25.01.2022 "You are here to create peace within yourself and to allow those waves of calmness, love, forgiveness, and kindness to flow out into the world." Marianne Williamson A lovely little reminder for this Friday. Internal peace can really change the world....

25.01.2022 The more grateful I am, the more beauty I see - Mary Davis I stepped outside this morning and this quote came to me. I could hear a koala bellowing in the distance, I could see many birds busily going about their business, and I could feel the cool breeze after rain. It was beautiful, and so grounding. Life has throw some curve balls recently, as life sometimes does, and I remembered this morning, my reaction to those things is a choice.... It is easier is to find things to be grateful for - as there is always something. Nature has always been my grounding platform, my little church. A place that I can go to feel calm and be peaceful. So on top of many things - today I’m grateful for a morning wake up full of nature. I hope you find some magical things to be grateful for today

25.01.2022 Im really excited to announce that I have added training in the Life Enhancement Acupuncture Protocols (LEAP) method to my tool kit. Since Ive been a kinesiologist Ive wanted to learn this method as it deepens the balances and enhances the results. LEAP is a kinesiology technique which assists rewiring of the brain. The brain contains numerous areas which can become dysfunctional and cause learning challenges and difficulties. ... It works on the clients brain neurology to help them achieve access to their potential abilities. The focus of LEAP is to establish brain integration and the ability to maintain this under stress. LEAP works well with individuals affected by learning and behavioural difficulties, as well as offering a program for anyone wanting to achieve a calm and clear response to all aspects of life. Ive already been adding these techniques into my balances and am loving seeing the results.

24.01.2022 Empathy has many benefits for people. Firstly, it feels great to be heard and also to hear and connect with someone. The pleasure centers of the brain light up when we are empathically heard and understood and when we are connecting and hearing someone. It reduces stress and increases trust, personal growth and connection. Empathy in medicine is one of the most important parts of healing, yet it is so often missed. ... How often we might see a doctor or specialist and feel unheard, no real connection and are dismissed. This is the truth as it was for me, and I know many people I work with. People treated like a number waiting in line - these symptoms equals this medication - no connection, no listening, no understanding. This makes healing very difficult. Study after study show that when medical professionals align with empathy, medications work better and people start feeling better and getting positive results more quickly. As humans, empathy can be our super power. We can help people heal through the connection of empathy. Holding space for someone and allowing them time to address concerns and connect with their own experiences can be more powerful than any pill.

23.01.2022 Thank you all for being so patient during this time. I was really hopeful that in South Australia kinesiologists would be able to go back with remedial massage, however we have been advised we just have to wait a bit longer for face to face sessions. I dont think it will be much longer and Ill be in touch with all the people who had appointments cancelled shortly. Thank you also to those that have had Zoom sessions with me. These have been so successful and I really love st...ill getting some face to face time with you. Its a different, yet, really powerful way of conducting sessions. And thank you to those that have shared posts, clicked like and messaged support or shared my details during this time. I appreciate the kindness and effort supporting me in this little endeavour. I cannot wait to get back to my in person sessions soon. So stay tuned!

23.01.2022 How lovely is this? I was driving to work yesterday and decided to take a little detour - and came across this beautiful community garden that I never knew existed. This garden was overflowing with winter veggies and beautiful flowers. The garden had a lovely communal space for people to chat, share produce and just enjoy and get to know one another. What a magical space they have created here!... It reminds me of one of my favourite sayings about gardening by Jenny Uglow - We might think we are nurturing our garden, but really our garden is nurturing us. A community meeting place based on the peaceful meditation of gardening - perfect

23.01.2022 Why is Kinesiology such an effective management technique for childrens physical and emotional health? Normally, when children experience the ins and outs of daily life, the brain functions appropriately and the central nervous system is able to manage the level of load that is placed on their system. But due to many varying factors, such as emotional maturity, SID or special needs, when a traumatic experience happens, parts of the brain no long respond appropriately and ...the nervous system quickly becomes overloaded. When this happens the body initiates a fight or flight response. Physically the body then releases stress hormones that cause physiological symptoms and make decision making, learning and acceptable behaviour very difficult. It also means many children are living in a state of constant emotional hyper-arousal. Kinesiology can very quickly find the emotional triggers that caused this state and then the corrections the body needs to balance itself to the trigger. This takes the body out of fight or flight and helps the child remain calm, learn easier and better self manage behaviour. Best of all its stress free, drug free and kids leave feeling happy and grounded.

