04.01.2022 Every year, millions of salmon carry out one of the greatest animal migrations on earth. Using a running stitch on antique linen, I have traced the path of Salmon migration along a simplified map of Eastern Canada. The wild Atlantic salmon’s path is bold and energetic (first panel), contrasting with the pale, landlocked paths of farmed fish whose migration is guided via human intervention toward a single direction: the dinner plate (this picture). This is the second part of t...he pair of embroideries that was created in response to my artist in residence experience in the Highlands of Cape Breton in 2019.
