25.01.2022 One of the topics that has been spoken about recently is hard rubbish collection. And, if you've been in a town where it happens, you'll know that hard rubbish collection days mean heaps of people driving around seeing what trash they can turn into treasure! So, while we don't have hard rubbish collection here - perhaps this is a good start for us all to put out the stuff we no longer want, that someone else just might need - and make a bit of $$ along the way?!

25.01.2022 Please share this amongst your local communities so the voting process is as inclusive as possible. Thankyou.

24.01.2022 ITS THE BENDIGO VIBE OF THE THING I will advocate for equitable distribution of resources throughout the entire municipality, not just in the inner city. Our urban and rural towns also need the opportunity to prosper. The "Bendigo Vibe" is the all encompassing term I am using to describe the brilliant uniqueness that is Greater Bendigo. It is our arts, our food, innovation, high quality recreational facilities, access to services, parkland, bushland, bike trails, the arch...itecture, the sense of community, our history - altogether it is the Bendigo Vibe! The importance of this has never been greater given our current COVID-19 experience.

24.01.2022 Quick(ish) video update from my campaign trail. Authorised by Kathryn Stanislawski, PO Box 348, Huntly, Vic, 3551.

22.01.2022 ENGAGE AND DELIVER Focus on improved engagement with the community when consulting and communicating during decision making. Plus, there are a plethora of strategies and initiatives that Council has developed many which have great intent, many overlap, and many are incomplete or coming to the end of their time-frame - now it is time to engage with the community, establish key priorities and deliver outcomes.

18.01.2022 SPIN OR SUBSTANCE? It's great that candidates are getting opportunities like this one from The Ironbark Gully Friends. I encourage you to review the answers supplied by each of us, then ask yourself which candidates did more than just generally [blindly] 'support' the project? Who actually: ... 1. Demonstrated that they understood the holistic value of the project (ie. to the community, environmental etc.)? 2. Took the time to understand the project as well as the challenges faced by the group? 3. Demonstrated that they have the skills to have a conversation AS WELL AS understand any issues, and review and understand this kind of material? 4. Used the information available to identify opportunities to support the group to achieve their goals? 5. Answered the question "As an elected Councillor HOW will you support the implementation of the Ironbark Gully Public Space Concept Plan?" The answers will enable you to determine who responded to "appease" with something that seems a bit like "spin"; and who really demonstrated their capability for the role? What type of person do you want in your Council? Spin or Substance? #Vote1KathrynForCouncil #workingforwhipstick #MakingTheCampaignCount

18.01.2022 A WORTHWHILE WATCH Last night, Bendigo Sustainability Group - BSG, Bike Bendigo and the Commoners Co-Op, co-hosted a forum to ask candidates about their position on a number of issues regarding sustainability. It's a long forum, but certainly worthwhile - even if you just watch the first round of responses, or even better, skip to the end (at around 1hr 27min) where the responses are off-the-cuff (rather than pre-prepared as per the first two) from questions from the audienc...e. Even if sustainability isn't your thing, put that aside and take it as an opportunity to see how the candidates perform and demonstrate their understanding of the role of council. It has certainly helped me form my vote, and a little differently to what I initially thought I would do. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=638947156985553 #Vote1KathrynforCouncil #WorkingForWhipstick #GreaterBendigo

17.01.2022 Come see what sets Kathryn above the rest!!!!

15.01.2022 SUSTAINABILITY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS I will always be a strong voice in support of sustainable practices that will lead to the long-term health and prosperity of all. I am passionate about the delivery of projects that will create positive environmental change and support communities and individuals to live a more sustainable lifestyle. ... Attracting innovative business investment into the use of renewables will support our economy and lead the transition to a lower carbon society. Embracing a "living local" lifestyle, reducing fueled travel and getting more active will improve our overall wellbeing. Altogether this is critical for the next generation so as we maintain our diverse employment sector, protect our environment, and retain a high standard of living.

