24.01.2022 Seeing this video reminded me of the time I walked onto Olympic Park, Melbourne with the Australian Deaflympic team at the 2005 Deaflympics. All of us athletes, Deaf and Hearing impaired living out our sporting dreams but more importantly feeling like we belonged and we mattered. The actions of these girls says so much about their team and culture. It's also the culmination of years of lobbying and advocacy to educate and implement best practices in Inclusion. Kudos to organisations like Deaf Sports Australia Sport Inclusion Australia Blind Sports Australia who work with National Sporting Organisations to bring about positive change.

17.01.2022 Two little boys lived within streets of each other in Melbourne and one family read about the other boy in a newspaper article. They realised that boy had the same struggles as their son. He had profound hearing loss, and vision and balance was an issue. They would learn both boys had Usher Syndrome. Now they are best mates, and Usher Kids Australia is leading the way in find a cure, and funding research.

13.01.2022 Sport Access Foundation, established by Australian Paralympic (Rio) Gold Medallist, Katie Kelly, will continue to make their annual grants program available in ...spite of the impact of COVID19. These are challenging days, with COVID-19 impacting all Australians on many levels. In times like these we need to support each other and particularly keep a check on our physical and mental wellbeing, Katie said. Thanks to BlueScope we have introduced the 'Building Up' grant to help during these challenging times. 10.01.2022 I can't imagine having to flee a country because my life or my family's life was in danger. Then only to be locked up on an island for 7 years. 7 YEARS. This is the situation for 400 human beings. They could so easily be YOU or ME. As Craig Foster @fozzfootball says: "They are not allowed to work legally, they can’t access education, play the sports they love, access health care or plan for their futures. Many live with trauma and illness every day because of their treatmen...t in detention. They’ve lost friends, family, and are tired from hanging on. They desperately need our help." Craig Foster through www.GameOver.org.au is calling on all sporting clubs, and all of us to ask our Prime Minister and to join NZ's PM call to end and resettle these people to a life in Australia. These are people, mums, dads, children.

08.01.2022 One of my favourite Brene Brown quote’s reminds me of the tenacity and courage of Kate Doughty and Sally Pilbeam who both announced their retirement from Para-Triathlon recently. The quote is Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. The greatest gift of Para-triathlon is not so much always about the racing or winning, it is the people that you meet in this sport that leaves you all the m...ore enriched and grateful for the connections. Sally Pilbeam Paratriathlete overcame a cancer that resulted in losing her arm, all the while being a mum of two boys and wife to husband Matt, as well as a full time school teacher. Sal would cope with that significant change in her life to take on Para-triathlon and amoung her racing, win 3x World Championships. Kate Doughty - Triathlete overcome the grief of losing her mother, and born without her right hand, after years of equestrian riding, she would be brave enough to take on a completely new sport of Para-triathlon and within 18 months she made the Australian Paralympic Team in Rio and won a host of World Paratriathlon series races along the way. In between working as a psychologist and having a baby boy with husband Jarle. Sal and Kato - you’ve shown the way for all of us, going beyond the comfort zone and embracing all of it. I’ve loved our time together and many great memories we have. KK x

07.01.2022 I read recently in a report that for every $100 spent on indigenous men’s sport $1 is spent on indigenous women’s sport. All sports need more investment of indigenous girls in their sports.