22.01.2022 This quote is perfect! As we start to come out of the peace of isolation and life returns to some sort of normal, maybe we try to hold some of the space of isolation. Less busy, more being.... Ive enjoyed being present with the family, and not just ships passing in the night on the way to more activities and places to be. Im enjoying less rushing around. My new goal going forward is just to be in each situation, keep life less cluttered and enjoy the present moment in the day. I hope you also got insight about how to move forward with more peace. Life doesnt have to go back to the way things were, we can make a change at any given moment.

22.01.2022 Guilt is an interesting emotion that we all experience from time to time. It allows us to see where we have stepped outside our core value system. It makes us take responsibility when weve done something we dont feel comfortable with and helps us to develop a greater sense of self-awareness. But it doesnt feel nice. And staying in it for any period of time is profoundly unhelpful. Maybe you have the chance to accept that you could have done things differently and you can r...ectify your behaviour and make changes in the future. But sometimes its not that easy. So sometimes its a matter of accepting no one is perfect, and forgiving ourselves to move forward. Forgiveness equals internal peace. And we all deserve that.

22.01.2022 Kinesiology is all about subconscious thought patterns. Consciously we are aware of things happening around us and how we respond. But we are usually unaware of our limiting subconscious beliefs. During a session the body is able bring up information, ages, thoughts, feelings and limiting beliefs we may have. Sometimes these things have created a subconscious pattern that is no longer working for us or that we don’t want to hold onto anymore. For example: ... - I don’t deserve love - I’m bad with money so I can’t have financial stability - Friends are untrustworthy and I don’t feel safe around them Limiting beliefs such as these mean we act in a way that these are true, causing less satisfaction in life. The new found awareness allows us to recognise where beliefs have not been helpful to us, and our conscious understanding means we have the capacity to make a change and resolve the belief system. Letting go of what we no longer need allows us a freedom to live our lives without fear.

21.01.2022 The thought or fear of conflict, confrontation or speaking our truth can at times be overwhelming and scary. Quite often we are not taught as children that it is safe to speak up or discuss what doesnt suit us. We probably dont even have the best models for calm and rational conversations in many of our parents, as those examples may not have been taught or modelled to them either. But learning to speak up, share your truth and be honest about your own feelings avoids a wor...ld of discomfort. Practice tuning into what you really want and how you feel and then gently, kindly and lovingly assert that to those around you. It is safe, you are worthy and you deserve to have your truth respected.

20.01.2022 The secret to a good morning is to watch a sunrise with an open heart Anthony T. Hincks And then the secret to a happy day is to keep it open for the rest of the day.... The more we open our hearts and come from a place of kindness and compassion, the more our own sense of personal well-being and purpose grows. Being able to cultivate a kind hearted approach to life actually puts the mind at ease and then the body releases calming hormones that make us feel good. Sounds good to me

19.01.2022 This is a great little chart that shows ways you can increase the feel good hormones in the body. Im all about personal empowerment, and these are some simple and proactive methods that really work. Enjoy the happy

19.01.2022 I really love plants. If I can’t be outside, I like them inside to enjoy the feelings that they bring to a room. This might be my most special. It’s a Hoya that grows huge, thick, waxy and perfect love heart shaped leaves. But it’s not just the way it looks that I love. It’s that each heart that I can cut off this plant, grows a root system and then starts producing more and more love hearts. So every time I think about that, it’s like a little metaphor for life. It’s hard not to marvel at the simplicity of nature and the lessons all around us

19.01.2022 The adventure is always worth jumping in. I know some of the best adventures I have ever been on have been jumping in with both feet and thinking later. It’s never about the outcome and always about the journey.

