23.01.2022 I am happy to announce that our clinic rooms are Coronavirus prepared. Please use the hand sanitizer in the waiting room before entering the reception area. We have disinfectant wipes available in all rooms and paper towels in the bathroom. Unfortunately we have had to remove all books and toys in the waiting room so please bring something from home for your child/children to play with.

21.01.2022 Unfortunately one of our most loved regulars was involved in a little accident yesterday. Thanks to Doctor Fiona & her assistants Miss L & Master F - surgery & recovery have gone well & hopefully he will be fighting fit & back in action next week.

18.01.2022 What an exciting week we have had this week. First we hosted two very fabulous work experience students from local High Schools they were happy to join in on activities with clients and we all had fun as well as learning how to talk clearly, how to focus on listening comprehension and some good conversational skills.

18.01.2022 How times have changed!

17.01.2022 Our Name the Giraffe competition finished today. Our giraffe has a name and our winner has a voucher for QBD Bookstore. Kathy drew the winning name this afternoon. Thanks to every one who participated.

14.01.2022 Our clinic will be open again next week (limited hours). As per Qld Health advice, If you have been to Greater Brisbane since January 2nd and have an appointment with us on Monday January 11th, please reschedule & do not attend your appointment. We will be watching the advice from Qld Health closely & will provide further updates as information comes to hand.

14.01.2022 Go Blue for AutismToday we are celebrating Autism Awareness day. It's also the start of Autism Awareness Month in Australia.

14.01.2022 We hope everyone is staying safe & well. We want to assure everyone that we continue to adhere to the government guidelines & hygiene practices in the clinic. To minimise numbers in the clinic at any one time some changes have needed to be made to appointment times to allow us to have time between clients.... To promote social distancing and avoid crowding we have reduced the chairs in the waiting room and have extra waiting space available outside. We continue to clean & disinfect equipment & surfaces between clients. We ask that all clients and carers wash their hands prior to your appointment and use the hand sanitiser located at the door. If you are unwell (even with only mild symptoms) we ask that you call to reschedule your appointment. We continue to offer teletherapy sessions as an option. Thank you for your assistance and understanding.

13.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day to you all from the staff at Kathy J Wooler Speech Pathology. You women are all amazing!

13.01.2022 But, they are just playing - I hear this all the time, and not just about speech therapy! And YES we are playing, but I would never say just playing bc we a...ll know this is how children best learn. Its also important to know that interventionist are trained in specific developmental skills and techniques for their specific discipline - so if we are doing a good enough job to where the adult thinks its just play, the child will definitely buy in and most likely play - AND LEARN along! See more

13.01.2022 How do you get to school? Probably not on a bike with a giraffe

13.01.2022 We recommend that you check with your own health fund about getting a rebate for speech therapy via teletherapy.

12.01.2022 Who knew that there was a special day for mosquitos?! I didnt.

12.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Enjoy your quiet weekend at home. #staysafe #stayathome

11.01.2022 Mask requirements across Queensland are coming into effect from 5pm today (Monday 29 March). 11.01.2022 Good morning all. Any one seeing Kristen or Lashay over school holidays will get to enjoy my birthday flowers as well as great speech therapy!

10.01.2022 Meet Koen Goddard, the winner of our Name the Giraffe competition. Congratulations Koen! Enjoy your voucher from QBD Books.

10.01.2022 Thanks to my amazing staff I had a voucher to feed the giraffes ( my favourite animal) at Australia Zoo. This is Forrest who has just broken the world record for the tallest giraffe in a zoo. He is 6.77 metres tall and he hasnt finished growing yet!

10.01.2022 Our online therapy sessions are up and running! All current clients should have received an email with information about ongoing therapy. If you have not received one please let us know. If you dont think online sessions will work for you or your child please give us a call & we can discuss options.

10.01.2022 If your little person is missing their Pooh Bear blanky, one has been left behind at our rooms this week.

10.01.2022 This happy group of lovely ladies are the Speech Pathologists and Admin Staff at Kathy J Wooler Speech Pathology. We have all worked hard together as a team this year to overcome the challenges of the ‘never to be forgotten 2020’! A big thanks to each and every member of the team! We decided to celebrate our staff Christmas dinner early this year.

