24.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there !!!

22.01.2022 Wilsonton Centre: This week is the dental health week, Children in our Crickets room created their own dental bed using the pillows. We discussed how we have baby teeth and adult teeth which prompted ideas of 'where are the adult teeth?', therefore, we resourced dental X-rays to examine and investigate. We looked at a procedure that visually displays how we brush our teeth. The Cricket children suggested bringing in their toothbrushes to show each other how they brush their teeth. They practice on the teeth resources with toothbrushes. We observed various techniques and noticed the circle motions are more effective over general scrubbing all over.

21.01.2022 Wilsonton Centre: Talk like a pirate day is on the 19th of September, therefore, we will hold it on Friday the 18th. This cause supports families affected by Childhood Cancer and we would love if we work together in partnerships to raise funds for this cause. You can donate on the day (gold coin or amount your choosing) or beforehand if you wish. We will be providing pirate themed experiences for your children and we welcome pirate dress ups for the day! http://www.talklikeapirateday.com.au/users/lauren-ray

21.01.2022 City Centre's Experiment Time!!! This experiment shows how clouds hold invisible water vapors that turn into rain when the warm and cool air condenses the water vapors into rain. The shaving cream clouds represent the clouds and how they can hold the water vapors for so long, until the cloud becomes heavy and drops the water rain. Children responded really well to this experiment and demonstrated dispositions for learning such as excitement and enthusiasm as they watched the colored food dye slowly sink through the shaving foam into the water and swirl around.

18.01.2022 Pittsworth Centre: Today we did some flower paintings. This ties in with our emerging theme of looking at nature as the Possum children were interested in looking at a tiny little bird egg Miss Tyla had found yesterday. The Possum children did a wonderful job with using scissors to cut the flowers out of the bushes. We also added an additional learning element by counting how many flowers we collectively gathered. The Possum children selected the colours they wished to use: blue, red, purple, pink and yellow. Then they dabbed the flower into the paint and placed it on their paper creating an imprint of the flower on their pages. All of the children create beautiful works of art with their paintings!

17.01.2022 City Centre: From last week " Jeans for Genes Day 2020 This national event supports Children's Medical Research Institute and helps find cures for children's genetic diseases. Today children built a sense of belonging to groups and the community while engaging with people and processed materials as they acknowledged promoted Jeans for Genes day. Educator provided children with a pair of white jeans and children demonstrated dispositions for learning such as enthusiasm as they each got their hand painted and left their hand print on the jeans."

17.01.2022 Today, Friday 7 August is Jeans for Genes Day. 1 in 20 children is born with a birth defect or genetic disease. Jeans for Genes is about finding cures for sick ...kids and supporting the Children's Medical Research Institute. We would love to see how you show your support for Jeans for Genes day. 13.01.2022 6th of September 2020, Kate's Place has turned 27 Years, Happy Birthday Kate's Place !!!

10.01.2022 Every interaction with another person represents an opportunity to connect or disconnect. #Connections build positive #relationships, which are the foundation f...or all types of learning and growth, but particularly for social emotional #development. Irrespective of the situation or type of interaction, we can work on building connections by focusing on meeting what Dr. Gerald Newmark calls the 5 critical needs of children (and parents too)! They need to feel: - respected; - important; - accepted; included; and - secure. https://emotionallyhealthychildren.wordpress.com//do-you-/ #neurochild #humanity #collectiveindividualism

09.01.2022 Newtown Centre- The garden in the Cockatoo playground has been growing beautifully and is ready to harvest. Mr Alex (our centre chef) and the children helped to pick the lettuce leaves for the kitchen. It has been amazing watching the plants grow from a tiny tiny seedling to be something so big and beautiful.

05.01.2022 "#Observe and #listen to children because when they ask "why?" they are not simply asking for the answer from you. They are requesting the #courage to find a collection of possible answers." -Loris Malaguzzi #neurochild #observe #reggioemilia #reggioemiliainspired

04.01.2022 City Centre: On the bus ride back to Kate's Place, One child stated " I love Kate's Place". Educator extended by providing children with a group hand painting experience to make a decorated canvas art for the schoolies room. As each child took a turn getting their hand painted they expressed how the paint felt on their hand and enjoyed comparing their own hand size to that of their friends. This experience provided the group with a sense of unity and togetherness and to which they can look at the created canvas and point out their own hand print and the picture they made together as a group.

03.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educators' Day to all the amazing Educators out there !!!

03.01.2022 City Centre: Extending on our National Science Week learning, today we created our very own volcano using sand, bi-carb soda, vinegar and food dye. Educator Siobhan constructed the volcano using the sand and created a small funnel in the sand. In the funnel, bi-carb and food dye was poured down the middle. We then poured vinegar into the funnel and observed the reaction that the ingredients created. "WOAH!" the children exclaimed excitedly. "Can you hear it fizzing" Educator Siobhan pointed out. Some of the children leaned forwards to explore the texture of the bubbles and sand and popped the bubbles with their fingers. "Look what happened to the sand!" Siobhan pointed out to the children. "Bubbles" Children replied. "The bubbles have made holes in the sand" Siobhan added to the conversation. Children loved this fun activity.