18.01.2022 What a perfect affirmation for today No matter what has happened in the past, today you have the choice to make a change, to accept some light in, and to keep on going forward.

18.01.2022 Im back! Kinesiologists are allowed to work face to face again. I am going to be working from a temporary room at North Adelaide for a few weeks until I can return to Abergeldie House. I will still be offering online sessions to those who continue to want them.... If you would like a session next week give me a ring and we can schedule something in. Look forward to working with you again soon!

17.01.2022 There is no question about it, the greatest growth happens through adversity. It might not feel it at the time, but by coming through adversity, we can connect with a change of perspective and learnings about ourselves. Adversity allows us to connect deeply with who we really are, provides soulful lessons about the world and creates a strong sense of resilience. The learnings from adversity provides the strongest platform for personal growth, finding our true selves and enhanced life appreciation.

16.01.2022 One of the things I love most about kinesiology is the profound realisations about self that happen during the balance. The balance is only ever the beginning. It helps us start to realise and recognise pattens and behaviours that we have adopted and continue to fall into that dont serve us, then the rest of the work happens after the balance. Changing patterns requires constant mindfulness. But it can be done, it simply requires choice and commitment. Some of the simple st...eps to take can be: Start small - there is no need to change everything all at once, Journal - its important to recognise where you need to change and reflect on behaviours and situations where you did well or where you fell back, Be clear on your motivations - why you want to change is your most motivating factor. Constantly remind yourself of these motivations (with loving kindness, there is no need to be harsh with yourself), Identify triggers and obstacles - be prepared and seek support during these times, Become aware of your self talk - make sure you catch it when it doesnt serve you, Use visualisations - to help create the change you want, Be kind - How many years did it take you to get to where you are? Change takes time. Be kind if you fall back, just keep on going. Change is possible and when we step out of the comfort zone it feels too good and there is no going back

16.01.2022 This is often a big one. I know it was for me, and is quite often for many other people. It took me many years to realise I could say no without justification and explanation. That I could say no just because I didnt want to, because it didnt suit me or because it wasnt my own personal priority. One of the things that helped me was being consciously aware that I could say no and learning how to recognise the feeling that something didnt feel right and the feeling that my... preferred response was no. I then started preparing myself with some set responses that I felt were fair and honest. These are particularly important to be ready with people who dont take no for an answer, and will continue to pester until they get the response they want (read: completely disrespecting your boundaries). Simple and direct answers can still be delivered kindly and respectfully: I appreciate you asking, but I cant commit to that right now, I want to, but Im unable to, I cant give you an answer right now, but Ill get back to you, Thanks for asking, but I cant help this time, Im going to say no for now, I will let you know if something changes. Being able to say no helps strengthen the healthy boundaries of that relationship and allows the other party clarity about what they can expect from you and how they can treat you and act around you in the future, and that is a healthy understanding for any relationship.

15.01.2022 Ive been enjoying a few days away with the family. As the kids grow, I love being able to connect with them in different ways and spend time away from our usual routines so we can all be present with one another. This time we have spent our break hiking the coast, whale spotting, and just catching up on what has been going on in each others lives in more than the usual detail. Its been so refreshing. And the great thing about the rain we have had the last few days - we have seen lots of these perfect rainbows

14.01.2022 I’ll went for a lovely walk in the hills, and found this sneaky little rainbow hovering in the meadow. Nature always offers us little surprises. We just have to take those moments and be present in them to notice them.

11.01.2022 Did you know Kinesiology can be claimed through NDIS? NDIS is a fantastic support for Australian people and families living with disability. NDIS provides individualised support to eligible people which does include kinesiology services. It is very important to know that if the disability plan is directly managed by NDIS, then services such as kinesiology and other alternative health worker support is not currently available.... However, if the participant chooses to Self Manage their fund, then kinesiology can be claimed, provided the practitioner links their kinesiology objectives with the NDIS plan. I simply ask families to bring a copy of their existing NDIS plan to the first appointment, then we work together to set up a Kinesiology plan that addresses the NDIS objectives, and any extra issues that come up. Kinesiology is an effective and supportive way to assist people living with disability and it is wonderful that NDIS is allowing people access to this modality.