10.01.2022 We had a great time celebrating the birthdays of two young men last week before their speech therapy sessions. A great time was had by all and the cakes were very yummy

10.01.2022 Good advice from the giraffe today. To start a conversation, smile and say Hello. Then to keep the conversation going, ask the person an open ended question ( that means a question where they have to say more than yes or no). You could ask what they like to do after school or on weekends. To have a conversation with me, you could ask me what my favourite animal is, but I think you already know the answer to that question. Put your favourite animal in the comments.

09.01.2022 Yesterday, one of our clients big brothers built the most amazing medieval fortress with buttresses and towers! Such clever imagination and skill! Well done Matey! It was so good, I had to put it up twice!

09.01.2022 Happy Australia Day! From our team to you and your families.

09.01.2022 Being on holidays over the school holidays I have had time to watch Millionaires Hot Seat. One question yesterday had interesting trivia that I thought I would pass on to you. Apparently the tune of the Happy Birthday song was originally written to be sung at a kindy in 1883 with the words Good morning to all I couldnt find an explanation of how or when the words were changed to Happy Birthday Feel free to google and go searching for the answer. See you all next week! Looking forward to hearing what you all did on the holidays. Hope you all had some fun .

09.01.2022 We may or may not have had a session or two like this last week Some things we have learnt about Tele therapy sessions so far: 1. They are great fun! 2. Some children like to show us their houses but we can still have some great speech & language learning opportunities 3. Even children who cannot sit at a table for extended periods can participate & benefit... 4. Sometimes our sessions are more about working with parents to meet a childs speech & language goals 5. For children that can sit at a table - consider the lighting & also the chair you are using; A still chair rather than a swivel chair & you might need cushions to prop your child up so we can see their faces. Any current clients who have not received an email about ongoing sessions please contact us.

08.01.2022 We hope everyone is settling in to a very different Term 2. Our clients privacy and confidentiality is extremely important. For our clients connecting with us for therapy sessions via Zoom we continue to take the following steps - Each meeting has a unique meeting ID and password. You will receive new details for every appointment. - the waiting room function has been enabled so Therapists must admit each member into the meeting... - once all members are in, the meeting will be locked so no further participants can enter - Sessions will NOT be recorded. - the feature that allows removed participants to rejoin has been deactivated If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call our office.

07.01.2022 It is Easter Sunday! Happy Easter to all our clients and their families. Hope you get lots of Easter eggs, kids, but not too many. Enjoy your holidays and stay safe.

06.01.2022 We hope you all had a great long weekend and are ready for the new week to come. Remember to be kind and helpful to each other.

05.01.2022 A very happy Mothers Day to all wonderful Mums . Hope you all get spoilt today!

04.01.2022 Don’t forget to message us a name for the Name the giraffe competition. You can write it with your own name and post it in our post box when you come to your appointment or message us on our Facebook page. Competition closes on Tuesday, 27th October. Good luck everyone

03.01.2022 We are having some problems with our landline, so you will have more success getting through to us if you use our mobile number: 0437 285 993 Our apologies if we have not received a message you left on our landline

03.01.2022 A few alternatives to the elbow bump!

03.01.2022 We have 4 experienced speech pathologists on staff this year. Bernadette and Kristen both work full time and Lashay and Kathy work part time. Although Kathy is the owner and principal speech pathologist at the clinic, she has been forced to cut her hours this year due to health issues. So, if you are new to our clinic, you will probably see one of the other speech pathologists who will give your child experienced ‘best practice’ speech therapy treatment.

03.01.2022 There was more excitement today when 3 huge boxes of new toys and games were delivered! Who will have the most fun do you think? The Speech Pathologists or the children???? It will be a close competition thats for sure.

02.01.2022 Anzac Day has come and gone, leaving us remembering our brave soldiers and all of the armed forces who fought overseas so that we could live in freedom. Grateful thanks to you all. My great uncle died in the mud of no mans land in WW1 trying to rescue one more fallen comrade. LEST WE FORGET!

01.01.2022 Another young engineer in the making! Great work!

01.01.2022 A perfect pic for my birthday, my son and daughter-in-law know me very well. Love the giraffe, but dont like popcorn! We want to wish all our clients and their families a happy and safe holiday. Hope the cinema is open so you can all enjoy your popcorn.
