21.01.2022 This week is Mental Health Week and last Friday I was at the Adelaide Oval with these 2 legends, Bel Ryan and Bek Smith, for their "Growing Hope" Breakfast to kick off Mental Health Week. As someone who has been personally affected by mental illness, I really appreciate people like Bel and Bek who put mental health in the spotlight and continue important conversations around understanding the causes and how to provide better support. The stats around Mental Health are distur...bing, to say the least. Did you know that 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness in any one year? With stats that high, remember there is a fair chance you will encounter someone who is experiencing mental illness - EVERY SINGLE DAY! So for Mental Health Week (and all the time really!) this is a friendly reminder to please be kind. You don't know what people are dealing with and your kindness could be the thing that gets them through their day. Your smile could make all the difference! Have a great week :-)
19.01.2022 2 1/2 months ago, I was meant to be MCing the SA Woman Summit... but 5 days before the event, it was postponed due to the COVID lockdown. Last week I was holding my breath and crossing my fingers that we didn't get any more outbreaks. I was so paranoid that I didn't even put up any social media posts in case I jinxed it! Well, I'm glad to say that on Friday we managed to get to the Adelaide Oval for the SA Woman Summit!!! WOOHOO!!! And now that it's happened (and I've recove...red from the weekend!) I can put up some photos!! A massive shoutout to Carly Thompson-Barry Founder of SA Woman, The SA Woman Dream Team and Anita Martin Event Creative - who technically organised not only 1, but 2 Summits (with the longest lead time EVER!!!) And congratulations on the amazing lineup of speakers that you put together for the SA Woman Community! It was a huge day with so many gold nuggets of wisdom and so much fun! We were lucky enough to hear from the amazing speakers on the day: Hayley Osborne, Emily Hilder, Joslyn Hutchinson, Sarah Reimann, Aly Garrett FCA, Kathryn Adams, Bel Ryan, Melanie Tate, Lisa Wells and Kara Lambert BA(Psychology) Grad Dip (Mgt) And I am so grateful we got to hold the event and gather with over 120 women in 1 room. In today's environment, I really appreciate how lucky we are! Here are my limited photos from the event - I got a bit busy with all the action on the day!

17.01.2022 The second session of the Comedy School for Speakers Humour short-course is now ready to watch - in this session I talk about the big mistakes (HUGE!) that Speakers make when they use humour that can potentially damage their credibility and affect their ability to have people take them seriously. Making these mistakes can also mean that humour will distract from your message and your content rather than enhance it. To watch the second session of the course click the link ht...tps://kateburr.lpages.co/comedy-school-for-speakers-shor/ Enjoy the session and if you have any questions, please let me know

14.01.2022 RUOK Day is today, where we are encouraged to check in with people and their mental wellbeing. This is a big day in the Mental Health Calendar - and I'm so grateful for days like this as it gives us a chance to put mental health in the spotlight. So on RUOK day, you are meant to ask someone are they ok. Which is fine if they know the answer - but some people don't have any idea what emotions they are feeling because they genuinely don't know!... So I've come up with a technique to help those of us who are not well versed in "emotional speak", to translate our emotions based on the way we are using the f-word! To find out how swearing can assist your emotional and mental health check out this blog... http://kateburr.com.au/swearing-can-assist-your-emotional-/

13.01.2022 Last Friday at the Adelaide Oval we kicked off Mental Health Week at the Growing Hope Breakfast hosted by these 2 legends Bel Ryan and Bek Smith. Love your work ladies!! #mentalhealthweek #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth
11.01.2022 This week is Mental Health Week and it's a pretty significant week for me as I take time to reflect over my own mental health experience. (I lived with the symptoms of depression for almost 9 years before I got diagnosed... better late than never really!) Today I wanted to share a podcast interview that I had with the amazing Bel Ryan from Ignite Art Therapies. Her podcast is called Reignited and it's a series of curious conversations with people who have a powerful message f...or you. Based on her guest's experiences we get a little closer to the realities of life, how it has shaped them and what is their message they want to share with the world. It is real, curious, inspiring and full of discoveries that will help you reflect on your own life. In the episode I was in, I share a "Behind the Laughter" insight and the reality of life... things are not always what they seem.... (ooooh that sounds ominous doesn't it!) It's on all the podcast platforms including Apple, Listennotes, Podcastaddict, Backtracks etc... but I've included the link for Spotify below (partly because I think it's super cool that I am listed on Spotify!!) #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthweek https://open.spotify.com/episode/0ZpupUsny7WWkOppvTxgH6