11.01.2022 Our soul always knows best. Ive always felt we are born with a powerful and innate knowledge of where we are heading in life and what spiritual path we are destined to be on. Its like a calling, a knowing, a hope that you always had for yourself. Sometimes though, fears, programming, societal pressure get in the way and we doubt that feeling. When I was a teenager I was always interested in natural health, in a way that none of my friends were! I would see practitioners, fo...cus on clean and healthy living and always loved that industry. When it came to completing high school and going on to further studies, all I wanted to do was be a naturopath. I felt it in every part of me that it was a perfect choice. The thought of it made me feel happy. However, societal pressures 20 years ago meant I had little support. Even a career guidance councillor said it was a terrible choice and I needed to do something that gave me security and money. Not one person ever spoke to me about job satisfaction and happiness. So I went on, studied a business degree, got a secure job and felt very out of sorts in it. I had anxiety, I was bored, my job satisfaction was next to nothing. Fast forward to now, and Ive this time listened to my inner self. The voice was quiet and told me to take a leap of faith - and it paid off, I enjoy my work and it leaves me happy at the end of the day. I took the long and windy path, but I did get there. Sometimes the best thing in life is to really check in with ourselves. Is this your soul knowledge or is this the voice of conditioning or fear? Listening and learning the different between the two is so freeing.

10.01.2022 This is a really good reminder, that no matter how things are going, you have never had a single day that you havent made it through. Today, no matter how difficult it may be, is another day that you will make it through. Just like all the days before hand. And tomorrow you will be greeted with relief, satisfaction, acceptance or learning of another challenge or obstacle in life you lived and learned from. ... You are doing better than you think.

10.01.2022 Just being able to go with the flow is peace in itself. Trying to hold onto people, experiences and jobs that we know arent serving us any longer, just creates resistance. Emotional resistance creates physical pain in the body. So let go of what no longer serves you and wait for the magic of what or who is coming into your life next.

10.01.2022 Thanks to those who have booked sessions with me next week at my temporary room in North Adelaide. I can promise you will feel calm and relaxed in this new location. It is very quiet with off street parking available right behind the building. Anyone still wanting a session, I have 2 slots left next Friday at 10:30am and 12pm. So if you want to book in to one of these spots, get in touch with me today.... Cant wait to see you all next week

10.01.2022 Thank you and welcome to all the new followers that have recently joined. I wanted to introduce myself to you and share my story about why I became a kinesiologist and interested in alternative therapy. I had always been a migraine sufferer. I got my first migraine when I was 14. They continued through my teens and twenties, however, they would only ever last a few hours and I would never get more than four per year. So they were easy enough to manage, annoying, but not too b...ad. After the birth of my second child my health took a nose dive. For a period of 2 years, I had migraines for between 60-80% of each month, and every other day I had a dull, relentless ache in my head. I lived on pain killers and migraine preventers and even then was unable to have much quality of life. I wouldnt travel or go out for the fear of a migraine in a public place or on the plane was just too much. The frustrating thing for me was I would see every specialist, neurologist or doctor with an interest in migraines to help me, but nothing seemed to work. That was when I reached rock bottom. I really had nothing else to lose - so on suggestion by a friend I tried kinesiology. I expected it not to work, like everything else I had tried (and I had tried everything!). To my surprise, after my first balance I felt completely different. It was the strangest experience, as migraines had been part of me for so long that I could always feel the exact location they resided, and yet after that balance I could not feel them anymore. No dull ache, no aura, no blurred vision, nothing. I still expected them to come back, week after week, just waiting for them, but they didnt return. I did struggle with headaches for a few more months, but it was nothing in comparison to what I had. And after a number more session of kinesiology I noticed the headaches were helped too. I didnt understand. How was it even possible that neurologists with years of study and specialisation that I paid $300 for 15 minute visits couldnt help me, yet kinesiology did? Within 3 months of first having a kinesiology session I had enrolled in the course. I wanted to understand just how it helped. Do I entirely understand the exact reason that my migraines got so bad and how they went away? Not exactly. But doctors dont understand the exact reason that medicines work for some and not others. Maybe we arent supposed to understand everything. But what I know is that since discovering kinesiology, and working with my clients to give back to the modality that saved my life, I have found health and happiness like I never knew existed.

