25.01.2022 TEMPORARY CLOSURE: To all of my customers waiting for your orders that were due to go out this week and next. My studio is closed, as are my firing services, and I am not able to send out any orders that were due for delivery this week and next week. We have entered a 5 day snap lockdown here in Victoria, due to the UK strain of COVID-19 looking to have entered our community. I’m sorry for the delays, I will adjust my schedule around the lockdown and get your orders to you as... soon as I can access the kilns and my studio again. I expect a 1-2 week delay at this stage. Join me Saturday, October 3rd, at 1pm EST to learn all about how I create my signature layered surfaces, using AMACO velvet underglazes. Follow the link in my bio for more info and to register. This will be a comprehensive overview of how I use coloured underglazes, newspaper transfers, and slip to create my signature surfaces. A recipe for my white slip will be included as part of this workshop. This workshop takes place virtually over zoom, and is hosted by Sonoma Ceramics staff. Participants will receive a recording of the workshop to watch at their convenience for two weeks after the workshop. A huge thank you to the excellent folks at @amacobrent for sponsoring me with materials for this virtual workshop, and also sponsoring a portion of the EQCLAY20 scholarships for this workshop. Quite often, and especially when I am making work with others, I hear quite a list of reasons people feel they are not very good at ceramics (or anything creative, really). These reasons also float around in my own head too. It's difficult, but possible to get the List Monsters to shush a bit, and let you get on with the important job of creative work. My approach comes from Keith Johnstone's Theat...resports - celebrating failure. Yep, actually CELEBRATE everything that goes wrong in creative practice (and beyond).
