25.01.2022 We’ve got something big coming. 300-megawatts, in fact. We’re building the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest battery help secure Victoria’s energy supply, reduce wholesale energy prices and support the deployment of renewable energy while creating over 85 jobs. What’s more, it will deliver more than $2 of benefit for every $1 invested by Victorians. And we’re building it right here in Victoria.

23.01.2022 One of the biggest packages in the 2020-21 budget is our mental health investment. $868.6 million has been allocated to give Victorians the mental health system they deserve. Sunshine Hospital will be sharing in $492 million to deliver 120 mental health beds in addition to Geelong, Epping, and Melbourne. The Andrews Government's transformation of the mental health system is too big for one Facebook post, so head to https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/putting-mental-health-victor to see the full range of investments.

22.01.2022 Huge progress on our cash for cans container deposit scheme! Yesterday we announced the final design of the scheme, which was supported by 85% of participants during public consultations. It’ll mean that Victorians can return cans, bottles, and cartons at various locations, and will introduce new and easy ways for charities, community and sports groups to fundraise like they do in other states. ... To learn more about the scheme, its benefits, and what it will look like, visit https://www.vic.gov.au/container-deposit-scheme.

18.01.2022 TOOT TOOT: Trains to the city every 2 minutes, and a turn-up-and-go service to the Airport...! Footscray is a huge winner from the big transport build! https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/all-trains-lead-footscray-th

18.01.2022 This is the Christmas fridge. The role of the Christmas fridge is to provide a home for leftovers on the porch. This year, my mum has wrapped it in leftover paper... Whether it’s a Christmas fridge in Country Victoria, the Cricket on the telly, camping, little traditions are important after a year like this. I hope whatever you are doing, there’s rest, happiness and even a little white wine in the sun. Whatever fills your bucket, Footscray! Onwards and upwards for our beautiful community in 2021.

18.01.2022 A rental property isn't just someone's investment, it's a home. Victoria's rental reforms are huge and there are over 130 now in place, ranging from the very start of a rental agreement to the end. They're making renting fairer and safer for all Victorians, while ensuring rental providers can continue to manage their properties effectively. ... 17.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE AND NEW RESTRICTIONS Here's a quick summary of where things are at: There are an additional three cases (plus three last night) which are all close contacts of yesterday’s cases There is a family link between the original Hallam and Mentone cases... The Mitcham case was at an exposure site in Black Rock and it’s believed that’s what links the original three reported cases. Exposure sites can be found at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/case-locations-and-outbreaks. What’s changing? Home gatherings now limited to 15 in total (babies under 12 months not included in cap) Mask use is mandatory in all indoor settings Travel to NSW is strongly discouraged Strictest border restrictions are in place with NSW Only come into the city on NYE if you have a booking. If not, please stay away. Remember to get tested if you have any symptoms at all. Sites can be found at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/where-get-tested-covid-19. For more information on testing go to https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/getting-tested. This isn't the end to 2020 we would’ve liked, but these important measures must be taken to manage this outbreak and keep everyone safe. This virus is wickedly infectious and we must all play our part to bring this quickly under control to ensure we can stay open and get back to COVID normal.

17.01.2022 Casual workers have a choice to make if they’re unwell go to work, or miss a paycheque. Not anymore. We’re doing what no other government has developing a new Secure Work Pilot Scheme, to provide up to five days of sick and carer’s pay at the national minimum wage for casual or insecure workers in priority industries.... People shouldn’t have to choose between taking care of themselves and their families and their jobs, and soon, they won’t. Visit https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/victoria-take-first-big-step for more information.

16.01.2022 Australia’s future table tennis Olympians (and some former Olympic heroes - OMG Miao Miao!) have come together to compete and train in the National HOPES Championships at Sunshine West’s high performance centre Loops. 16.01.2022 BREAKING (GREAT) NEWS! Today I visited the school captains and Principal of Footscray Primary School to share something big - the school will receive a massive $18.2 million upgrade as part of the 2020 Budget. This investment is transformational. The students and teachers will have modern facilities alongside the beautiful heritage buildings, increasing the capacity for 200 new students by the 2023 school year. It’s another great step forward for the Footscray Learning... Precinct. Today is a day that makes me incredibly proud of the Andrews Government. I’m passionate about high quality public education and on behalf of the Footscray community I would like to give a big thanks to Minister for Education, James Merlino.

10.01.2022 Melbourne, the creative capital. I’m so excited about the new gallery announced in the Budget - NGV Contemporary.

09.01.2022 I’ll get right to the point on this one because it’s great news: the 2020-21 Victorian Budget is delivering up to $169.6 million to make kinder free next year, saving families around $2000 for every child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program. Families with children enrolled in kinder programs at a long day care centre will also benefit from a saving of around $2000 in fees. The investment will make sure more kids are getting a great early childhood educat...ion and make it easier for parents particularly women to return to the workforce as we recover from this pandemic. We’re also making sure before and after school programs are available at almost every government school in Victoria to help parents juggling work, drop offs and pick ups.

09.01.2022 It's been a long time coming, but I am pleased to let you know that in the next few weeks, work will kick off on an exciting refurbishment of the Footscray Wharf and Promenade. This area along the river north of Shepherd Bridge is a wonderful asset for our community, and this transformation will make it even better. There’ll be a new boardwalk with lower landings and a pontoon for small boats, seating, lighting, sheltered picnic spaces and lots of plantings... This project is joint funded by the Victorian Government through the West Gate Tunnel Project, and Maribyrnong City Council and I’m really looking forward to seeing it underway.

08.01.2022 Footscray, say goodbye to the double drop off! So excited that construction has started on the $7.8 million early learning centre right next to Footscray City Primary School. There will be 61 long day care places and 66 kinder places as well as maternal child health services. It’s a joint project between City of Maribyrnong and the Andrews Government - another exciting asset for the Footscray Learning Precinct.

08.01.2022 Happy #friyay Melbourne! Two weeks of is an incredible community achievement that we should all celebrate. Remember though, COVID-19 hasn't gone away. It is vital that people continue to get tested if they experience any symptoms at all, so we can keep our cases low and our community protected.

04.01.2022 There have been three positive cases of COVID-19 in Mitcham, Hallam and Mentone. Each case is self-isolating at home and are being supported and monitored. Extensive contact tracing is underway. Our efforts over the past months have been an incredible display of courage, sacrifice and care for our community. ... Even though those locations seem far away from Footscray, we all have a role to play. If you have any symptoms at all, please get tested. 01.01.2022 NEW CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS Right now, we are reaching close contacts well within the 48-hour benchmark. But the time between exposure, incubation, symptoms and testing positive is rapidly shortening. So much so, that even secondary close contacts are potentially infectious within that 48-hour window. It’s why on the advice of our public health experts, the whole of Victoria will move to circuit-breaker action from 11:59pm tonight until 11:59pm on Wednesday, 17 February.