09.01.2022 Animals kiss and hug because they have feelings. They know love. Anthony Douglas Williams It’s no secret, I have a love and affinity with animals. Most kind hearted and highly sensitive people do. ... These two have been visiting for a few months. They spend their days hanging in the gum tree nearby or sitting on the verandah (or my chairs!). They are a bonded pair and I enjoy watching how they interact with each other. They have such gentleness when they talk to each other, they feed each other, groom and cuddle up together. Their interactions with each other are so similar to people who care about one another. I always find it refreshing to know that animals understand the language of love, it isn’t something saved just for humans. Science may not be able to prove it yet (and probably never will), but there is no doubt in my mind that there is a self and a soul behind all animals eyes.

09.01.2022 With spring just moments away and the weather starting the change, we all get the enjoyment of blossoms budding and flowers preparing to open. What isnt to enjoy about the beauty nature gifts us. The stunning appearance and smells of flowers puts us into a state of appreciation and appreciation is good for our hearts. It brings our heart rhythms into coherence. Flowers also allow mini mindfulness sessions, and for those moments the body enters a state of homeostasis - stress... and worry can be forgotten and concerns fade away. All the more reason to consciously stop and smell the roses.

08.01.2022 Ill be back at the lovely Abergeldie House next week. I cant wait to be working from there again! Ill be there for a 2 week block so if you want an appointment just let me know

07.01.2022 Looks like its going to be a lucky day Nothing beats this winter sun, its perfect weather to enjoy some nature time. I hope you have a happy and lucky Sunday....

07.01.2022 This is a bit of a long one, but a powerful and worthwhile read. It is always worth checking in with which chapter you are on, because you don't have to stay there. You can head straight on over to Chapter 5 and walk down another street at any time. Chapter 1... I walk down the street, There is a deep hole in the sidewalk, I fall in, I am lost, I am helpless, It isn't my fault, It takes me forever to find a way out. Chapter 2 I walk down the same street, There is a deep hole in the sidewalk, I pretend I don't see it, I fall in again, I can't believe I am in the same place but, it isn't my fault, It still takes a long time to get out. Chapter 3 I walk down the same street, There is a deep hole in the sidewalk, I see it is there, I still fall in, it's a habit, My eyes are open, I know where I am, It is my fault, I get out immediately. Chapter 4 I walk down the same street, There is a deep hole in the sidewalk, I walk around it. Chapter 5 I walk down another street. By Portia Nelson

07.01.2022 The last of my late blooming roses are enjoying the replenishment of the lovely rain. Nature is always providing a gentle reminder for ourselves to tune in to what we need. What do you need to be replenished today? Do you need time out, a beach walk, yoga or a cup of tea with family or friends? Then listen to your body and it’s needs and make a little time to give it what it needs this weekend.... Happy Saturday

05.01.2022 I was very excited to be given this book recently. Kindness has always been one of my favourite attributes. Its such a simple concept, choose to be kind. I was a sensitive and gentle child, I spent my days roaming around outside picking up baby birds that fell out of nests and bringing home lost and abandoned animals. And even at a young age, I always knew something - kindness is a choice the human race makes.... It wasnt until I was older that I understood that kindness is not just something that we give to other people and animals, it is something we need to give to ourselves on a daily basis. I learned we owe it to ourselves to be kind to us, even before we give that kindness back to the world. So on this beautiful sunny day, do something kind for you. Before the endless to do lists, family commitments and serving other people, get in touch with yourself and what you need - and choose kindness.

