 There hasn't been much news on here for a while which is a sure sign of some actual work being done! This morning, a cast of 10 and a crew of 7 will assemble to begin Day 1 of filming Potholes, a short film based on my short story of the same name. Before the madness begins I'm just taking a little quiet moment to breathe, to say 'golly' and to practise my new favourite word, 'ACTION!'.
21.01.2022 Melbourne friends, I'm beyond chuffed to have my monologue, Hashtag, included in this year's Madwomen Monologues. It's on in Program 2 so will be performed on November 10 and 12. I'll head along on Saturday, November 12 if anyone is free for a catch up. Kate x
17.01.2022 My first day back at the desk today. Here's to everyone out there trying to wrangle a half-decent sentence.

11.01.2022 What's not to love about a festival that promotes 'fresh thinking and joyful communicating'? I'm running a memoir-writing workshop on the Sunday afternoon and doing a reading on Sunday morning. Can't wait, Beechworth! http://beechworthartscouncil.org.au/wrap-2016-2/
09.01.2022 I love anything that celebrates women who write, so I am super chuffed to be part of Madwomen Monologue 2016. See you on November 12th Melbourne pals. Can't wait!

06.01.2022 Every 2 years there's a wonderful Arts Festival in Wangaratta, called GANEAA. I'm delighted to be running a short story writing workshop as part of GANEAA 2017, coming up on May 7th. Bookings close this Friday. Please note that due to other commitments this will be my only short story workshop for the year. So, if you have a story bubbling away inside you please book in and come along. I'd love to see you there.
04.01.2022 Thank you for all you encouragement and support of my funny little writing life this year. Wishing you a 2016 filled with creative energy and random moments of joy.
02.01.2022 My story about swimming in the Murray River is now being projected from MAMA (Modern Art Museum Albury) from 4pm each day. It's a collaborative piece and I'm delighted that it is now having another life at MAMA. Huge thanks to amazing sound/visual artist Joshua Salisbury-Carter and wonderful Tasmanian actor Jane Longhurst for her beautiful reading of my story. Special thanks to those hardy Murray River swimmers featured in the video for taking the plunge and for the inspiration. It's screening until June so if you're wandering about Albury in the later part of the day, please stop by.