13.01.2022 CONNECTING WITH NATURE We totally love living so close to the beautiful Bendigo bush. We've been taking regular walks recently to watch the colours change as the different winter-spring flowers come and go. Did you know that the Greater Bendigo Environment Strategy has the following goals? ... - More people using natural places to support their physical and mental health and wellbeing. - A community that shares knowledge and experience of nature to sustain future generations. I hope the vibrant colours of this native pea encourage you to get out, tread lightly and explore the beauty on our doorstep. Need more inspiration? 11.01.2022 W H Y Y O U S H O U L D : 1 VOTE 1: KATHRYN FOR COUNCIL 1 Just like my fellow candidates I've done the mandatory training, nominated, and put up campaign signs. But instead of a photo of me doing those things, I'm going to take a different path. ... I'VE PULLED TOGETHER MY CANDIDATE RESUMESO YOU KNOW SOME IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT ME, THAT WILL HELP ME BE A GOOD COUNCILLOR. #vote1kathrynforcouncil #engageanddeliver #greaterbendigo

09.01.2022 CALLING IT OUT "Just ignore it". "It won't make it any better". "You should just expect this type of thing is going to happen". I'm not so sure about that. I think we need to shift this thinking and show respect for ourselves and others. If we don't call out bad behaviour, maybe we are saying it's ok? ... Consider how you would feel if someone put up posts about you or your friends and family this way? If it were your son or daughter, having people treat them like this - what advice would you give them? Would you stand up for them? Or would you add in your 2 cents worth? How would you feel if you heard your mum, or your grandma, speak to someone like that? When I read these as individual comments, I can laugh them off - they are nothing. But this is 10 people taking aim - 10 people who clearly dont know me, but are posting on a site that I cannot comment on. Here are the takeaway messages these 10 people of a group would have you believe: - "Can't hold down a job" so "looking for another [Councillor] job". - "Lacks genuine formal qualifications and experience". - "Likes to complain". - "Constant study at uni". - "Greenie marxist". - "HER values" - "Kinder committee haha" - "Whoops, almost stepped on some sh*t" [with a Greens logo]. - "Isn't she the dumb feminist who ..." [deliberately not repeating the rest]. - "Another green stooge". - "Another radical trying to ... push their agenda". - "She removed my post..." However, if any of these people would have respectfully asked me about my capacity as a Councillor, I would have said: - I am not affiliated with the Greens though I strongly believe there is action that must be taken to improve the way we manage the resources of our planet for the longer term. - I have a Degree in Applied Science and have been employed consistently since I completed Uni at the age of 21, and have a well established 15 year + career and am respected in my field. - Prior to this I had a job like most teens do in a supermarket. - I have proudly been on the kinder and school committee's and been really successful obtaining grants for new playground equipment, getting new footpaths built so the our children can be safer in our community and other things - these aren't achievements to be laughed at, they are valued by my community. - I will live by my values, something we all should do. My values are based on kindness and assistance to others. - I did remove all your posts, but not because you called me Green, but because of the hateful way you spoke of me and another candidate in a different post (which, unlike the 'Green' one which wasn't included in a screen shot). Being kind, talking with respect to others, and standing tall feels so much nicer and leads to a much happier life.

08.01.2022 Very well said Anthony Radford. My experience with many of my fellow candidates has been very positive - we have similarities and differences - but we have been respectful, and supportive of the process and of each other when we have received nasty comments on social media. This is much more likely to facilitate an effective working environment, and that will achieve much better outcomes for the benefit of all.

