23.01.2022 My skill & determination as a helicopter pilot led to being selected for a four and a half year posting to the Royal Navy, UK. There, I flew as part of Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) who fly in support of the Royal Marine Commandos.

Im here to cut through the noise and tell you this - just because you can have it all, but that doesnt mean you should, and it definitely doesnt mean all at once. Be your own version of success, and take the time to enjoy it.

As a female leader, it is important to embrace our natural instincts and remember that they are in fact a benefit, rather than a curse.

17.01.2022 There has long been a certain assumption attached to a leadership role, across all industries, roles and organisations. That assumption being; it is a role that is predominantly held by a male. The statistics are also there to prove it. Having worked in a leadership role that is affiliated with a male dominated industry, it is true that I have seen it all - Ive heard it all too. Shifting this assumption, this accepted way of thinking, to ensure that my role as a female leader is equally respected has become a priority of mine.

14.01.2022 Knowing when to lead and when to follow is vital to the concept of teamwork. Followership amongst a strong team does not always mean taking direction. It means that you play your role, and understand when you should or should not speak up. Its taking on the advice of a mentor, the knowledge of a junior or the words of a senior and combining these ideas to develop your role into the best that it can be.

If everything you do is underpinned by the desire to treat others with respect, no one can take your successes away from you.
10.01.2022 To overcome adversity and achieve a common goal, it is important to base your decision making on the best interests of both yourself, with the mission/goal as a focus, and those around you. This is something that I learnt while making some serious decisions about team members and whether they should be on the flight away on operations, or back at home. In every instance, I had to holistically consider what was best for the team.

It can be hard to become the follower, especially if you see yourself as a leader. But that's the whole idea - to see beyond the role you may have previously envisioned for yourself, to instead focus on what can be achieved with your collective efforts.