03.01.2022 This morning I went on my usual hike. I was walking up a fairly tight track with a few others when it started to rain. The rain turned to POURING very quickly. There was nowhere for shelter so we were just in it. In a matter of seconds we all started to laugh and comment on how fun it was being stuck out together in the pouring rain. Our laughter brought out a childlike joy in everyone and a feeling that we were all just friends. There was no separation, we were experiencing ...something beautiful together. On my way back I felt amazing from the energy we all shared, but I started to wonder why as people we don’t experience that level of childlike joy more often. It’s so different to happy, and so powerfully healing. I realised we experienced that because we were all only in that moment - the rain insisted we weren’t thinking about our days to do list, what email our boss left us last night or something else troublesome that steals our thoughts. We were just there, with the sensation of the rain, experiencing something wonderful. Pure childlike joy requires mindfulness. And we have to allow ourselves to be completely present in a space to experience that.

02.01.2022 I discovered Louise Hay when I was 16 years old. Her book You can Heal your Life was my first introduction to personal empowerment - before her, I’d never considered we were all 100% in charge of our own lives and our life experiences. She is still such an important part of my daily ritual. I often have her audio book on with her calming affirmations in the mornings as we are getting ready for school and work. I always find everyone feels happy and peaceful on Louise Hay mornings. I’m a big believer on setting our own tone for the day, and consciously being ready for the day ahead. It can mean the difference between a good and a great day

02.01.2022 This requires mindfulness and self reflection. Simply checking in with yourself in a calm way can help you assess your boundaries and where you sit on issues when people want something or require help. Do I want to do this?... What makes me happy? Why do I feel like I need to agree or help? What is the fear of saying no? Is this my responsibility, or theirs? So many of us have patterns of people pleasing, and there lies the start of boundary issues! Its perfectly ok to be a kind and loving earth angel who wants to help - as long as you check in with yourself, your motivation and the fear of what would happen if you did say no. Love and altruism is what the world needs right now, but keep those boundaries firmly in check

02.01.2022 Sometimes the hardest part is finding the awareness that something is not ok in our lives. Avoiding the awareness is a protection technique because the second part of healing - vulnerability can be so difficult and often overwhelming for people. But if we allow ourselves to go there - by examining what isn’t working in our lives, what trigger us, what is playing on repeat, then the vulnerability part can feel like freedom. Not having to be ok, not having to pretend, no longer... having to experience those feelings any longer. It can be a relief. One of the things I love most about kinesiology, is that it can bring the parts that need to be healed to the surface, helping us understand where we need to make changes and how to go about those. The body has and in built wisdom that always knows what we need. The vulnerability then becomes easy when we are supported in a heart centred and unconditional way.

01.01.2022 There are so many little miracles in life to experience. Recently with my kids we have been witnessing the caterpillar / butterfly transformation. Something that never gets less breathtaking even as I get older, in fact, I think I appreciate this metamorphosis even more as I understand the significance of what is undertaken. These tiny miracles that live their lives around us on a daily basis are reminders of the power of the human spirit to transform itself. In a moment peo...ple can heal themselves from grief, hardship and trauma. Change is just part of nature, its built into us, it is something that we are designed to do. We can let go and grow our own wings through the process of surrender. The caterpillar has no idea what is about to happen when it forms a cocoon, it seems its life is at an end. Yet the emergence of something miraculous after this tiny act of surrendering, is perhaps the most beautiful reminder we have, that surrender is not the end, its only ever just the beginning.

01.01.2022 Regardless of your faith, Christianity and the Pagan religions before it - saw this time of year as a time of hope, renewal and new beginnings. The collective energy of people around the world celebrating the start of new things is a beautiful one. We all deserve a clean slate and the chance to move towards new things that mean something to us. I wish you, your families and loved ones a happy Easter. May you all feel the magic of new beginnings and the hope that comes with that
