25.01.2022 Busy week so far for Miss Jade and the Transition to Work Senior girls class. On Wednesday they visited Banatjarl Wimuns Group and today they resumed their art sessions with Headspace and KRA. The message at both sessions is about mental health and healing but this week it has a special resonance as we acknowledge RUOK day.



23.01.2022 We want to thank the community for supporting our book sale. Due to limited stock, we have decided to end the sale today. We also want to thank the local businesses that have supplied packing boxes to assist our move. Your help is very much appreciated.

23.01.2022 Senior Years Some Year 12 subjects include external examinations as part of their assessment schedule. In preparation for this, trial exams will be held in Week 2, with actual exams commencing in Week 4. 23.01.2022 KFLEC have partnered with DRV4LYF to help our young people get their L's. We have the privilege of hiring their driving simulator and getting practice our driving skills before heading out on the roads.Thank you Chris and Pam for making our roads safer!



21.01.2022 Outstanding work in Cert I Bakery today! Trainer Bill Denniss has the students soaking their bran, proving their dough and shaping delicious pull aparts and loaves. VET in Secondary Schools in on all this week and next- I will post some more photos on my next visit to the Health and Community Services, Rural Ops, Welding and Auto crews!

At just 16 years of age, Gypsy performed her own song '2am' and impressed the judges with her talent.... She attends Katherine High School and mother Samantha Phelan says she has benefited greatly from a newly developed music program at the school."



18.01.2022 On Tuesday we celebrated Fairy Bread Day with our Transition to Work A and Pathways Girls making fairy bread and milkshakes to raise money for Reach. Out.com - a supporter of young people with well being issues. We raised $200 to help their cause. Well done

16.01.2022 Big thank you to the leaving SLC members: Silvana, Jaimie, Teri, Jack, Georgie, Charlotte and Madi who led students’ voice in KHS through an incredibly complicated year. You did an amazing work and made the school proud! Also a big welcome to the new SLC members who are starting term 4 2020: Kumi, Libby, Angus, Dang, Sam, Jim, Hayden and Rholyzza. The school has great faith in your abilities and can’t wait to see the improvements you will bring to KHS. There’s a lot to wait for 2021, so stay tuned.

15.01.2022 Katherine High School will be down at the Katherine Club (Formerly the RSL) tonight selling raffle tickets. Come on down and grab some dinner and buy some tickets to help the us fundraise for the school.

13.01.2022 Drama 7.3 In Drama, 7.3 have been working towards completing the final stage of their assessment task based on ‘Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.’ They have shown incredible persistence throughout this process and it has been lovely to witness their confidence grow across the term. We are super excited to go out with a bang and look forward to seeing their final performance next week. Go 7.3 go!!! :)

12.01.2022 In Week 7 KFLEC went to Nitmiluk Gorge for a 2 day camp. We participated in such activities as mountain biking, canoeing, slack lining, swimming in the pool, toasting marshmallows by the fire and even an outdoor cinema! It was so much fun!

11.01.2022 In week 6 SLC ran an initiative to reward attendance. It was a HUGE success and resulted in a 4% increase in attendance for the week. Check out our WINNERS!

09.01.2022 Attention Year 7, 2021 families! We would like to welcome you all to our information evening which will be held this Wednesday in the Katherine High School staffroom. Please come along to enjoy some yummy snacks catered by our Stage 1 & 2 students, meet some of our amazing staff and get a feel for what KHS has to offer. Please make your way to the administration office at 5:15 for a 5:30 start.... We look forward to seeing you all there!

09.01.2022 In Week 8, eight Year 10 students travelled to Darwin for a three day introduction to CDU. Many of these students applied for the CDU Team Aspire Program that will see them supported by experienced mentors as they embark on their final two years of secondary school. The program provides the successful students with support, both financial and academic, access to CDU facilities and, if they decide to attend CDU after high school, up to $10,000 for fees and living expenses. Congratulations Alena Goldbach-Eggert, Ashley Allison, Ben Williams, Bianca Talty, Brooke Campbell, Jarod Silk, Syriah Martin-Idai and Yemi Abioye. We were also joined on the camp by Shakira Babilondo and Kiersten Courtney who displayed great engagement and energy over the three days. Anna Benson - Careers Coordinator

08.01.2022 Our wonderful Cert II Construction students have now finished their two year qualification. Their last project was a concrete path through our newly landscaped garden. Job well done everybody!

07.01.2022 Out and about visiting the KHS students participating in the VSS program today with my side kick and chauffeur Sandy Talbot. Beautiful horses and riders in the sunshine showing off their trot and canter skills, superior welding skills in almost full body armour ( Peter Williams), community health discussion and of course afternoon tea in the kitchen with the Bakery students who were finishing off their knotted breads, Viennese biscuits and jam drops! The atmosphere in each of the areas was relaxed and skill learning was evident as each student showed us their handiwork. Well done and thank you for letting us visit.

02.01.2022 Corrugated Iron Circus comes to KFLEC In week 9, we welcomed Corrugated Iron Circus to our space. They taught us how to juggle, crack whips, hula hoop, ride a unicycle, swallow swords nah gammon! :)
