22.01.2022 Today 19 December, marks the anniversary of the terrible tragedy that saw Deputy Captain Geoffrey Keaton and Firefighter Andrew O’Dwyer lose their lives. Geoffrey and Andrew were two young fathers who volunteered with the Horsley Park brigade, who died when a tree hit the fire truck they were in at Buxton, south-west of Sydney. We will continue to honour their sacrifice in everything we do.... We remember them.

18.01.2022 Katoomba Leura RFS extends its condolences to the families of Senior Constable Kelly Forster and the young woman, an international student from China, she was reportedly attempting to save while canyoning in the Wollangambe. This terrible tragedy is a reminder that while beautiful, the Blue Mountains can contain some rugged and treacherous terrain and visitors should ensure they check the conditions and are properly equipped before venturing out. This season, NSW RFS members have responded to just over 5,500 bush and grass fires that have burnt 30,963 hectares across NSW, considerably less than the 11,400 fires and 5.5 million hectares lost last season. Thank you to our incredible members who continuously step up to help when called upon, protecting communities across the state
