11.01.2022 ACTION STATIONS! Friends - We need you to take immediate action. Please - Send this email urgently and share widely. Make the ph calls. Take 10 min to save our industry now! Its all here, your voice has to be heard. Let me know when you've sent and shared please? CRISIS SUPPORT FOR THE LIVE MUSIC AND EVENTS INDUSTRY To The Honorable Insert MP name here (Minister for xx)... My name is [YOUR NAME] and I [YOUR JOB/POSITION/BUSINESS]. I am writing to you to share my distress and ask that you take urgent action regarding the immediate and direct negative impacts the music and live events sector are experiencing as a result of the Government’s necessary and important response to the COVID-19 crisis. Our Australian music and live event industry were one of the first to feel the immediate impacts from the Coronavirus pandemic and will be one of the last to repair. We are a $15 billion industry - that includes artists and managers as well as small to large business and sole traders. In just the last week, the total lost income registered through I Lost My Gig was over $250 million. This represented 240,000 gig/event cancellations, impacting 470,000 people and is just a fraction of the domino impact COVID-19 continues to have. The overnight closure of the industry means critical and swift support is needed to protect the livelihoods of the hundreds of thousands of artists, managers, agents, crews, venues, contract and casual workers that rely on this industry. Sole traders working in live event and music production have been hit hardest and need immediate financial support. We are asking for immediate Government funding of a dedicated Covid-19 Live Performance Industry Package of $750 million to bring relief to an industry at the existential brink. For me personally this means: [PLEASE INSERT YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF LOSS OF WORK, INCOME AND CURRENT EMPLOYMENT SITUATION HERE] E.g. I have had xx jobs cancelled E.g Resulting in a loss of $xx E.g. Flow on effect of live events and isolation includes E.g.
