24.01.2022 The Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year. It is a turning point, signifying the rebirth of the sun and the return of light. It is from darkness, that inspiration, strength and life eventually emerge. It is in darkness, that our inner light is lit. Let go of what is not needed anymore. Celebrate the power of faith, that your dreams and affirmations will come into manifestation.... On this day make a conscious effort to increase the amount of light, positive thoughts and love in and around you. #WinterSolstice #NewZealand #StolenQuote
24.01.2022 Missing awesome adventures and endless experiences #COVID19
24.01.2022 After walking the Light to Light recently, I farewelled my @salomon OUTline GTX hiking shoes, affectionately dubbed the "Phantoms" The super comfy trail shoe walked more than 500km of track (and off track) adventures, and served me well. With barely any remaining tread and a lingering, distinct aroma, it was time for the Phantoms to go!... I've been a @salomon fan since my first trek on the Milford Track nearly 9 years ago! For the time being I'm back in my @salomon X Ultra 3 Mid GTX, aka "Green With Envy". Finding the right shoes/boots can be a costly and tedicuius task, however your feet are what carry you through life, so I believe it's definitely worth the investment!
23.01.2022 The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, will point blank not like you. But it is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. They are your people. You are not for everyone and that’s OK. Talk to the people who can hear you. Don’t waste your precious time and gifts trying to convince them of your value, they won’t ever want what you’re selling. ... Don’t convince them to walk alongside you. You’ll be wasting both your time and theirs and will likely inflict unnecessary wounds, which will take precious time to heal. You are not for them and they are not for you; politely wave them on and continue along your way. Sharing your path with someone is a sacred gift; don’t cheapen it by rolling yours in the wrong direction. Keep facing your true north.
22.01.2022 "Sometimes, things don't go as planned. It's called life, and maybe life has other things in mind." Right now, I should be packing for a three-week expedition to Peru as a leader with Antipodeans. Due to COVID, plans changed and international adventures are unlikely in the foreseeable future.... Better things are coming, so in the meantime I'm reliving my trip to Nepal at the end of last year. Pretty hard to beat this dawn view from Poon Hill (3,210m)
22.01.2022 Living on the edge of Australia's West Coast pre-COVID! Looking forward to when all border restrictions are lifted so I can head back to WA and explore more of the insanely beautiful Cape to Cape Track. The trail runs for 123km between the lighthouses of Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin in the state's far south west.... From stunning coastal and forest scenery, to a fascinating geology of cliffs, caves, headlands and rock formations, this adventures has it all! Make sure you put it on your bucket list!
22.01.2022 Though poor and in trouble I wander alone, With rebel cockade in my hat, Though friends may desert me, and kindred disown, My country will never do that! You may sing of the Shamrock, the Thistle, the rose, ... Or the three in a bunch, if you will; But I know of a country that gathered all those, And I love the great land where the Waratah grows. And the Wattle-bough blooms on the hill. Australia! Australia! so fair to behold- While the blue sky is arching above; The stranger should never have need to be told, That the Wattle-bloom means that her heart is of gold. And the Waratah’s red with her love. Australia! Australia! most beautiful name, Most kindly and bountiful land; I would die every death that might save her from shame, If a black cloud should rise on the stand; But whatever the quarrel, whoever her foes, Let them come! Let them come when they will! Though the struggle be grim, ’tis Australia that knows That her children shall fight while the Waratah grows, And the Wattle blooms out on the hill. Waratah & Wattle - Henry Lawson
21.01.2022 Happy Birthday to the man who gave me my sense of adventure, passed on his passion for the outdoors and encouraged me to continually step out of my comfort zone! Can't believe it's been a year since we road-tripped it to Western Queensland to celebrate the big 7-0! What an incredible time camping out and hiking the trails of the remarkable Carnarvon Gorge! There's plenty more adventures to be had, and lots more life to live
20.01.2022 Keen for some non-work, off track hiking adventures with the crew this weekend in Marramarra NP
20.01.2022 This time last year - Kathmandu After a full day of traveling we arrived in the capital of Nepal. There were 14 students, 2 teacher and 1 Antipodeans leader - ME! There was no time to rest, we needed to squeeze in as much as we could before our journey to Chitwan.... Everything was new and exciting, and we were all running on the adrenaline that comes with being a tourist in a foreign country. We spent the day immersing ourselves in the spiritual and cultural attractions; temple hopping and feasting on momos. I was in awe of how this beautiful city evoked such an intense emotion within my soul as I wondered around bright-eyed and full of curiosity.