08.01.2022 E-Scooters. Safe, Fun, Fast, Easy, and did I say Fun?!! Bike Bendigo had a post about e-scooters so I thought I'd share my experience about their use and effectiveness. When my sister and I visited Poland last year, we used them around Warsaw for a few days. They were so convenient and honestly so simple to use. ... How they worked: There were a few companies that managed different coloured ones. Each with its own app which you downloaded, linked your credit card, then scanned the QR code on the scooter you were going to use. Once it accepted your payment, the scooter 'unlocked' and you could use it. They were GPS tracked, and could only be used within a certain radius (or they would stop working), and when the batteries ran low, the company located them and replaced them with charged ones. You could scoot on footpaths, through parks etc - anywhere pedestrians could go, with a few exceptions. When you were finished with it, or going inside somewhere, you could leave them either in specific bays or, pretty much anywhere that wasn't on a road or middle of the footpath so they weren't in the way. Catch was, as soon as you left it and logged off to stop paying, someone else could take it. So you might finish your cuppa and cake and come out to find the scooter gone. This didn't happen to us, and there always seemed to be another one not too far away anyway. Applicability for Bendigo? Within 10 minute neighbourhoods they would be perfect (though not helping you get exercise!). Residents who who live within the central city, and possibly out to Golden Square or White Hills could get great value out of them; and maybe tourists or workers who travel by train who need to commute within the city centre could also use them too? It would be a great and novel package deal to come by train to Bendigo, grab a scooter and head to a restaurant, then scoot to the gallery or theatre and back to the train. You could feasibly include cafe's that are in the urban townships too so we don't focus everything in the city centre. Warsaw was flat, I'm not sure how they go on hills - might drain battery quickly. Catch is: They need to be respected for a business to feasibly make the investment. I am well aware of the City of Melbourne dilemma where many bikes ended up in the Yarra - really disappointing. We saw absolutely no evidence of that kind of thing where we used them, and they were well used by tourists and locals in business suits. They weren't a novelty*, they were just there, being used as they should be. *They were a novelty for my sister and I!!! I will post evidence of our skills on my website for a giggle! www.kathrynstanislawski.com #reducingtraffic #greenertravel

07.01.2022 THOSE WHITE LAMINATED SIGNS THAT POP UP ON FENCES AND POSTS One of the queries that has come my way a few times throughout my campaign has been around planning applications: how you find out about new developments, and what you can do if you’ve got any concerns. Firstly, before even waiting for planning applications, you can investigate the zoning at any time. All land parcels are zoned to allow for a particular use, and many have overlays that describe other cond...Continue reading

06.01.2022 SO, WHAT’S YOUR ACTUAL JOB? Admittedly yes, ‘Project Manager’ is really a broad, not-so-specific job description so it’s a very fair question. But it does represent most clearly what I do generally - plan projects, deliver them, and measure the outcomes. The field I work in is Natural Resource Management, with a focus on wetland ecology, and I’ve been doing this since around 2004 and I absolutely love my job. Project management describes the planning we have done t...o build structures that enable delivery of water to wetlands, then annual planning and coordinating of the water delivery, and the management of contracts to engage specialists (like botanists and fish ecologists) to measure the response to the water delivery. I love my job because I have had direct involvement in making sure the plants and animals that rely on wetlands have what they need. I have stood in a dry wetland and watched the water trickle towards me, I read a lot of scientific reports, I have waded through wetlands to count nests and eggs of waterbirds, I have taken school groups on wetland tours, I have done media training, I have spoken with communities about large scale infrastructure projects, done heaps of presentations to Boards, Community groups, and at science forums, I have spent hours physically pulling carp out of a wetland to protect the vegetation growing there, I run lots of meetings, advocated for funding to start up new projects, and I have even contributed to a published scientific paper about Murray cod. My job has been lots of things, so Project Manager kind of seems the easiest way to sum it all up. I’ve added some of my career highlights on my website, so you can check them out here: www.kathrynstanislawski.com SO HOW WOULD THIS HELP ME BE A GOOD COUNCILLOR? My skills are diverse, my knowledge of the way all levels of government interact and the way it operates comes from real experience; I am highly organised; I am great at looking through lots of information, understanding it and communicating it; I am passionate and deliberate in my actions and I genuinely care about the world, people, and our environment. When you get your ballot pack, you can confidently Vote #1 - Kathryn Stanislawski for Council. #Vote1KathrynForCouncil #WorkingForWhipstick #EngageAndDeliver #SustainabilityForFutureGenerations

06.01.2022 I've really enjoyed the face-to-face conversations I've had with Whipstick residents over the last week but there's one thing that clearly stands out: "Really? There's an election coming up?" is, by far, the most common response when I introduce myself. Please SHARE THIS FACEBOOK POST to help spread the message that Local Council elections will take place this October 2020. Mail-out of ballot packs: 6th - 8th October... Close of voting: 23rd October More information is available on the Victorian Electoral Commission website: https://www.vec.vic.gov.au//2020-lo/who-are-the-candidates

06.01.2022 Thanks to the Bendigo District Planet Minders for seeking information from Candidates to include in their latest publication "The Minder". I greatly appreciated the opportunity to share information about my campaign platforms and personal values regarding the environment and sustainability.