17.01.2022 "A big business starts small." Great ventures start from little beginnings and that's what I'm trying to do at the moment. Today I took those first steps on this journey; creating my business plan (not quite complete).... Not entirely sure where this will all end up, but what I do know is that only I can bring this dream to life #BespokeOutdoorAdventures
16.01.2022 Possibly my most favourite camp-site yet Six days escape down the South Coast of NSW and it's fair to say, it just wasn't long enough. The days were filled with sleepjng, hiking, paddle boarding, swimming and relaxing.... In these continued times of uncertainty, I'm grateful for the tiny taste of the outdoors once again. Walking the Light to Light was a highlight, despite the state of the trail post the fires 12 months ago. Unfortunately, the track is massively overgrown and the bush has been utterly devastated, changing the atmosphere and experience. More on that in another post, with many more pics to come
16.01.2022 You have to find that place that brings out the human in you ..... the soul in you ..... the love in you! Must be time to plan the next adventure
13.01.2022 Mountains & Wine ..... who could ask for anything more?
12.01.2022 Exploring new trails and discovering hidden treasures #TuesdayTrails #HalfMarathon #LegsAreCooked
12.01.2022 Of all the adventures we have been on together, this next one will surely be my favourite My amazing sister, and adventure buddy, is days away from becoming a mother We've hiked trails across Australia and New Zealand, road tripped up and down the East Coast, and made many memories along the way ... Can't wait to meet my niece, and needless to say, I'm already planning future adventures for the three of us @emma_lyons__
12.01.2022 Revelling in the calm before the storm on the off-track hiking adventure today
12.01.2022 It's been a long time coming, and this view was well worth the wait! Today was my first outdoor ed program in four months Absolutely loved being back on the trails, and off track, navigating through the Marramarra National Park. So grateful to be back in the outdoors with YouthAdvance Guides
09.01.2022 Planning some rad adventures Whether it's on trails on the water on the side of a cliff (And doing it all while drinking wine and dining fine ) There's something for everyone in the great outdoors ... Who's coming? @bespokeoutdooradventures #BespokeOutdoorAdventures
09.01.2022 This time last year - Poon Hill After trekking for six days in the Himalayas we summitted the 2874m peak at the crack of dawn. There is no denying this adventure was one of the highlights of my life. The experience was spiritual. Breathtaking. Awe inspiring.... This was not an achievement without its fair share of set backs. On our first attempt to reach Ghorepani we were forced to descend during a freak snow storm. We had been hiking for three days and were left with no other choice but to descend all the way back to our starting point ... in one day! Exhausted and disheartened, it took everything for us to dig deep and mentally drag ourselves through the next three days! As painful as I make this journey sound, I would not change a single thing. I loved every beautifully brutal step, relished in the stunning surrounds during each chilling day and was blown away by the strength and will of the kids who were with me for every moment of the trip! My heart and soul definitely felt home in Nepal thanks to the beauty of its people and the wonder of the landscape. Namaste
06.01.2022 Sometimes nature is all you need
05.01.2022 The clouds shifting through the Jamison Valley, at the weekend, reminded me of an old Persian adage that couldn't be more consoling or timely: " " We'll make our way through the dark depths of despair and uncertainty; and soon enough the sun will be shining once more.... Stay strong
02.01.2022 "If you watch how nature deals with adversity, continually renewing itself, you can't help but learn." Snapped this photo 12 months ago, south of Wattamolla, along the Coastal Walk. It was a year post the fire which was deliberately lit on January 20, 2018.... More than 2000 hectares, 20% of the park, burned and thousands of people were evacuated. Seeing the outdoors spring back to life after such hardship is a beautiful reminder that there can always be a new beginning.
01.01.2022 Thanks Dad for catching and removing all those spiders in Tupperware containers But mostly, thanks Dad for igniting the love and passion I have for hiking and nature More than ever today, I wish I could have whisked you away for an adventure in the outdoors! There is plenty more for us to do, so much more for us to see and tonnes more for us to explore! ... Happy Father's Day
